My dad was up to 1939 in a (then) elite regiment named "De Gele Rijders" (the yellow riders). It was a horse drawn fieldaritillrey regiment and their ceremonial uniforms looked the same as the ceremonial uniform of the Royal Horse Artillery. Why an elite regiment? Officers came from noble families and as of the rank of sargeant they had a minder taking care of polishing boots etc.
