There’s something like 2,000 wild boar in the FoD, apparently, although even as someone who regards it as my ‘local’, I don’t see them very often. That said, my Working Cocker got chased by one a couple of months ago, and luckily, he was fast enough to get away from it, as they will kill a dog.
Try over Pillowell, Whitecroft and Parkend way there's lots. See them all the time when I'm walking the dogs. Mistook one for a pony when I was riding a few weeks ago 🤢
A good friend of mine lives in the Forest (I mean literally less than 10m from it) and whenever I've been riding with him we've never hit the trail centre. It's amazing how much riding there is over there!
Great vid . The trail you came off on is pretty steep to be fair . Great fun though . The trail straight after I haven’t ridden (yet) but it’s in my list now for sure👍
I live literally 5 minute bike ride from the DH drop of at FOD, never get bored so many off piste trails, The largest amount of boar weve seen at any one time is approximately 50. Way to many to count, They even have beavers recently re introduced by Brierley, Have you ridden Staunton, Yorkley/pillowell,
So glad you like the natural trails at the FoD. There are many and all amazing. I love the ones you did in this video. I've been riding here for years and this year is the first time I've seen bore too. They are amazing. Hope you get back to do more
I live in the Forest (5 minute drive or 25 minute ride from Cannop) and noticed a big uptick in the number of Boar families. Scary to come across when walking the dog, never approach them, especially if they have babies. They were accidentally reintroduced a while ago. They also have reintroduced pine martins and beavers, though they are in enclosures currently.
There have been quite a few reports of them not being scared of humans. You did the right thing on your video to stop and not approach. Would have been best to retreat abit but once their young were away they generally move on...well most. If they charge I usually put my bike between me and them not that it would do much 😅
Yeah I can imagine that they give off a different vibe when you are out in the woods alone. I didn’t actually get the name of the place. I’ll have to have a search on google maps. I was trying to do some location scouting while I was there but there is zero phone signal😅. If you are familiar with the area it was only a couple of minutes drive away from the cycle centre
The boar haven't always been there, they were reintroduce several years ago. People were concerned when it was anounced that theyd be making a comback but they looked like they're more scared of you than agressive. What is worrying is the campaign to reintroduce wolves to britains woodlands.🤔
Hey, there's nothing boring about wild boar. Especially in a sausage sarnie 🤣. Another great video......keep up the great work

What an amazing place to live. Yeah there is so much there to ride.
We were at fod a few weeks ago. Rode some fun trails at mallards pike .

@@davidhalson4563 Awesome. No I’ve not been to Staunton or Yorkley. I’ll have to have a search online and see what they are all about.

They were great. Can’t wait it go back.
@@bikeandbeyond glad to hear. The rest are a real hoot
Looks EPIC!
Was great to be back in the bike again 👍🏻
Once had one run in front of me very near to where you saw them👍

Yeah good advice. I can’t imagine they mix too well with dog walkers (or MTBers for that matter).

Amazing video, Where are these trails located?
Boar are all over the place in Devon and Cornwall. They're cool, but best avoided this time of year.
Nice forest pig spotting .. Scary , when you’re alone in the woods . Are these trails at mallards pike ?

Not Mallards Pike, but not too far away. Take a drive around the area and look for lay bys with lots of vans. 😉
These look incredible any hints of where they are???
I can tell ya lad
I'm not from anywhere near there

Ah got ya if ya had done the main trail centre at forest of Dean they are on the back of it
Is the voodoo bizango still your recommended hard tail?
Thinking about getting the non pro version 2nd hand just to keep within budget 🤣
Yeah, mine is still going strong. It’s definitely a great bike for the price tag.

Yeah Wolves might be a bit tricky for those of us who like to ride solo 😅
They like to feed on carbon frames
👍🏼
