    Oh man this actually made me cry. being new to skating isn't easy, for both males and females. But you have to admit females get more shit for it, for actually trying. we've all been there. So glad to see the home girls going places. this is what I crave, a strong female skating community who conveys nothing but love and support. I'm privileged to have had the chance to skate with them at events. keep it up

    girls commenting on this video: wow I defiantly understand what the main character feels, going to skateparks can be incredibly intimidating and men there can be very misogynistic. Even if they're nice its usually based in the idea that girls cant skate and that they need to be "helped" by a man.
    every man watching this video: not all men at skate parks are like that ://// i hit on every girl i see at skateparks :/// they shouldn't feel oppressed ://///

    The film shows how girls feel at a skatepark not necessarily what people say but I know that when I go skate this is exactly what I'm afraid off. Like how guys will think of me skating

    This is dope man. The discomfort that comes with being a girl in a skatepark, especially when you’re just starting is definitely what discouraged girls from getting involved in it, which sucks.

      Jamie Kern if you come in pink and all foraled up and don't take the time to understand there are rules to this community then yes.. thats true. But this applies to barbies as does it apply to kens. Doesnt mean yiu have to come in all black and fake. Be yourself and be honest about why you have come. Skateboarding is about rebellion, against stupid rules in society. Against "the odd, superficial and material world out there". We want no dolls around. Coming super girly is basically like going into a nazi bar all dressed up as a nativr mexican. And coming in miu miu is simply silly.

    The gender discrimination that was portrayed at the skater park is just an exaggeration of the discrimination that any girl faces starting something that is predominantly a 'male thing'. It is obviously not supposed to portray real life but simply give us a glimpse of the struggle that women face compared to the guys. Anyway, that what I got from it... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @cheesedon1 8 років тому +12

      You agree with this? You want people to believe that women of skateboarding are treated badly or some shit. Skate parks are nothing like that. This video is just patronising women who skate and made em seem weak or something. The intention the film makers had was kinda good, but in reality this is just disrespectful to the culture of skateboarding especially girls that skate. Ridiculous.

    i think the important thing to take away from the scene at the skatepark with all of the male skaters is that just because you didn't have that same experience, doesn't mean you speak for everyone, especially for females who have had bad experiences at the skatepark with other dudes!!!!! it's really great that some of y'all didn't have to go through that, but i think that the film was trying to capture something that is very possible and has probably happened to a lot of women trying to take up skating

    • @issacsimpson2008
      @issacsimpson2008 6 років тому +4

      it has for sure, it happened to a friend of mind that's a girl and she's just a beginner, some guy was yelling at her to get out the way, when she was not in the way at all, and then when she moved to the other side of the skatepark, the guy came all the way over there just to taunt her, and she ended up leaving. So yeah this is very very possible, especially in a skatepark like this.

    Don't understand why people are mad that they can't relate to her experience so they brush it off like it doesn't actually happen. It doesn't happen all the time or every time women go to skate park but it does happen to women (in any male dominant sport) that's what the film is trying to show. AND YES NOT ALL MEN ARE LIKE THIS YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPEAT IT IN THE COMMENTS WE GET IT.
