I hope you guys have been enjoying the theory lessons. I'm having a lot of fun making them! -- "Linking Chords With Lead Lines" and "Find The Chords To Any Song Part 3" are coming soon. 😁
Man, I can't explain how happy I am to have found your channel. Your teachings are very well explained and have really stuck with me over the last week or two since discovering your channel. I've watched a bunch of the videos in your lessons series so far and they've all knocked it out of the park. Keep it up, I can't wait to learn more stuff!
Just learning how to find all the chords in a key and which key a song is in has completely transformed my playing. It's been such a "the penny has finally dropped" moment. Now I actually try and find the chords in a song myself before looking at tab - and I find it has completely opened me up creatively. And those books with a million chord shapes with crazy sounding names now actually make sense - but I don't need them. So thanks so much for this!
Song lessons and how to plays are great they have their place on youtube I watch them all the time. But if you truly wanna improve this is the shit you need to be watching. These types of channels are the real gems. Thank you for putting this kinda stuff out there for the people who cant go to schools. cant take lessons etc. Taking the time to do it. You are a great teacher.
I really enjoy these videos. I have watched the whole series. You explain the concepts very clearly and in a manner that is not confusing. Can’t wait for the next one.
Magnificent. I don't think you are appreciated enough. You found fantastic ways to explain western music theory in a practical and non-technical way. Well done.
Thank you Thank you Thank you....for your hard work work and gifted heart to give us real music lessons....after practice..I am enlight educated and humble to a Pea...lol....but I learn
Great explanation, this and many other your videos were truely a "key' to my understanding of music theory and of guitar playing. It took it to higher level. Thank you
I found your channel a week ago and I’m just keep watch everyday, man you deserve more subscribers. All this time i have struggling to know between keys and chords although i thought i play good but you make me start from beginning to learn it good the guitar. Thank you andrew
My first Andrew Clarke video was on CAGED system about two weeks ago. Having watched a dozen or more previous videos on that topic, I was amazed at the light bulbs you turned on in my head that no others expounded on. This video has had similar results! One minor comment. At 14:58, as you're moving up 7th chords for key of C, one (Cmaj7), two (Dm7), three (Em7), four (Fmaj7)... your audio says F minor 7, then on to five (G7). Please don't take this as criticism, it's just it took me while to figure out why the four was minor, and if it helps someone else that's a good thing. By the way, you do refer to the four at 15:07 as Fmaj7. Thanks again for great lesson. I've liked and subscribed.
I appreciate that! And oops! I totally missed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I try to add corrections in the video when I mess something up. But definitely missed that one. Thank you for watching and subbing!
Andrew, I've discoverd your channel yesterday, and I see that you have content some paid courses have and you're even better in explaining and showing examples sometimes. Your channel is gold for me and I hope it will grow and you will acomplish your goals on youtube.
I liked been able to mix things up adding 7th chords but find it different to play the am7 with root on 5th string. I know this was for demonstration purposes and these chords and their inversions can be played all over the neck. I would like to see seventeen roots in a video on the low 6 six string. Thanks Andrew great video!
Hey Andrew, great video! Just as a future video idea, could you explain why (as in musical effect) one uses a certain type of chord. There were hints in this video, like explaining minor (sad) and major (more happy), the fifths as neutral and B minor 7th flat 5 as a dissonant perfectly snug in the C-major scale to use and resolve without sweat.
I often wonder about how music theory even started. I suspect the Sumerians were playing 1, 4, 5 songs before notes were put on paper and scales defined.
Hey, Andrew! So I've hit a mental block on the Major vs Minor scales. I've tried watching the section threw several times but I'm just not getting it totally. Do we simply apply the Maj Min Min Maj Maj Min formula in that section as it is? Or is there a reason other than that where I know to use the minor triad instead of the major triad?
My friend you are going to fast for a lot of people, teachers in schools of any knowledge should never presume everyone understands what they are saying, for instance you used the word : fret, a beginner who tunes into your channel won't know what a fret is. There are beginners wanting to learn but are turned away and lose interest if they cannot find a teacher that will take their time and go slow and explain everything along the way of what they are speaking about, maybe you should start your lessons by saying this lesson are for those past beginner stage. Because a beginner tuning in won't even know what a bar chord is or even how to tune a guitar. If you would just slow down a little it would get more attentive attention to your class. You have a lot of good knowledge to help many interested in guitar, I'm just trying in a nice way to alert you to a suggestion of slowing down a little so more people can follow what you are teaching.

Hi sr. Plssss review HOFNER SHORTY TRAVEL GUIATAR .🙏🏻
I often wonder about how music theory even started. I suspect the Sumerians were playing 1, 4, 5 songs before notes were put on paper and scales defined.
When a momma note and a daddy note really love each other, they form a bond together to create a chord. Then a stork delivers the chord in its beak.
😂😂
Hey, Andrew!
So I've hit a mental block on the Major vs Minor scales. I've tried watching the section threw several times but I'm just not getting it totally.
Do we simply apply the Maj Min Min Maj Maj Min formula in that section as it is?
Or is there a reason other than that where I know to use the minor triad instead of the major triad?
Have you watched my video on Minor keys? It's the same formula, but the starting point is the 6th note instead of the 1st.
@@andrewclarkeguitar that was next on my list! I'll go through that one and apply that to this one, thanks for the response!
do I need to watch a video about the minor scale to understand this one?
Nope!
@@andrewclarkeguitar Thanks!
What is it man ,how much coffee do you consume
I dont understand, how did u know the fifth?
It's an interval. So a perfect fifth (often shortened to "fifth") is 7 semi-tones from the root.
@@andrewclarkeguitar thanks for teaching
Meh
