And weirdly forgotten in the NRS Era, even with mk11 who use lot of customisation. I underdstand that the 3d Era was not the best for mk but come on.
He learned every fighting technique possible and defeated the Dragon King. Only to get mollywhooped by Shang Tsung at the pyramid of Argus.

This random, extra mode is still one of the best open worlds I've ever experienced. The NPC's have routines making it feel alive. Varied regions and realms. Dozens of Easter eggs and references. Intriguing lore. Spending ours doing exactly what's in this video. And it's in the MK universe.
SF6 is a great follow up
Too bad we never got to experience the full finished version! There’s tons of missing content and errors in it but it still came amazing and was part of my child hood

Deception Konquest was on another level. When I was younger playing this it felt so immersive and plentiful, and it has aged well. I still play on my PSP sometimes.

I remember playing this with my friend and we found out there was a punch button and we just punched everyone we saw it was hilarious I would love to play this game again

In fact, I vividly recall Kabal going a step further by punching you if you just bumped into him by accident
Some characters do have special bump interactions and most will punch you, I'm just editing the scripts so that you can punch anyone.

MK Deception's Conquest was an MK Lore Nerd's wet dream... I spent so many hours roaming that world as a kid.
I loved Konquest in Deception. It’s definitely my favorite. I loved exploring the different realms.

Deception’s Konquest mode was the ultimate open world game for me when I was a little kid, especially since all my GTA discs were either lost or broken.
Konquest Mode was such a jam.

I wonder if there are some leftovers of Shang Tsung island in Konquest, we have a couple of stages from that island and Shujinko's story quest that was abruptly cut and it makes me think it was actually intended to be in the game.
That's a great idea to think over, maybe they were meant for a rematch in their old men form
Could be that he was suppose to make it to the island for the tournament but gets sidetracked with other things and doesn’t actually participate in it
Damachi/Onaga would’ve forced Shujinko to not participate, iirc when he tried joining the tournament through the Lin Kuei Damachi demanded him not to and to focus on getting the Kamidogu.
I don't think there's much of anything unused in konquest due to how they built these maps/quests, I guess I could look around with a free camera but even then there's not much stuff (or I didn't explore enough), only found some dead bodies in outworld that are invisible to player.
You know, those realms look different in the 3D Era than they do in the Reboot Era, especially what Kung Jin said about Outworld.
It's because the artstyle back then was more gore and depresing (in a good way) Nowadays if you see outworld is just earth 2.0 with some areas that look a little bit gory but with way too much brighness on it.

This was before Netherrealm studios changed the lore and look for the realms! Midway games got shut down after Armageddon was a failure

Back in those days, Mortal Kombat from 1 to Armageddon was the real thing.
I was hoping that the last one would be Shao Kahn. IIRC he blocks the hit, knocks you on YOUR ass, then taunts you.

I loved Deceptions Konquest mode when it came out. But, damn, has it aged like milk. It is extremely basic and clunky. Very ambitious for what Mortal Kombat was at the time.
I like how chilled the NPCs are when you punch someone. Like they’re not even mad, only confused “wtf what did you do that for?”

