Somewhere in Kentucky, there was a Hydro Thunder machine in a Walmart with one player at the top of every track leaderboard and could clear all tracks on a single credit. They would race every Thursday, when the local Stock Yard had an auction and they would ride into town with their grandfather with a pocket of quarters, and nobody bothered them for the next turn, they would watch while they won every race. Hi, that player was me. The machine is long gone unfortunately, and it's RAM undoubtedly reset. I have played many ports of the game and none of them feel as good as the arcade controller, absolutely wrenching that throttle to perform Hydro Jumps. The Xbox port of Midway Arcade 3 is probably the closest. Btw, you don't have to know every shortcut to win. The key to winning the races was spacing out your boosts, as well as knowing when to actually let off the throttle. In the Arcade version, pulling the throttle toward you would also reverse. Use reverse as a brake to clear the tight corners and then boost out, overtaking everyone. Someday, I hope to get my own machine and do it all over again.

Whenever I sit down and play that game no matter how old I am, it's like I took a trip back in time to my childhood. Nice to see Hydro Thunder on there as well. I spent many hours at the arcade playing that one.

Never was really into jetski games untill I watched this video, cool to see that such a niche genre is still being kept alive to this day! Also Hikage is indeed best senran kagura girl, nice
I was addicted to Hydro Thunder as a kid at the arcade. The sound, the handling (using Razorback and being a kid, that wheel was actively fighting against you) and so forth. I'm surprised you didn't talk about the wackiness of boats boosters appearing (or even Tiny Tanic).
I loved Wave Race: Blue Storm on the Gamecube. The water and weather effects were amazing for its time and quite realistic. None of the other examples you used had the ability to change the weather and wave height like Blue Storm did. This genre revived with current hardware would be amazing. The PS5 controller could heighten the experience and the weather in Gran Turismo 7 show how realistic it could be.

Thank you for actually giving Kandagawa Jet Girls a chance- I think you've hit the nail on the head about its issues, while also complementing the good parts. I really have a weird fascination with that game; I think it's a shame what they did to nerf the difficulty, and of course, the dialing back of the ecchi-factor. The anime made it clear that the game could've been so much more, and I adore all of the characters. I really hope we get to see a sequel, where they can refine all the negative aspects of the game, so that it can be more well-balanced and therefore consistently fun.
i always have loved water-based games, hell I have peach beach splash, I wanted to check out jet girls since I love water and racers but I'm not 100% and that after this but I'm glad you made this I really enjoyed seeing all this water games

I thought I was going insane when I saw the JetMoto song "Snow Blind" pop up but I heard the first level music from Twisted Metal 2. Then remembered they share the same studio! Thanks for leading me to this fun fact
I was sort of raised on Hydro Thunder. It was *EVERYWHERE* when I went to arcades sometimes. It was pretty hard to ignore and it looked very popular at the time when it came out. Wish I knew about these other games though, sadly. lol Kandagawa Jet Girls. Never heard of it. Thank you for notifying me, of its existence. lol

The entire chair vibrates with the rumble of the boat engines and it just feels amazing to play.
I love it so much that if any place has an arcade, I actually put an unhealthy amount of weight on if they have Hydro Thunder or not to determine if it's a good arcade.
Pan pizza vids are always a treat. It feels like a saturday morning block of cool vibes every time.
Man, these top video game retrospectives you do are incredibly good!
I’ve always love extreme sports when I was younger & hearing you talk about Jet Ski games are Awesome! And hey, those games might have a cult following. Riptide Was awesome! Thank You RebelTaxi for recommending this crazy game!
I love the editing on your videos it’s like I’m watching a late night tv program
5:19 Haha, just like Mx vs Atv unleashed for ps2.
Instead of the giant squid you just got yeeted after a cannon sound.
First time I laughed so hard. XD
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS this video! your videos have the best aesthetic! takes me right to summer afternoons and having the rest of the day to play games and watch cartoons and be freeeee
Never was really into jetski games untill I watched this video, cool to see that such a niche genre is still being kept alive to this day!
Also Hikage is indeed best senran kagura girl, nice
5:50 lol I like how NIN and Nickelback are back to back, those 2 bands couldn't be any more different.
I totally didn't come here just for the thumbnail.
Pan's videos are great of course.
It's gonna be a good day whenever pan puts out a new video.
It's actually this comfy kind of topic I can count on you making videos for.
Man, love the vibes from this video. We're going into the colder months and I was sorta missing the summer over the almost constant Vancouver rain. It really is true that video games with a summer/beach are so cozy because it's like going on a vacation lol
The Merry Weather cameo was a pleasant surprise 😁
Or was it?
Hey look a Nazi
Splashdown is S-Tier. I love it with my whole heart
That Loki clip was very appreciated!
Thank you for making videos about what TRULY matters, FICTIONAL WATER
I’m sure many of the fans care and thanks Rebel Taxi for the reminder of the nostalgia. Wave race 64 always loved it never beat it.
Yes, this video topic was totally worth it, my dude. Maybe make some other videos in the same vein covering niche subgenres of video games, like demolition derby or whatever else you feel like.
"Wait... different color water? What the fu-"
Surprised the gold water was allowed in the video.
I really appreciate pans video style. Dont know why but I love it!
These are my favorite kinds of videos to see from you, something oddly specific that you care about deeply.
Finally I’ve been waiting for your opinion on water sports
oh my god! when the video started I was thinking "hey I had this one boat racing game on PS1 but I forget what it was called", and then you pulled up Hydro Thunder!!
Jet moto and hydro thunder!
HELL YEAH!
Those games instantly came to mind when i saw the title to this video lol
You're videos make me nostalgic for things I'm not even nostalgic about.
Edit: love bow Merryweather is here.
Wish I knew about these other games though, sadly. lol
Kandagawa Jet Girls.
Never heard of it.
Thank you for notifying me, of its existence. lol
This is a fun episode, glad I finally watched this and you are right Pizza Pan, Toobin deserves a comeback along with the other Midway Titles, I can definitely see a Fall Guys Inspired take on Toobin could work, plus there isn't many people at the moment trying to rip off Fall Guys, so there's that.
This videos scratched all my nostalgias!
Rebel: That song! Nothing gets more 2000s than music by Bowling for Soup
Me: That's New Found Glory...
Merryweather: That is actually SR71
Rebel: Puts on New Found Glory
Me: Now that's Bowling for Soup...wait...
Don't mind me, here to appreciate modern coverage of Splashdown, Hydro Thunder, and most of all Jet Moto.
I loved these types of games. Thanks for doing this video.
Jet Moto.................you unvaulted another lost memory. Bless you, Pan!
Your video are awsome man. I didnt know that this used to be popular back in 1990s-2000s
I jut bought Jet X20 the other day from a used video game store so it was cool to see you talk about it here !!
RebelTaxi said he’d cover this another time but I’m here to cover it now, Splashdown: rides gone wild is fantastic. The learning curve from the first game is gone so it’s easy for newcomers and has some absolutely amazing courses. Seriously, give it a try, just like the first it’s on PS2 and Xbox.
Funnily enough, I recently bought Sonic and Allstars Racing Transformed. Also I played the heck out of Eliminator Boar Duel on the Switch online.
Do you hit the wall when you go over the lava waterfall? the lavafall?
