Great Job on M37 Trans Rebuild! I was in 4th med Bn, 4th Inf Div, (1965 - 1967), with a whole fleet of M37B1 Ambulances and a couple dozen M37B1 trucks. At Ft Lewis the trick was to keep drivers from messing with the governors and throwing a rod -- Later in Vietnam they performed pretty well, dry or soaking wet! In 1974 I was core drilling at Purkeypile in the Alaska Range and rebuilt the brakes on Dave's WWII M37. M&O Machine in Fairbanks introduced me to silicone copper lube to coat pitted (unavailable) brake cylinders (all of them), it worked great! We had brakes on the old truck that season! Look up Purkeypile, the claims dated from 1921 (Jiles and Knutson). Dave "Cat-Trained" the truck into the property from Nenana in the spring of 1958 behind a Dew Line surplus "8A Serial" D8 tractor, (on a sled carrying the truck and a surplus ? Core Drill Rig (like the one at the Silver Fox Mine near Fox) and a wannigan for sleeping). Fix up the truck a little more and it will carry you into the Nabesna Mine with your camping gear! Regards...
Good job B.A. When you pulled the M-37 out of your shop, my eyes were drawn to your horse shoe hanging on the wall. I'd like to offer a suggestion, turn it over so that the "open" end is up so all the luck don't keep spilling out. You're on a great roll with your stable of nag's and I wouldn't want to something adverse befall your location.
Its funny you say that, over here, the Big controversy is, one half says, oppening up makes it “the devils swing”, and if you flip it over, then the luck drains out. So what to do do, what to do.
Wish there were more '41 WC's in my area, I have two that I am working on but need a cab and hood, and other hard to get stuff! Glad to see you have a nice herd going of the 'ol girls, they need to be preserved!
i think i have add 50 yrs new life to mine it was reg in ga, in 2007 i bought it 2011 needd dist over haul to run again i replaced every thing that needed replacing from the ground up 5 new tires new wheel cylinders rebuilt master cylinder new brake lines new barke shoes list keeps growing on the neg new seat turn sig. new tail lights all new wiring compleat new tail lights they were toast added altrnator gt rid the generator voltage reg was toast all new glass add a heater i have a stack of recpts. over an inch high fixing to rebuild carb . also new seats with seat belts converted to civilan plugs and plug wires i dont give up i justgive out im 87 yrs old i was in korean war when these truck were new
Gday mate ,just joined having a look through your earlier stuff ,very talented guy mate really enjoying your channel very cool ,keep up the great work mate thanks for sharing 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
This is quality entertainment right here, all the car/truck build shows these days suck. Amazing how well built and well engineered these old trucks are yet still can be worked on by a back yard mechanic, great video.
Really nice job rebuilding that transmission and then using that low profile jack to get it in place. Great attitude don't go out and spend a lot of money for something useful you can build yourself. Great job getting the old Dodge running and shifting and driving.
Know what my youngh friend?.... I really enjoyed the 2 vids you made of this old truck. It really warms my heart that there are guys like you who care so much for a proud old war vet of a truck. For one... you know what you're doing as far as I could see from your footage. The truck on my avatar (88' Isuzu p'up 4x4) I completely built out of 4 trucks (3years of patience). Now I thoroughly enjoy it as my daily driver That is why I enjoyed your vids so much. In my country, you just dont get trucks like that, and if you do, you got to be a millionare to just buy the old "scrap" for fixing. Keep it up, best wishes for the new year ahead from the Western Cape South Africa.
Great job on this one. I love to see the "old iron" brought back to life. Tough work on the transmission rebuild. But the end result was certainly worth it. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next video.
I drove a 1952 M37 for twenty years.. I used it to hoist steel when I built my shop.. I built a 22 foot boom for the front bumper and used the pto winch to do the hoisting......Swapped the truck off in 2010 but still have a dodge m37 transmission on a drill press I use in my shop.. Great stuff. Cheers Mike in Louisiana
Great job. the sound of that old truck takes me back to riding with my uncle in his old trucks. they would lug but never stalled out just kept on going.. thanks for the Memory reminder. and keep up the reviving the old iron.
Just started watching your channel today. Enjoying the work on old trucks. I like your baby deere. I have a 2018 1025R. Like you said not big enough for everything but will go into some tight spaces. It lifts more than I can and I love it.
Young man you do great work !! Thank you for sharing your journey with us !! Fix the exhaust so you don't get sick or worse ! Please be safe and God bless you and yours !!!! Eddy
Fun work and keeps building mechanical skills, all he needs now is a sandblasting building , painting place , welding/ fabrication area and restoration get real fun.
Hey Brother! You have the happy and rugged old Mopar coming back to life and Ole 'Ethel' helping out with a smile on her face. She sounds good and solid now with the new/used Motorcraft gracing the top end of her! Loved how you showed us how the inside view of the shift pattern on the '52. So cool as usual!
Well I always like seeing these old behemoths running they are a difinatly a trip to drive. I am glad that you got the transmission to come together as well as you did. First time knocking one of these back in running order is cool. Take care
It is a cool old truck, amazing that you could find transmission in a junkyard. I live in the southeast part of Missouri if you go to a junk yard around here you will be lucky to find a part for a 1980s car or truck, the parts for 70s or earlier are super rare and a 1950 part will involved a few hundred miles of driving.
i rebuilt my m37 brakes compleat wheel cylinders (4) new brake shoes new brake lines put all new parts in master cylinder -blead to 1/2 pedal thereisa bolt bottom back side acts like a cam to move shoes apart for better shoe fit a good way to ckeck when your thru adj, brakes ??? get on a sandy or dirt rd get up a little speed stand on the brake get an look at slid marks to seeif they are close to even in length you adj that bolt on back to correct if needed i got mine in 2011 ifeel ive added another 50,000miles mine was running and reg in ga in 2007 the it went to junk yard all it took to crank it was a set of points 1 point was burned off this caused by wrong condenser should be 27 mfd -- they want pit with correct cond.i was in mtr pool in japan 1953 187 airborne mike co. army accepted my truck in dec 14 53 from chrysler i have allthe orig paper work down thru the yrs
Good to see your shop cleaned up. Whenever I clean mine it lasts for about 2 weeks and then it’s worse than before. I can’t wait until you get the winch going or start to put the 270 in the other truck. Your videos give me inspiration to keep going on my old iron. Sometimes what I need since I’m running into problems with my 1958 Chevy 235 engine project. Thanks!
Mint work bud!
👌👌👌
Thank ya!

"Give her some love with the Grease Gun" could be a Spinal Tap Song. Nice work.
I drove one of these in the Canadian Army... decades ago. Haha. Brings back memories. I enjoy your channel. Thank you.
Keep it under 80, lol! Love your sense of humor. Nice work.
The marvelous old-style Dodge Power Wagon-- capable of surmounting any obstacle other than a gas station. :-)
Good job! Those old Dodge trucks based on the Power Wagon won't die!

New cars and trucks suck in my opinion. The good points aren't enough to outweigh the bad ones.
Really nice job rebuilding that transmission and then using that low profile jack to get it in place. Great attitude don't go out and spend a lot of money for something useful you can build yourself. Great job getting the old Dodge running and shifting and driving.

I liked the video. But the only issue I can see is that he repeats a lot of stuff multiple times. But all I all a great video.
Great job on this one. I love to see the "old iron" brought back to life. Tough work on the transmission rebuild. But the end result was certainly worth it. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next video.
