nice suggestion, and finally someone else who doesn't like tripods!! I consider them quite a necessary evil, but I didn't know platypods, I think they can be a good solution sometimes!
Interesting video, Tom. I’ve tried a few different rigs when in hides and a lot of them feel very unstable just sitting loose on the shelf. How stable is yours? Any fear of your camera vanishing out the window? I’m actually getting to be a fan of tripod use in a hide, but I still prefer handholding most of the time because I feel a bit restricted if the camera is clamped down to something.
Hi Andrew, the stability is pretty good! Sometimes the issue I have found is height, that the hide shelf is too low for me to use the Platypod + Gimbal Head effectively, so I might need to add another element for that scenario. I will try and update this topic for you in a future video!
I’m too clumsy to get the camera on a tripod without a lot of fuss. Been avoiding taking one out.
