Was talking with a co-workers husband at a Christmas party about hunting, guns, etc. He mentioned AK's I said I've always wanted a real Krink style AK but hated that $200 tax and the wait. He said "You would never get my name on one of those forms." He's a federal DEA agent and that was enough to steer me away from any Class III form ever. Take it as food for thought and a grain of salt this is the net after all. Do what you want but for me when a federal agent wouldn't put his name on one of these forms there must be a reason for it. I didn't ask or pry as to why.
Very well done video, Sir. There was a home invasion four blocks from my house two weeks ago, and I'm going to start the process for getting suppressors for my Wife and my pistols for home defense. I don't think blood dripping from our ears should be the price paid for defending our family from criminal thugs. Thank you.
you originally made it possible for me to get my first tax stamp when i still lived in New Port Richey and i greatly appreciate all the help you gave me back then. i moved to Colorado in Feb now. laws are almost the same here. this video by the way is the best NFA explination i have ever seen since i first started getting interested into these goodies.
If you decide to make your own suppressor does it need to be sealed up or can you build it so its serviceable? Great video sir and keep up the good work!!
good info.....I just sure wish Louisiana didn't make us get state approval before sending out the Form 4 to the ATF. It's added at least 6 weeks to my wait time on 2 cans and am up to 8 weeks on another silencer......
I really appreciate the video! I think this has finally pushed me into taking the NFA plunge. Question about adding assets to the trust if you are creating an SBR: Does it matter if the lower receiver is already listed as an asset in your trust before sending all forms to the BATF? If you make a mistake in creating your trust and the BATF does not approve your Form, is it a big deal? Can you re-submit after fixing your mistake? Will they give you a reason why your were not approved?
Great video! Very detailed answered all my questions, well almost all, if I want to add, say a Magpul stock to my my SBR that has a stock tube on it, how would I list it on the paperwork being I made the rifle already but had a stock tube on it to make it legal. Also I'm in south florida who drew up your trust, and I don't know if you know but would I still have to have the trust made if I already own my own business, sorry for so many questions, I appriciate any answers you can give, thanks.
I got mines a few weeks ago. I actually forgot about it and then one day I get a call that I was approved and picked it up at the shop. Definitely worth owning one. They now have these kiosks where you take your picture and take your fingerprints etc.. pay it online etc. could not be easier.
For the guy asking if he still needs a trust if he has a business, I'm not an expert but I've heard that you can use your business, but it is not recommended. I've heard it is financially safer for you to isolate the two, but I forgot exactly why. Something to do with containing liability. Thanks for the info, I'm just now getting the ball rolling for my first can. I have a friend that did it using a self help packet instead of a lawyer. How much did you pay the lawyer? Lawyer seems safer.
I just ordered a can and currently waiting on it to show up at my dealers shop. As of late December, all electronic filing was down. I was told to expect 12 months. Yay!
Thanks for the info! I know you probably won't do this, but it would be so, so cool if you had a gunsmith add threads to the Serbu Super Shorty, and then got a nice fat suppressor for it! Now that's a gun I have yet to see silenced. Hope the spread from such a short barrel wont be too much.
The reason Suppressors were put of the NFA registry was because of people were afraid of not hearing the report of a gun when out hunting. Also hollywood hype was another reason. It was a last minute thing. Back in 1934 was an insane amount of money at the time.
Also if I wanted to do like you did and turn a 16" rifle into a 10.5" rifle and add a stock to it would that require (2) tax stamps? And am I filling out form (1) for a adding a stock or does it fall under "AOW"
I would love to be able to purchase class 3 weapons, but living in California makes it very difficult. I believe I'm just going to make an appointment with a lawyer and find out the process.
?? for you if i were to only be able to get one would a 9mm or .40 silencer work on a .22 as well. it would be nice to only have to buy one to cover multiple guns
Damn, not bad. I saw a writeup online that said to expect to pay $1200 to $2000. Fuuuuk that lol. Today I traded a new PMag to a friend for the NFA trust kit he bought. Already written, fill in the blanks. Worked for him lol.
I watched your video and I think I have a pretty good idea. But I just wanted to clarify now is the process the same for building a silencer( for personal use) as buying one, as far as transfer fee etc. And if we are allowed to build our own what about any markings ie serial numbers etc. And thank you for putting in the time and info out for us who want to play but arnt sure where to start.Lol
Lol sorry as I watch your video for the 3rd time stuff just keeps coming to me, if I'm doing multiple conversions can I mail out multiple forms at the same time?
