Dr TALA your videos are amazing, your explanation is mind-blowing.I too am working in NICU . A request from my side could you please make a video on AEDF AND REDF.
Hello Blessy! Thanks so much for your lovely comments. A video on umbilical flow is an excellent idea- one we didn't have on the list. (Obviously we're not obstetricians- but we would talk more about fetal consequences!) Thank you so much :)
These videos are amazing! I am a peds intern on my first month of NICU here in the US. It is a whole new world up here, and your videos have helped me so much already!
Love to hear more about insulin drips and sliding scales, as well as, other uses for insulin drips like high potassium. Thanks so much for y’all your videos. They are EXCELLENT!
That is a great idea for a video- also would love to look through recent literature- out of interest!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting :)
Hello! We are definitely getting around to this (obviously not ALL the enzymes- because we all refuse to learn them and forget them again!)- but general steps and when to be concerned. In our 10K celebration video coming up soon- we go over a few pearls everyone needs to know about IEMs. Thanks so much for commenting and subscribing!!
M a practicing pediatrician from India it's great to see how lucidly the concepts r explained, wish I had ur videos wen I was a pg resident at med school
Ha! It's funny- I think there are so many things I wish we had around during training. World has really changed- in a fantastic way for education, I think. So happy you find these helpful at all- thank you for subscribing and for taking the time to write to us :)
Hello. I am from Iran (Persia) and I practice Internal Medicine as my specialty. But generally, I love to learn everything about medicine no matter whether it is NICU, surgery, etc. By the way, thank you so much for your invaluable tutorials.
That's so impressive Dr. Mazhary! It's kind of hard to stay up to date with our own specialties- so it's great you're keeping an open mind! A lot of the information is translatable too, we hope. Thank you so much for your lovely compliment. Hope all is going well for you in Iran- I'm sure, an absolute stunning country.
Dr. Tala and team - thank you for these videos! I am using them to help study for RNC - NIC exam coming up soon. Your simplification of these larger concepts has been super helpful. - NICU RN from Portland, OR

Hi Lotenna! Thanks for your lovely comments! We are releasing the second 'questions asked video' next and then the last part of TPN will be out after that. Hope you'll find that helpful too!
Hello. I’m an NNP from Florida. Level 4 busy unit. Thank you for these videos! Requesting a video on the importance of moms own milk - science based related to immune system support. Even oral care with colostrum.

Hello! Thanks so much for your lovely comments!!! We actually filmed a video on PICC lines (but we still need to film one on actually putting one in). This channel is independent of the practice and the hospitals we work for- so we haven't put our resumes up for a reason!! But we have all worked in level 3/4 NICUS for a long time now!!! Thanks so much for watching!! (And ps- I can send you my CV if your'e interested!)
thank you so much Dr tala ,your videos are so helpful for me, I am a neonatologist from Egypt , I have a question about lipids in TPN...Is there any association between sepsis and lipids? shall we not add lipids to TPN incase of sepsis?
Hello! So happy you’re finding some usefulness in these videos! This is a question we’re always asking ourselves in the unit. We know lipids affect how wbcs and platelets function in the lab- and that in sepsis babies are more likely to get high TG from same level- but usually we continue same dosing through sepsis treatment. Under the logic that we want good nutrition and all the good fatty acids when we’re sick. What do you do?
Hi! Thanks for this very informative video on TPN . Im a pediatric trainee from Malaysia Would like to get your opinion if the amino acids in the TPN would affect or contribute to metabolic acidosis in a newborn prem baby? Just wondering if it could be one of a cause of persistent metabolic acidosis after ruling out sepsis, dehydration, anemia and pDA. Thanks
Hello Rachel- this is a great question. theoretically AA can cause metabolic acidosis- but this is less likely than other causes. Not sure if you have cysteine in your TPN- this is more likely to cause acidosis. Most likely (if other more pathologic causes have been ruled out)- it's immature kidneys dumping out too much bicarb- and leaving an acidosis. We need to discuss this more! Thanks for your great question :)
Yes! We really need to do this- also I'd love to find out what the rest of the world does with their withdrawal babies, so hopefully we could start a good dialogue! Thanks!
Good job direct videos and to the point I like it. more of practical guide to NICU resident by the way the metabolism of preterm is not that amazing The extremely high energy he got is directed towards gaining weight as well as basic metabolism imagine 60 kg adult who adds 10g/kg daily ..that is 600 gram/d or 18 Kg every month...horrible😊
