What does a BOOKBINDER have in common with a vintage Vox AC30 AMPLIFIER!? The rexine quest

This week I hit the road on a quest to find an obscure amplifier covering called Rexine. An artist about to go on tour is requesting a vintage recovering job that will require just the right material to give a new production AC30 that vintage look. Tolex won't cut it since what is currently available is too different from the original material and just doesn't look the part. Fortunately, I've got a good friend keeping the art of bookbinding alive. So this week I'm off to search through his incredible collection of vintage cloth to see if I can uncover just the right material to offer my customer. Thanks for watching!

Oh, man! Yes and no. After searching through many racks of the stuff I found a big roll he gifted me. When I got it home I unwound it and discovered it was only about 5 feet of OG rexine for Vox with a full roll of GREEN underneath! The ends were folded up and covering the green and the roll had been taped up. It was not going to cover unfortunately. I drove back another day and we couldn’t find any more. It was pretty ridiculous. I did find something close but not perfect like the first roll. The customer was understanding and would up picking a different cloth that’s a current production piece.
