LOVED the drivers license news…I had been driving for fifty years when the reality of my Spanish license came up..and I read perfectly. It was the most traumatic experience of my life. The kid giving me driving lessons basically did not know how to drive. This took place in Jerez.

Not American, and am quite familiar with moving, but still some good tips for anyone considering the move from the U.S.
We've been living out of two suitcases each for 8 or so years. I think that's definitely one of the most important tips. You don't need nearly as much as you think you do! It's often much more expensive to bring everything over than it is to replace.
The one thing I am not looking forward to is the dining times, as you've described. By 9/10, we're chilling on the couch watching UA-cam and Netflix- not going out to eat! 😂

    • @ACoupleofNomads

Yes, perfect time to FREE yourself from the stuff! Back in the states dinner was 4:30 and passed out on the couch by 9:30….Haha.

knowing the language is not only extremely helpfull (and pragmatic) to live in a foreign NOT ANGLO SPEAKING country.
It's a sign of respect towards us, a sign of commintment (you are gonna stay so we can be friends, not only a temporal acquaintances)
We use to be gratefull and kind and really openmind if you come to us speaking our language.

Great video guys! We also lived in Spain. A couple notes for your next video. Talk about the different power between USA and Spain. So many folks don't know when they move to Spain their 110 is not 240. Leave all 110 at home!! Also point out you live in the Caledonia area of Spain which is very differnet than the Basque and Andelucia areas. Spend more time on the VISA process. Show folks what is needed to get through the endless red tape. Otherwise, fantastic video!

Regarding lunch. In Valencia you definetly can eat at around 11-12. At that time frame is you are eating the almuerzo, which is more of a mediterranean thing. Almuerzo would be the closest thing to an anglo-saxon lunch break. Valencia has a very strong almuerzo tradition so there are plenty of bars that serve you food at that time frame.

Hey! You don't know the word merienda, it is the third meal of the day. People have a merienda at cafeterias around 17-18 can be a coffee with milk with some piece of cake, or chocolate with churros or a small bocadillo.

Thanks for the informative video. I appreciate all of the information. (PS I edit and mix for large UA-cam channels and TV shows and one thing I would encourage you guys to do is mix the dialogue a little bit louder and don't use music underneath you when you're speaking. Between the Cicadas and the music it's hard to understand what you're saying sometimes and the focus of all of the information should be dialogue first, environment second. Use music to connect sections but not to underscore dialogue.) Good luck and again thank you for the information!

Spain does not hire fashion police. I love Valencia, the American community is getting larger. But my other half is enamored with Picasso's birthplace. We typically eat out at lunch, many restaurants offer the menu of the day which can be 8-12€ typically, that usually includes a 3 course meal and a drink. Dinner is usually tapas which can vary in price but are typically 4-6€ each. Beers or a glass of wine about 2€. Our insurance is about 50€ a month each no deductibles and no copay. I hope that helps!
