If I am correct DigiKam cannot see the photos where they already are but has to import them - which means copying them in another place. It is totally unusable if you have already organized your photos in some hardrive because you have to copy them ALL again...lightroom does a better job because there is no need to copy
Thanks but after spending hours i found this software not intuitive at all ...and I have been working pro on PS LR etc...just adding folder without importing is a pain, some "albums" cannot be deleted for unknown reasons etc...not sure I will waste much more time...

digiKam will only import them if you ask it to. Otherwise, it indexes them right where that are. Like you, I already have my photos where I want them.
