Now there’s no need for excessive force (I’ve unfortunately seen people use the self defence argument for a man sending a woman flying in retaliation to a slap across the face for grabbing her wrist when she tried to leave, they were claiming self defence when the punched her) and no one should jump to physical confrontation unless they feel they’re in legitimate danger but if someone is threatening your safety self defence is required and it doesn’t matter who is the threat
