You wanted suggestions on tear downs lol, so I suggest doing one on a domino. I’ve always called them the love child of a router and biscuit joiner, I’d be interested to see if I’m right. 😂 Merry Christmas, Dean.
after watching a decent bit of your videos, the most important thing i seem to have learned, outside of how to actually fix these machines, is that most issues could be prevented with some maintenance, especially after this video. Seems like the best course of action is, don't overwork the machines, make sure to listen to any sound changes before it snowballs, and every so often, open it up and just check it. from dried-up grease, to all the junk that gets in, to dry piston o-rings... just opening it up even just once a year and checking and replacing the grease if need be would make any machine last forever, if used properly and not abused. now sure, i don't think that would be some service you can sell, it would probably be an annoyance for customers and seemingly a useless money waste, but it is definitely something you can do to your own tools on some lazy afternoon even if once a year, instead of going until something fails, and then that could take out the machine making the repair too expensive to be worth it. cars too would not make it 20+ years with absolutely no maintenance, so i guess it checks out.
absolute mans ASMR.. beautiful for unwinding alone in the workshop feet up with a whisky and mince pie......may I suggest a Makita DBN500 tear down, mines starting to miss fire and needs some love.
This is my favorite 'sawzall'. This thing gets in so many places most other huge recip saws can't get into, especially with the 4way blade holder!👍🏻👌🏻🔩🔧🛠️ Happy Holidays Dean & family!🎁🎅🏻☃️🎄 After seeing how bad that grease is inside I'm gonna have to check mine out! I can't believe that grease got that hard & dried up like that!
Hope it’s been a good Christmas, Dean. I really enjoyed this repair. It shows that you can’t know what can be done until you break in to the problem.. isn’t that generally true in life?! You’re a great teacher.
Thanks for these informative and confidence building videos Dean. Best wishes to you and your loved ones during this festive season and for the upcoming new year as well. Cheers from Ontario, Canada
After watching your repair videos, I got it into my head to try and change the drill chuck on my bosch 18v screwdriver, that will not open anymore. Its a nice machine an worth repairing.
I picked up a 2022 DCH273 which wasn't working for €40. I was half expecting the crank to be broken but it was a seized up motor. I used half a can of contact cleaner flushing out the motor, and now it is as good as new. I had two more motor/switch assemblies, which I also freed up with contact cleaner. That essentially saved me the best part of €480. I flush out all brushless motors now as part of general servicing. It doesn't appear to do any harm.
@alouisschafer7212 If the motor fails on a DCH273, you have to buy the switch and motor. They don't sell the motor separately, sadly. It is an expensive fix.
First: Merry Christmas! Thanks for your videos and troubleshooting on repairs. You helped me save many angle grinders, some cordless drills and many more machines. Saving my own and friends machines. This leads me to a suggestion. I have been struggling with pressing out the gears on angle grinders hence I do not have a sexy hydraulic press like you. Buying one is no option for me atm. I wonder if you could show us an alternative way to exchange them without the hydraulic press (if this is possible). Maybe this helps me and others doing the job with the limited possibilities. Thanks a bunch, again merry x mas and a happy new year!
A wealth of knowledge there to pick up the pieces / screws that he's "slung" on the bench 😂....and reassemble it back together. I'd be writing it down/taking pics etc !!... Happy Christmas one and all.
Merry Christmas Dean. Great job repairing this DeWalt Recip Saw. Seems a really bad design to allow that much dirt into the gear box. Great job cleaning her up and getting her running again.
Look after your tools and they will look after you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a good Christmas from 28 degrees centigrades Cape Town enjoy the rain.
The quantity of dust & rubbish blended into solidified grease was surprising. It it bad design or the material it's been cutting? Well done getting it running again. Happy Christmas Dean.
i tried fixing my bosch 24v sds drill with no hammer function.putting it back together was like doing a rubiks cube blindfolded.in the end after several attempt's i threw it in the bin.happy xmas to you and family.
Hi Dean, thanks for another repair. Could all that crap inside the recip saw, be caused by brick/sawdust dust and dried up grease? My suggestion for a tear down is one of the Karcher power jet washers (K2, K3 etc)
Dean and everybody, Merry X-mas and Happy New Yr. Unfortunately, my *Bosch Pro GST 135 CE jigsaw* was used upside down when cutting and trimming plaster boards until it died. Like this recipsaw I suspect it's packed with dust. Can anybody guide me to how to open, clean and assemble it. I'm not a savvy tool mechanic just a woodworker/tool user.
Merry Christmas to all! Wow! Did they not notice the thing was struggling and just kept using it until it stopped? Then they bring it to you for a Christmas miracle!
There isnt really a do it all everything is perfect brand. Makita has the widest array of 18V tools and they are very affordable and repair friendly. Some of their tools are the best in their class, others not so much but thats true with every brand. Bosch Professional is excellent in longevity and repairability but pricey and their tools feel sort of outdated behind Milwaukee and Makita. Thing is what are you using the tool for? DIY, semi-DIY or site work all day long.
Merry Christmas mate. I think dewalt maybe under the impression tool owners with blow out their tools regularly. Especially when cutting something that produces a fine dust. Blame bad habits of owners.
@@deandohertygreaser I have a XGT rotary hammer that won't change modes. You can have it If you can work out a cheap way for me to get it to you. Easy fix maybe.
Actually it rather speaks for DeWalt in this case because not even the needle Bearrings failed under those conditions. That was ROUGH. Wonder what the guy was cutting for it to become that bad.
Merry Christmas everybody :)
Same 👌🎄🍻🍻🍻
Backacha! 👍🤝
Well done, Dean. Have a good Christmas all!

Looks like that boy was cutting away tree roots on a rainy day. Very nicely done Dean, Have a Merry Christmas!

That tool costs 480€ where you are?
Its 230€ bare here.
Or did he give it to you with the charger and batteries?
@alouisschafer7212 the switch assemblies are €160 each.

Wiha sent in a set of their system 6 bits
Nice to see a Paslode trim gun? I'm not sure the number, see if I can find her
Would you recommend doing this to a unit bought second hand as preventative maintenance?
Yes
Merry Christmas u champion hope u get a chance to take a break
Merry Christmas Dean, bet you felt you where polishing a turd there
Did someone use cement instead of grease?
whats the grease u use?
Gotta know what brand overall would you recommend dewalt, Milwaukee, makita or another?

JEEEEEZE... How in the hell do you get so much dirt in it like that? What the hell was he cutting?
I'm guessing this was used for cutting charcoal?
Just wanted to come by on Christmas morning to wish you. and your family a very Merry Christmas and hope you ALL have a wonderful new year in 2025!!
What happen inside this recipsaw ? Really strange
That gearbox looks like a diesels air intake that hasnt had the EGR deactivated 😂 Coalmine.
Petit commentaire pour le réf !!! et le petit like qui fait plaisir...............
Merry Christmas to you and your family Dean. Can we have a cordless grinder review please.
Looks like it's been used to chop up lumps of coal Merry Christmas to all🎅🎅🎅
Tool was trying to take the coal dust and make Diamonds for Christmas. No Diamonds this year just coal, and a repair bill. 😥😥😥😥
Would love to know what in the world that man has been subjecting that saw to. Whatever it is it's some nasty stuff.
👍👍
24 all done, what'd be wrong with that?
Teardown a XGT Makita tool please
That's a good idea. I still haven't seen any 40v makita tools. Must buy a few to teardown
