growing up jewish, I found it interesting that the Torah scrolls were very well decorated plus the ark that they rested in. There was ceremony before, during and after the reading of Torah. Now that I am Orthodox, I see everything within the Church has ceremony and meaning, all is for the Love of Christ and His Church.

Are any Orthodox items or art ever made out of clay ? For instance the icon carvings , are they able to be carved in clay and painted and fired . Thanks , Christ is Risen ❤️‍🩹

My point would be that regarding the images in the TEMPLE, only one man went in and only once yearly. Everyone else saw the simple stone exterior.
Jews also have zodiacs in their synagogues. Where do you draw the line. The Oral Tradition of Judaism is worse than its icons of Noah; and Patristic Tradition is a fit analogue to it

Insightful analysis of a beautiful discovery. Honest question, what do you make of the prominence of Jewish funding, writing, production, and promotion in Weimar "art", Hollywood, gangster rap, pop, and the porn industries?

MORE IMPORTANTLY, what have you neglected from the synagogue? 7th day SABBATH, which your councils forbade !

    • @johnnyd2383
      @johnnyd2383 Місяць тому +2

Sabbath was, like everything else in the OT, a foreshadow of Christ, and had found its fulfillment in Him. Instead of having 1 day a week to rest, we, Christians, rest 24/7 in Christ: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matt 11,28)

      @@johnnyd2383 Classic blunder.
You make "fulfill" = "abolished" which you are forbidden to even think (Matt. 5:17-19).Every day is NOT the Sabbath. It can't be. Sabbath is a fixed element of the Creation order. Christ (Lk. 4:16), Apostle Paul (Acts 17:2), the earliest gentile converts (Acts 14:41), and all believers everywhere since ancient times kept the 7th day Sabbath (Acts 15:21).
What happened is that Church synods and councils deemed Sabbath KEEPERS to be heretics and, by threat of anathema, commanded us to break God's command (eg, Synod of Laodicea, canon 29).
In reality, a big gentile influx into the church, which was unfamiliar with the nuances of Judaism, fell under the spell of the *"mystery of LAWLESSness"* which Apostle Paul said was "already at work" in the church in his day (2 Thess. 2:7); and rather than celebrate Christ in as the *"Firstfruits* of them that slept" (1Cor.15:20) on the *Feast of Firstfruits* (which is always on a *Sunday* according to Sadduceean reckoning), they presumed in their arrogant ignorance to change Sabbath to Sunday: Constantine enforced Sabbatarian rest on "the venerable day of the SUN" by civil decree on March 7, 321 AD.
The Law of Moses, and Christ's conformity to it, weren't good enough examples of orthodoxy and orthopraxy: they needed to be improved by gentile emperors who dared to DAMN MEN FOR KEEPING GOD'S LAW !
Go pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you might clearly understand.

Can you please discuss the church’s views of Jewish people in general? The writings by the church fathers seem very hate filled. Such as one’s by St. John Chrystodom and St. Augustine. I know there were tensions between Christians and the Jewish community but I don’t see such venegeful speeches calling for the death or enslavement of Muslims or pagans, who were also in conflict with Christian communities at the time. It just seems a bit one sided and I don’t look at the saints in the best light currently because I have Jewish relatives and they shouldn’t be spoken of like that when they didn’t kill Jesus

It is important to understand. Pray sincerely, wth all your heart, to the Lord & He will open your eyes to the truth.
Like you, I also have relatives. I have close relatives, about whom I care deeply.
The Lord is good & wants us all to be in & with Him here & hereafter, but, having granted us freewill, will not force us. He respects our freedom, our freewill choice.

      These are not true.
Firstly, Muslims did not exist when St. John Chrysostom and St. Augustine were writing. When they did exist, people were quite critical of them (see St. John of Damascus).
Secondly, Jews were a problem because of Judaizers, and the saints were responsible to defend the Church against heresies more than they were responsible to be polite to everyone, which is a modern understanding of "kindness".

When the Saints speak on Jews they speak on the Jewish faith, not on any individual Jew. The Jewish faith itself holds extremely hate filled views towards Christians. For example in the Talmud it says our Lord Jesus was a magician and that he is boiling in hell in his own excrements, and that Mary the Theotokos was a prostitute. Forgive me for even uttering such foul words, but I needed you to know what they believe.
