  • No cam motion or particle effects for solar prominence added just yet, I just wanted to get a 4K render off to see if the star was in the right ballpark and the ship's motion path in the right places as per the original broadcast version.
No post yet, will likely be some flares, lens dirt, chromatic aberrations, the usual shit. I'd have preferred to give Voyager some more banking angle as it flies off around the sun, to prevent it looking too much like a sprite, but I'm doing my best to keep it as close to the original as possible, with added detail, rather than barrel rolls. Right now I'm focusing on the next segment in the nebula, as it's the most complicated to deal with, I'll come back to this once it's done.
There are more test shots of this, and other sections on neonvisual if you're interested in seeing previs of 55 million particles in an 850GB sim for the nebula section...

Please try model and make a ST:Discovery opening credits. Who knows, they might use it. All your opening credits are awesome.

I do not endorse STD. It's looking like the 3rd prequel in a row made for the TOS fanbase of 40+ yearolds. I am not one of them, and have no real motivation in engaging with it,, At this point, the more firmly it's pushed as nu trek, the more aggressively I'm rejecting it.
One does not decide to make a prequel, then once again retcon everything to suit. It's simply not going to be accepted by the fanbase they think they are appealing to.

That's true, it's not part of the TOS/TNG existence which is a shame. A post-VOY series would have been wonderful, or even an Enterprise-J 25th century continuation. What I'm hoping for is that ST:Discovery will run and allow other series to spawn as spinoffs which actually appeal to the fanbase more. This show seems to be a strategy to recruit more fans. Almost like Stage 1 of a multi-stage plan to bring Star Trek back for another 50 years, which they have been quoted saying.

Unfortunately it's gone so far in the wrong direction for me. I'm a die hard trek fan, as per the thousands of hours I put in to my little corner of the internet, but there is absolutely no way, shape or form another TOS prequel tat is going to give me any hope of securing the future of humanity.
These idiots seem to think that their entire fanbase is TOS fans, so they keep rehashing the same crap time and time again.
They have no idea what they are meddling with, and it will be their undoing. It's a lame duck and already rejected before pre-production commenced. unilaterally by everyone under the age of 40.
They are still not listening. Please don't count on my channel being supportive of this car crash in any reality. CBS will give it a 2nd series, play down the failure, and we'll then be back to square one again. The problem isn't Trek, it's dipshit career executives who hand over the keys to fanboys like Fuller with whackjob nostalgic ideas of reliving their childhoods on a multi million dollar budget.
      With respect sir, fuck that.

As a die-hard trek fan aswell, I grew up with Voyager every night and TNG on VHS. That was the best childhood experience I could have ever hoped for. Its the reason I'm now a scientist. Sadly the 2009 movie really proved how blockbusters are the only thing left for us. Im glad Star Wars is at least being kept alive to its true threads with Rebels and Clone Wars and Rogue One. They're keeping to lore and keeping the fanbase happy. When G.A Thrawn was brought in, it was the best moment ever. But I dont see Discovery bringing in The Borg or The Dominion or The Cardassians which really dwindles the chances of the show to be "True" Star Trek. Its why 25th century, or late 24th century would have been so much more opportunistic. They deliberately shot themselves in the foot with TOS time periods. However, I could be wrong, and I hope I am because I'll watch it regardless of it's Trek status. Still, CBS really does need to learn to reach out and find out what the fanbase thinks is appropriate. We kept it alive after all. Otherwise, once they scoop up "new" fans, who will then go and re-watch the originals, they'll wonder why Discovery happened at all. In the world we live in, we really need something like TNG again. Its not so hard for them to do it, but they really dont see the big picture. It's just small-picture inter-broadcasting-corporation-competition. Still, lets hope for the best. We owe Star Trek that. If trek taught us anything, its a hopeful future.
Side note, your Voyager opening credits so far looks spectacular. Keep it up!