I sent my correction back in early July, When I called the ATF a few days ago they said all corrections would take 90 days to resend. Oh well, 6 more weeks to go.
Some questions. 1 - Is it OK to have a short-barreled UPPER in your possession before you receive your Form 1 back? 2 - Is it OK to put that short UPPER onto an unengraved lower? 3 - Who does the engraving?
1. NO 2.NO (this is constructive inter and possession of an illegal SBR) and 3.It depends on where you live. Google for firearm engravers in your area.
It is legal to possess a short barreled upper receiver because it can be made into a "pistol". This is why there are no restrictions on websites selling short barrels. However if you possess a short barreled upper and put it on a lower receiver with a collapsible stock at that moment it is an illegal weapon unless you have a SBR permit. The Sig sb15 is a perfect loophole for possessing a short upper.
I did the that a my local gun shop on that machine. In October 2018 and the check got cashed on the 23rd of that month. And now it is March 3rd 2019 what kind of background check does the FBI do? And can they go through your VA records?
I also live on florida and was hoping you would be able to tell me If you have to engrave your trust information on your form 4's or just on the form 1 ?
Does one trust cover all of the silencers that you buy or do you have to create a new trust or add an amendment to the trust every time you buy another silencer? If covered by the same trust every time, can the same trust also be used for SBRs? Additionally, do you have to put the specific gun you plan to use the silencer with every time you buy a new silencer?
One trust can hold an infinite number of items, you add these in the schedule A in the trust. Trust can be used for any and all NFA items. The silencer is the registered part, you can use it on anything you wish.
if you build an SBR legally registered with the specifications, can you just change the length of the barrel, or do you have to only use 10.5 inch barrels with your lower, and can you switch out to non SBR uppers for longer range shooting or to run a different caliber?
Do I have to purchase the NFA Item first, and then mail in the form 4? I am just asking how to buy a silencerco silencer online? Do I buy it and they transfer it to a class 3 dealer, I then have to go down there and get the Serial Number and submit my form 4 and wait for the stamp to actually take the item home?
So let me get this straight. Let's say you want to buy two different silencers in two different calibers. You have to pay a $200 tax stamp for each silencer? Why not just make you pay a $200 tax stamp to be able to own ANY silencer and then you can go into any FFL and show your tax stamp and buy a silencer that day.
Do you need to put anything in the "Additional Calibers" section, for a silencer? Like, I get a 7.62 silencer but want to use it on my 5.56 and 300 blackout rifles.
having a no insurance charge on ur record ruin things. i'm clean other than that and can own as many arms as i want. if worse case i get a record expunge. also you said your DEALER fill it all out and you sign?
I think I read through all your comments and didn't find my ? Do you need to keep a copy of all the paperwork with you when you go to the range, plinking or hunting?
+onerka69 You need to have your stamp with you any time you take your silencer/SBR/SBSG/AUTO with you. I just keep mine in a 3 ring binder like fireman1291, and take it when I go out to shoot.
+onerka69 Yes. A copy of the trust must be with the suppressor at all times. A lot of people just shrink the trust down so that it will fit on one page.
Also, HAVE AN ATTORNEY do your Trust. I know a guy who used a "Trust in a box" kit. After 7 purchases the ATF decided the Trust was invalid. ATF came to his house and told him to go get a real one from an attorney or face Federal prosecution.
+Robbie CaptMilkbone Baxter I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you're milling a silencer you have to submit your design and a unique serial like "CaptMB0001". Since the process is a bit expensive and cumbersome, you might want to be sure your design is somewhat "flexible". Meaning flexibility in dimensions and threading, as well as it can be internally serviceable, and switched to a different rifle where possible. Just ideas. Best of luck.
+Dave The Ammo Psycho Glad it helped. This is an older video and I should redo it when i have time and don't have reviews piling up. If you wish to learn more just find my page on Facebook/NFAReviewChannel and I can help you there as well.
Man. My form came back because my sheriff didn't write my name on the back. Now I have to wait another 90 days before I get my stamp. With all the money they get you'd think they could hire more people.
Thanks for sharing the info. Very important to do this right. You do a great job at it. The only part I hate is now they can follow it and you. But then again, once you get a concealed weapons permit, your being watched anyway uh? Thanks.
If for some reason you get denied you can apply for a refund. It takes awhile but you will get your money back. If you have a clean record and live in a state where suppressors are legal then you will be fine.
***** if you are buying (or building) an SBR _and_ you are buying a silencer for that gun, do you have to buy two stamps or just one on one application? How's that work?