CJ sought to test his combat skills while sparking riots in Earthrealm, Ilkan, realm of Chaos, Rellim Ohcanep, Hinpar, Xaa and Outworld. The thrill of riots and combat overtook him. Kano recognised the potential of CJ's brutal nature and his superhuman powers. There were realms left for him to start his riots. He spotted another portal in the Nexus and wondered where this portal would lead him to. He went through the portal and appeared in a realm where the law and structure took place.
Inside one of the Manhattan-like buildings, a guard in bluish-black armour with gold outlines sensed a disturbance that came through a portal.
“What is it?”
“I can sense an outsider.”
“Realm of Chaos?”
“Earthrealm. That outsider’s power exceeds beyond that of ours and no one from other realms managed to stop.”
“Don’t forget our training by Commander Hotaru!”
Every Seidan guard wore a full upper body suit of armour. The armour was bluish-black with gold outlines and covered his entire upper torso. Some wore a black helmet with metal gold mouth guard with two tassels sticking out the side.
As CJ went for a walk across the city centre with its iconic pyramid at the centre, enclosed by fountains and moats, he felt it was too civilised and too structural. He looked around his surroundings and noticed Seidan guards patrolling across the area. Men and women wore hooded kimonos. He thought grimly.
“Look at all those punk ass busters walking about!”
A young woman in a cream hooded kimono approached him and advised CJ.
“I can tell that you’re new to this realm. My advice to you is to stay out of trouble. The laws here are very strict.”
As the woman left, CJ scarcely paid heed to any advice. He could almost admire her beauty until a Seidan guard approached.
“You there, stop where you are!”
“What the fuck do you want?” asked CJ.
The Seidan guard was unfazed by his tone and continued to warn the Grove Street member.
“While you’re visiting this realm you will obey our laws.”
“Did you get bullied at school, officer?!” asked CJ.
“Ignorance is no excuse for criminal activities.”
“Officer, I do a lot of good in the community!”
“This realm was founded upon the principles of law and order.”
“I’m not in a mood for your bullshit.”
“Not freedom.”
“Officer, you really starting to annoy me!” sighed CJ.
“Freedom leads to anarchy. Anarchy leads to chaos. Chaos leads to sufferings.”
The insult was too much. At once, CJ lashed out with his fist, and caught his foe a bone-crunching blow that sent him skating miles away over the platform edge. Such violence caused the Seidan guards to pay attention to his ally who fell off the platform edge. The guards realised the tourist started this riot.
A Seidan guard beat CJ’s head from behind and immobilised him. With CJ at his mercy, two more of the guards rushed and stabbed CJ in the chest by a spear. CJ gave a cry of agony. Success! Now what? However, they felt something was wrong. Despite being stabbed, CJ asked.
“You like wearing uniform? Who the fuck are you guys? Who do you think you’re fucking with?”
The guards were shocked by how near-invincible he was. He had medium if not high pain tolerance.
“What sort of species this outsider is?” asked a guard with a bald head.
“I’m about to lose my temper.” warned CJ.
“Is he part of the Resistance?” asked another guard with short black hair.
“Havik is no doubt behind this.”
“Who the fuck is Havik?” asked CJ.
Still fazed by him not getting killed, the guards did not know whom they were dealing with.
“I know I need more exercise, but not like this!”
CJ jumped ten feet high into the air, surprising the Seidan guards. He landed, crashing on the enemies and punched a guard, shattering his bones. Another was shot by his sawn off shotgun. He grabbed the last guard by his head and attacked him with his knee before finishing him with a punch that made him rocket miles away.
“This is gonna get real nasty fool.” CJ warned.
In Goldtown, Hotaru and his guards patrolled the area. A guard hurried to alert his leader. He spoke in a panic tone.
“Hotaru, this is rather urgent that there is a riot…”
“Woah, slow down! What exactly is going on?”
“There is someone who I guess is from the realm of Chaos has been instigating riots here.”
“We’ve dealt with riots. So what?”
“No, this one is something we’ve never encountered before.”
“Havik.”
“No, this one is someone…”
“The Resistance?”
“This is far more powerful than any of us could handle. If these riots continue, we may be forced to deputise more troops.”
“Describe what you’re saying!” urged Hotaru.
Thousands of people of Goldtown, Redtown, Bluetown and Greentown rioted in cities and towns, which saw looting, arson, as well as mass deployment of Seidan guards and the deaths of five people. The inhabitants of these towns fled back into their houses. CJ looted koins.
“That's going in my retirement fund!”
CJ threw grenades at the Seidan guards, Seidan Resistance, blasted them like bowling pins. He also fired sawn off shotguns at the guards and civilians. He burned Manhattan-like buildings. 100 Seidan guards were hurt, two men and one woman were seriously injured.
“What is he?” asked a guard.
“No one knows. No one can’t kill him or arrest him.”
CJ arrived at a section of Redtown where the people ran about in panic.
“CHAOS RETURNS?! AAAH!”
“ORDER IS DEAD?! AH!”
“CHAOS?! AAAH!”
“WHAT? CHAOS, YOU SAY?! AAAH!”
“IS IT THE END OF ORDER?! AAAH!”
“Make your life longer, stop running, fools!” CJ advised.
The already panicked men, running here and there, witnessed the high level of violence from CJ. One of the civilians died due to heart attack while others managed to retreat into their houses. A voice called.
“Stop right there, outsider!”
CJ fled across the open plaza, dwarfed among towering obelisks and towers. The ground shook as an ominous rumble rolled towards him. Seidan guards appeared from various parts of the realm then spilled from all corners. Disciplined guards, armed, gathered to the attack. Scores, hundreds, swarmed from every building, under arches and along colonnades, and ran like a flood to surround the rioter trapped in the plaza. The one-man army skittered to a halt. The guards closed in, hundreds upon hundreds, weapons drawn. Their white eyes burned with hate. CJ stood firm and pointed his sawn off shotgun at first one then another. It would make no difference; he was hopelessly outnumbered.
“You want me to stop, huh?”
CJ surprised the guards by relying on his superhuman jump and landed with a crash onto the guards. A man in red kimono praised.
“Hotaru is our most celebrated hero. I believe he will rule this realm one day.”
CJ took out his baseball bat and beat him.
“You, savage. I will inform the guards of your brutality.”
The man was terrified by his brutality and begged for mercy. CJ without mercy beat him.
“You know, you fucking wimp.”
Money was scattered on the cobblestone road.
“Give me that shit!”
The guards rushed at their target who avoided and fired his sawn off shotgun that appeared to be near-infinite.

