- The Heiltsuk Nation is preparing for the opening of the Gvúkva’áus Haíɫzaqv (house of the Haíɫzaqv). The Canadian government banned the potlatch from 1885 to 1951. They attempted to kill our way of life and failed. We are shifting history and making it a celebration because the ancestors fought so hard to keep our culture alive.
Please share how the opening of the Haíɫzaqv λiác̓i (Heiltsuk Bighouse) makes you feel with the hashtag: #HeiltsukBighouseOpening

Stunning and incredibly beautiful Longhouse of the Heilsuk Nation. A big house first in 120 years in Bella Bella. A virtue to the Globe for healing and Indigenous Coastal Cultural practices.
Congratulations from "the wolf people" from Catalonia that visit you last october. Good job!.
What actually makes your tribe these days legit? Does your tribe only use traditional tools and clothing as well as methods of hunting and survival? We would love to support my tribe that actually lived in the traditional ways and not have all of the modern conveniences including clothing, computers, cars, televisions, Etc... we believe that there is a market for people to come and Witness aboriginals acting like they were 200 years ago! Actually living off the land without televisions, radios, microwaves, refrigerators, all the wonderful advances of the western world! This seems to be a cry out why so many aboriginals that want to set themselves as entitled if they can convince us that they follow the traditional ways! Let's see what happens!