To protect hearing you must pay for the device, pay a $200 tax, do paperwork, pass some sort of contrived BG check and in the case of many small town, corrupt police chief law enforcement officers kiss their asses, give a massage with a happy ending or pay them off. My CLEO was a mother fraker that is anti gun. He didn't sign the form that he had for 5 months. Then i had to get my state police to sign it, they had my papers for another 5 months. Now the ATF has my paperwork 5 months and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. This system is a joke.

Slim Jim why didn't you ask?
he gets to use any firearm he wants he does not need anything else, He has the Badge. You do not

Weird, we have absolutely no restrictions on silencers what so ever in Norway
Nice
I mean, even in the UK there aren’t restrictions like this on suppressors. If anything says how this should be, then it’s that
If you decide to make your own suppressor does it need to be sealed up or can you build it so its serviceable? Great video sir and keep up the good work!!
I don't know a dealer anywhere that would allow that. You must pay in full before you start the transfer.

Got the call yesterday and picked up my suppressor. I agree as others have said, the wait is a pain in the ass but it was totally worth it.
I'm curious, do you need to keep some kind of proof of registration or tax payment when you take it to the range?

Handguns missed the registry by one vote...

@fireman1291 did you do the engraving yourself or a local business
One question...I have heard you will not need a trust if the local law enforcement signs off on the item. True?
I just got mine in this weekend. Man the headache was worth it
thanks for the video great information. is there a lawyer that is familiar with these laws in Miami that you know of.
?? for you if i were to only be able to get one would a 9mm or .40 silencer work on a .22 as well. it would be nice to only have to buy one to cover multiple guns

As always very imformative!!
It seems very difficult untill gone thru the first couple, and then one just worries about the time wait!!
Thanks again...

Yeah you just register the threaded part of the suppressor and can build it however you want, same with a full auto switch for a Glock
is this for the FIRST one u get or is this for every silencer u buy?
Lol sorry as I watch your video for the 3rd time stuff just keeps coming to me, if I'm doing multiple conversions can I mail out multiple forms at the same time?
So if I get a suppressor, can I legally switch it back and forth between different AR's or does the AR have to be registered as a class 3 too?

I did the paper work six months ago and have not heard got my stamp yet , last time it took almost 11 months I live in Oregon,
With a trust do you need to send Passport photos of yourself with your Form 4 like you would if you were using a CLEO?
do you know if i have to change my address in my trust every time i move or is the form i send the ATF for a change of permenant address sufficient
I also live on florida and was hoping you would be able to tell me If you have to engrave your trust information on your form 4's or just on the form 1 ?

Because Government.
I don't why I'm watching this since I'm in Canada it just popped up in my suggestions so I was like fuck it
Another, very well done instructional... thanks for sharing your knowledge
Nope. you can use it on any gun you want.
Do you need to put anything in the "Additional Calibers" section, for a silencer? Like, I get a 7.62 silencer but want to use it on my 5.56 and 300 blackout rifles.
007NunyaBizNess No.
Thanks...
Do they take money orders?
having a no insurance charge on ur record ruin things. i'm clean other than that and can own as many arms as i want. if worse case i get a record expunge. also you said your DEALER fill it all out and you sign?
Thanks for listing Silencer Talk in the description and not the real forum. *wink*
I'm in Florida but south
Broward county looking into setting up trust any help would be greatly appreciated
Do the copies of the trust and the form need to be notarized?
+Adam Taylor The original Trust has to be notarized. Then naturally any copy of in you make will have it on the copy.
+Adam Taylor I know the trust does because i had one written up two weeks ago.
Do you have to pay the tax on each and every one