“Come on, man! Let’s do this!” shouted CJ.
"That has gone far enough!"
CJ turned to look at Hotaru.
"This is gonna get real ugly in a minute."
"Ignorance is no excuse. I'm placing you under arrest for disregarding the laws of this city. Your trial will take place." Hotaru declared.
"My tax money go to this shit?!"
The Seidan guards arrested CJ and Hotaru looked at the guards escorting CJ into prison. Throughout the days in prison, the two guards stood by the door, trying to put up with CJ's noise.
"You gonna fail me for calling you a bitch, Bitch?! You get job satisfaction, one time? Hey, I'm walking away from this one time."
"I have no desire to converse with a criminal."
"I don't care about your bullshit, copper."
"I will not be as confident, if I were you." a Seidan guard warned.
"Whatever motherfucker, you don't scare me."
At 8 PM, the guards slumped, unable to watch their prisoner. With them sleeping, CJ miraculously sprang out (literally!) of prison without rousing suspicion. At 7 AM, the guards got up and watched about the prison. They realised that something was missing.
"The prisoner..."
"How? We guarded the door. There's no way he could escape."
"How did he get out?"
"Whatever he did when we slept..."
CJ hurried and caused more riots.
"I'M DOWN FOR THIS SHIT."
CJ punched a woman in blue kimono, sending her skating miles away. The people panic and fled upon his approach. Koins lay scattered on the ground.
"HEY, GO CHASE SOME MOTHER, FOOL!"
CJ put the songs from channel KDST on his portable radio cassette. The volume was so high that it caused the guard to shiver from practicing his slide whistle.
"OUTSIDER!"
"Here we go again." CJ sighed.
Hotaru confronted and cited all the activities done by CJ.
"I thought I made it clear to have you imprisoned. Now, I see you escaped and instigated riots."
"Cop asshole! I'm tired of running and I'm tired of your shit."
"Now, you're just talking freely. When the laws are put to place, you should obey them. Instead Havik or Darrius must have hired you."
"I don't know those motherfuckers. You're an even bigger motherf..."
"Enough! Your sentence will be death."
This led to a fight between CJ and Hotaru. Havik, Darrius, Shujinko, Bo' Rai Cho and Dairou watched the fight between one from Earthrealm and one from Seido. Kenshi stopped and listened to the sounds of fighting and CJ's loud mouth. CJ proved to be every bit as tough as he was in all of his previous fights. CJ backed up his loud mouth with actions and proved his bravery twice over through his super human strength and enhanced endurance, and took the battle right to the commander of the military police. After a hard fought battle, CJ defeated Hotaru.
"NOW, STAY THE FUCK DOWN!"
Havik watched from afar that chaos had been achieved. Shujinko felt compelled to confront CJ.
"Who are you? Are you from Earthrealm?"
"Are you born stupid or are you a professional moron?"
"That's a question you should ask after the fight."
"You're in real shit now."
CJ and Shujinko fought each other. Shujinko shapeshifted into Liú kāng.
"You do realise I'm black."
CJ and Liú kāng faced each other in hand to hand combat. The apprentice of Bo' Rai Cho brought all of his skills, from himself to to the ability to morph into any fighter he chose (Mileena, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kabal, Ermac, Kobra, Kira, etc...). But CJ fought past all of it, delivering a vicious beatdown to Shujinko. Finally, CJ knocked Shujinko to the ground, leaving him beaten.
"You got to understand. I don't give a fuck."
Havik was unable to bear CJ's version of chaos and riots.
"Whatever is going on?"
"I thought you wanted chaos to achieve." said Darrius.
"Yes, but not like that. That is overwhelming chaos that even my realm couldn't handle. Do you think my people could handle this version of chaos, if this trouble maker is... oh no!"
"What is it, Havik?" asked Dairou.
"That one from Earthrealm is heading to my realm. I must stop him from doing this. It's going to get messier and worse my people."
Poor Reptile. Gets his race enslaved, and knocked out by a old man, then gets possessed by Onaga because of old man.
All realms fear him
