In this unique Ramadan course, Self-Knowledge: Towards a Qur’anic Anthropology, Hamza Yusuf examines Imam al-Raghib al-Asfahani’s Tafsil al-nash’atayn wa tahsil al-sa‘adatayn (An exposition of the two creations with means to the acquisition of the two felicities). Through the lens of the Qur’an, Imam al-Raghib, an eleventh-century polymathic exegete, presents a masterful study of the human being. Unlike any other work in the Islamic tradition, this short book leads a serious student into a completely Qur’anic perspective on what it means to be human, but more importantly, it explicates the means to achieve our God-given potential to realize true humanity (insaniyyah) in this life. In a time when postmodernist and nihilistic ideas of the self confound many, Imam al-Raghib provides a much-needed antidote by grounding us in true Qur’anic knowledge of the self, which results in knowledge of the universe, and in the meeting place of those two knowledges, one arrives at certainty of the Creator of one’s self and one’s world. - Розваги
Imam Hamza is brilliant...... May Allah protect and preserve him.
Aamiin yaa rabb

The amount of Noor on his face is just so much obvious.✨
May Allah preserve it ameen!
He wants you to Worship the Maker, not him the man! Be careful!
He is an American, that’s what his skin color is.. in America every white person has this “Noor” on his face.

Unbelievable this scholar is knowledgeable in no comparable way to his contemporaries
Alhamdulillah Shaykh Hamza makes all this knowledge accessible to non-Arabic speaking peoples. Many scholars and teachers are like him in other parts of the world, because Allah SWT is most generous to all, speaking in different languages and sharing knowledge to their communities.
Listening from Egypt. Illustration is so beautiful thanks.

Yes Shaykh. Definitely, Ar-Raghib wrote this after a big Fat-h into the meaning of the Qur'an. This usage of the Qur'an is too extraordinary.
I have only read a similar usage of the Qur'an from Shaykh Gibrim of Nigeria in his Jihaaz, a contemporary scholar.

Where is session 1?
Assalamu'alaykum sheikh. Thanks for these beautiful and thought provoking advice.
I have a question:.
You quoted the hadith on bringing up children.
I came across a slightly different version:
From the Prophet (s.a.w.):
“The child is the master for seven years; and a slave for seven years and a vizier for seven years; so if he grows into a good character within 21 years, well and good; otherwise leave him alone because you have discharged your responsibility before Allah.”
From the hadith: Parents are thought to play and show them care and love in the first seven years. In this way they love and trust their parents.
The next seven years are disciplining years. With trust and love for their parents, they can be easily guided with skills and disciplines.
The third seven years they are viziers, prime ministers.
In another narration, the parents are queens and kings with veto power.
This third phase means that parents have given them enough guidance and skills so much so that the children can make decisions on various challenges in life, however when they are not correct, parents can still guide them.
In the last phase, another narration mentioned that they are like business partners. Thus they are free to lead their lives and can consult parents on issues they face.
I need your input on this version of hadith I quoted.
Jazakallah khairan.
Where is session 3
Ya Rab please help me against myself
From where can I get this book (with English translation)??
There isn't one yet.
ASA Title and author of the book, please! Please spell it out and where can it be purchased from, please. Also when you speak in ayahs and surahs of the Quran can you note exactly what surah and ayat you are speaking about! Please
Salam. Where can we purchase this book. Thank you

A suggestion for an Arabic national born and brought up in Iraq where Arabic language is spoken best from Babylon not even the north will read the book in Arabic for Arabic listeners and Shaik Hamza translate in English for English listeners. The advantage is to share this hard work by two instead of one.2. It is very confusing for my brain at least which is an Arabic brain to focus , the knowledge seems interrupted, fragmented and do not help to jump from Arabic and English. Hope to study this suggestion and do virtual practices and see how listeners feels. One should ask highly qualified, highly skit, and highly experienced in life and deeply educated.Thank you.
Continuing in phrases is very helpful to be in the flow and mindfulness. God blessings.
It is very irritating to hear loud nervousness voice tone too serious instead of soft slow relaxing voice . It is a skill how to do public speaking. Arabic is spoken from the throat and not softly from lips . It is an opinion .A-level i of knowledge in .epistemology
Does anyone know where session 1 is?

Salam alaykoom Hamza, I have a question? When you said the pronoun at the beginning of the lecture. Was it a vision that the world would follow the trend, or it was just a statement since they pushed it on Us and subconsciously said it? Because we are bombarded with it now days?