Lies
Congrats!
so how do you handle a form one if you build a SBR or sliencer from scratch yourself? Do you have to make up a serial number for the form?
+Robbie CaptMilkbone Baxter I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you're milling a silencer you have to submit your design and a unique serial like "CaptMB0001". Since the process is a bit expensive and cumbersome, you might want to be sure your design is somewhat "flexible". Meaning flexibility in dimensions and threading, as well as it can be internally serviceable, and switched to a different rifle where possible. Just ideas. Best of luck.
What if I don't have page numbers on my trust?
What about Pennsylvania?
I am a Florida residents and I am a small business owner with a corporation can I use my business Corporation to buy a suppressor that way
yes
Do you know any NFA Trust Lawyers outside FL, looking for AZ
And more questions. Your SBR is listed as 10.5". Can you ALSO own a 12" upper, etc, to swap on the lower or are you stuck with only that one upper?
Yes you can swap as long as you have the ability to configure with the original upper.
I would like to buy one someday....I dont think I would have any probs, I pass the check to buy guns and I have a CCL
Did you send a personal check?
Yes, so I can keep track that my paperwork arrived safely and it gives me a timeline to start my 11-12 month waiting time estimate.
Everyone I know is getting them in 5 months.
Wow, cardboard boxes? The BATFE is several decades behind the rest of the civilized world.
Great video, thanks for making this.
You need one tax stamp for each suppressor you want to What if we just ban ATF stupid rules ? Or just one tax stamp for all?
Excellent video. Thank you very much. This was extremely helpful.
+Dave The Ammo Psycho Glad it helped. This is an older video and I should redo it when i have time and don't have reviews piling up. If you wish to learn more just find my page on Facebook/NFAReviewChannel and I can help you there as well.
Thank you.
So if i get a silencer i can basically put it on any gun i own correct?
+WolfMannHD Yes. If you get a 30 cal supressor, for example, you can use it on any caliber smaller than a 30 cal.
Man. My form came back because my sheriff didn't write my name on the back. Now I have to wait another 90 days before I get my stamp. With all the money they get you'd think they could hire more people.
Very Helpful video thanks!
Nice vid! Thanks for the info...much appreciated!
Thanks for sharing the info. Very important to do this right. You do a great job at it. The only part I hate is now they can follow it and you. But then again, once you get a concealed weapons permit, your being watched anyway uh? Thanks.
thank you for this informative video!
Will you be on the police radar
if i didn't put trustee next to my signed name on form 4 will it get kick back?
i live in Sarasota county Venice,fl can you please recommend a lawyer that can do a NFA trust for me
floridaguntrustlawyer dot comm
thank you
A whats a aow for and how do you get it
If I buy a suppressor and paid the $200 tax stamp can I get denied and lose all my money?
If for some reason you get denied you can apply for a refund. It takes awhile but you will get your money back. If you have a clean record and live in a state where suppressors are legal then you will be fine.
***** aright thank you for your time.
OK Guys, GET your FFL 07 and Class III, NO Wait time just order what you want. WOW how easy that is and in only 60 Days or so.
so if ur denied they still keep ur $200?
When you're talking about machine guns are we talking about fully auto?
Great info bro!
***** if you are buying (or building) an SBR _and_ you are buying a silencer for that gun, do you have to buy two stamps or just one on one application? How's that work?
Wilson Hines Stamp for each item.
Very informative, thank you!
Has to be easily read.....
Great info thanks

I would guess 18 sence its a firearm, but maybe 21 if its also considered a "pistol"
thx for the help
Thanks!
To protect hearing you must pay for the device, pay a $200 tax, do paperwork, pass some sort of contrived BG check and in the case of many small town, corrupt police chief law enforcement officers kiss their asses, give a massage with a happy ending or pay them off.
HEARING PROTECTION ACT has got to happen. To do all this crap to simply protect your hearing is insane. Please don't tell the government that hard hats save construction worker's lives or life jackets prevent drowning. I'm floored that body armor doesn't require a tax stamp too.
And I mean the silencer btw.
you have to get the tax stamped paperwork before you make it or you're violating a federal law punishable of a $10k fine and 10 years in the pen.
Call your local ATF office, ask about a Drop In Auto Sear for an AR15.
