I don't know what it is, but there is something really powerful and emotional about listening to a big group of people singing together. Hits me right in my heart every time.
It was written after the Irish Republican 'Army' attacked and murdered children outside a McDonald's Restaurant in Warrington in Northern England in early 1993. Ironically, an Irish immigrant population of England. You couldn't make the stupidity of it all up really.
I believe its due to the overtone all their vocals create, I know exactly what you mean too!! Gives me shivers all the way up my spine and around the top of my skull 😄 it's almost like our ancestors are joining in aswell
There’s something particularly moving about this rendition of “Zombie”. Already a powerful song about the senselessness of violence and how it claims innocent lives, hearing it get sung by a chorus somehow gives this song even more power, because it imbues the song with a sense of collective passion, which I believe Dolores o’Riordan wanted people to feel all along. Rest in power Dolores, and may you continue to inspire others to end violence wherever they are.
@Rebecca Cable That's not true Rebecca. The IRA began the violence as resistance against British Rule. The British didn't start it to fight against their own rule.......

When I remember the notion of an angelic choir in heaven this makes so much sense. Perhaps, for some or many, it might be but a parable. The amount of emotions I get from this when I allow it to overwhelm me is astonishing. The Word is 'love' - and being able to come together like this is a testimony to our human capability of pure connection. If we are made in the image of God the sound we create together perhaps makes 'us' One - (like) the divine. I hope the world can come together in song to lift us all to a better place in connection with spirit and nature.
Also, as I stare at all their faces I can celebrate their individuality as they participate in group form making one piece of art consisting of all their sound.

For us Irish people this song means a lot because of what happened in 1916
Michael Mulligan i actually heard this first in school (germany) while learning about irish and british history.
But this song is not only about 1916 but about the entire north irish conflict since then. "It's the same old theme since 1916"
It's true the words, dissident republicans are still planting bombs and shooting daily trying to destroy the peace process
And the important thing is ‘it’s not me, it;s not my family’ as there are many whom take no side, and just wish it would stop.
It was written in response to the Warrington bombing by the IRA in 1993.
And Bad Wolves changed it up to make it current and it's still powerful
Just quiet quality music that can bring people together for once. I honestly love it.
Wow. Just the raw emotion that welled up in me with this. Amazing.
