  • I bought Tropicfeel shoes in order to ony have one shoe in my small backpack. I did not find a long-term review before buyng, only new-shoe-reviews which do not give the whole picture on performance and durability. This is the review of how the shoes did in all sorts of different conditions and activities.
    The review is not sponsored by Tropicfeel.
    I'm Liisu, a 27 year-old doctor from Estonia and in December 2021 I quit my job to travel the world with Joe, my partner.

    My tropicfeels struggle to last on the tough streets of London! They are not durable in anyway but are super comfy!

    To be fair, if I wore a pair of addidas or nike, they probably wouldn't last 6 months with what you put them through.
    But thank you for the honest review, we need more reviews like this, not fake " influencers" reading from the website.

    They seem like the perfect sneakers for water activities + general walking in good weather + versatile enough to look good with dressier clothes (like you said), but I would argue you need something sturdier if you're going on a long hike (something that has actual grip and structure, like boots).

    • @Mustmaasikas
      @Mustmaasikas  2 роки тому

      I think we actually agree on that one - big sturdy boots are the best for hiking! (Did I understand you correctly?) But my dilemma came from the fact that I could only pack on pair of closed shoes and did not take into account that I really like hiking in the mountains. So the next time, when choosing shoes, it is an issue still needing resolving: how to pack one light pair of everyday walking shoes and another pair for hardcore hikes. What is your take on this, do you have any recommendations?

    • @sincerelysof
      @sincerelysof Рік тому

      @@Mustmaasikas I would say, wear the light pair like these Tropic feel shoes to the airport and what not and pack sturdier boots for hiking. Sometimes you just really need more options for the different situations you may encounter. The perfect shoe just doesn't exist.

      @@sincerelysof i recommend wearing the boots on the flight cause weight restrictions, and keeping the lightweights in bag.

    Great review! Thanks for the info. IMO that's amazing that they made it for 6 months as the only pair of shoes in all of those conditions. $100 for 6 months for all of that!? That's reasonable. And yet, so awesome that the company comp'd you a new pair. I think it's unrealistic to expect a pair of minimalist $100 shoes being worn day in and day out for absolutely everything during adventures and travel, to last 2 years. 6 months makes sense to me for such lightweight shoes to break down after all of that. The wear is a sign of some great use!

    I wear them as super comfy everyday spring-summer-autumn shoes and they will not last more than 1 year (the monsoon version). The sole would come loose, my big toe would come through the mesh and the heel lip would get damaged as well (no issues with laces though). Yet, I'm on my second pair, because they the most comfortable shoes I've used as they are basically slip-ons and the mesh makes them really enjoyable during hot summer, the toe box is also relatively big compared to most shoes.
    I would be like to know your experience with the jungle version, as I think the rubber around the front will limit some of the benefits of the monsoon version.

    • @Mustmaasikas
      @Mustmaasikas  2 роки тому +1

      This sounds exactly what happened to mine but it seems like this is a common flaw with them then. Yes! Super comfy! Hehe, I will give the jungle version a similar test to see what happens :).

    Has the 'Jungle' model held up any better than the 'Monsoon' model you originally bought?
    I've been wearing the 'Geyser Great' for about 9 months - it hasn't been my only shoe, by any means, but, despite loving them, they also haven't held up the way I'd expect a shoe like this to do.

    Great vid however not at all surprised… this is actually quite common. Vast majority of shoes only last for maybe 4 to 6 months of every day repetitive use and by then yes they’re still relatively useable but pretty beat up. I usually buy a brand new pair of shoes every 5 or 6 months however I walk an immense amount every single day. Have to remember at the end of the day that they’re shoes! They go on our nasty damp feet with an immense amount of weight pressing down on them. They get crushed and dragged on concrete pavement, grass, etc creating an immense amount of friction. That’s totally expected! It’s bound to break down over time. If there’s a pair of shoes that can last in great shape for years then sign me up lol

    I got the canyon and they are great for light hiking along beach but not serious rocky areas. The soles are really soft and great for beach areas they would seriously wear out where you went. But love mine and have lasted 3 years except the tip where the plastic covers tip of toes but that has only happened recently

    Good review but I’d say your expectations are too high.
    6 months for the use you got from them sounds very good. Hikes over multiple types of rugged terrain & swimming. It’s impossible to find a pair of normal shoes capable of handling that every day for 2 years. You would need hiking specific shoes and those aren’t the most stylish.

    • @dsjenzen
      @dsjenzen 11 місяців тому +1

      That is what I was thinking exactly! If she had use them straight away for some serious hiking when they are brand new and they broke on the first hike, then I would agree that it's not durable enough. But, she has already been using them for a few months travelling, swimming, exercising, long walks thru jungle terrain, etc and then they finally broke when doing hiking. No shoes will be able to last that long with that kind of extreme use almost every single day. 😂

    • @Mustmaasikas
      @Mustmaasikas  Рік тому

      Hey! Glad you enjoyed it! My feet are the size of 38 and the first shoes (Monsoon model) I ordered size 38 but I had to modify (loosen the shoe laces quite a bit) to have enough room. So the second pair (after reading a lot of reviews about sizing and jungle model) I ordered 39 and there was enough room this time. If I was you I would read up a little on what people have said about that particular model. The good thing is that the shoes themselves (the Water-friendly models at least) are not sturdy and the elastic laces give enough flexibility to make them tighter or looser. Hope this answers your question. 🙂

      I don't think 1-2 years is unreasonable ambition for a customer or manufacturer for $100 shoe. I bought tough looking Hi-Tec shoe for £40 dollars that fell apart on travels. Expensive North Face mid-boot replacement went on for 4-5 years. Get what you pay for. $100 adventure shoe should last full gap-year. Perhaps these are 'vacation' shoes. Thanks for genuine review.
