While I feel sad that his friendship with Lucy is broken, after everything he went through, it would be a good time for him to go through a journey of self-discovery. So he can build his path by standing up and fight to make a better change in the Underbirth, without being manipulated by others for their gain. He knows that Locket's law is flawed and he can prove that life has so much more to offer than bloodshed, humiliation, and purity. Because if they continue to cultivate cruelty and blind worship of authority, then there won't be any significant progress, after all their hubris will prove to be their downfall.

Whether he is the leader of the cartel, or he is the antithesis of Amygdala's Odysseus, Lucy Lacemaker, we have yet to see. But, unlike Zeus, he is not unsympathetic. Not only is he crippled, a handicap that can be healed with Methusa's medicine, but he is mentally wounded. He lost his best friends to Locket's system: Shale refused to be involved in the cartel, and Lucy didn't believe his side had merit. In addition to his maturity, bringing height and intelligence, he is now motivated. Ludwig's design, I find, is quite unique amongst the Kiv. While many Kiv have offensive traits, like claws and teeth with relatively scant armor, Ludwig's neck is protected by spikes. He also seems to have a mouth far larger than it appears, so in dire circumstances, he might be able to open his mouth to the point that he can eat adult Kivs. Most notably, however, is his overall design. He seems uncannily human-like, with forward-facing eyes and dexterous hands. He almost seems to be a human/Kiv hybrid, fusing infamous intelligence and ruthlessness with strength and natural weapons. If he is as human as he appears, his motivation is all he will need. The traps, the games, the entire cartel, it's all a means to an end. In a world of animals, Ludwig is the most human, in both mind and body. Though he is scarred, he is undaunted. He will right the wrongs by whatever means necessary. The Kiv brings the claw and the strength. The human gives the hate and the determination. (He was my favorite in the beginning, and he remains my favorite by far. Kudos to you, Sir Fennah)
OK, after watching through 3 times or do, I have to say that my favourite thing about this is actually how you showed Ludwig's gait and the way his weight is unevenly dispersed between the steps. It's a small thing but it captured me every viewing. You can tell a lot about someone by how they hold their posture or how they move, and you've done a great job showing it with each character you've animated but particularly with Ludwig, there's just something particularly captivating in his movements here - calculated, with no action or step wasted, it's great to watch
That's one of my favorite things about these videos. It give me a look into how they move, hopefully sound, and generally hold themselves. I haven't read the book yet, but I'm hoping to grab me a copy sometime soon. I've never wanted an animated series ever so much in my life.

Ludwig came across as a pushover subby boy in the book and this music video makes him come across like a sophisticated mob boss. Can’t wait to see if book 2 gives him that 180°
Ludwig facial features(like the spines) that decorate his face and neck are disturbing but he's also undeniably elegant and handsome in a nightmarish sense and I love it. His eyes and the gold accents, plus his hair make him look majestic.
Really shows his powerful side, like he is in Satellite City as grand voice and protector of all that remains of the Kiv. Could be worth doing a short then vs now video like Lucy got to show off the progression of Ludwigs character model through the years

Fennah.... Sir. I have been enthralled and fascinated by your work for years. I love the way you bring the Kiv's to life, the way you make them move, how they all possess a life of their own even inside the digital landscape. But this video. THIS video enraptured me like none else have before. The way Ludwig was moving, the synchronicity between song and body, the glimpse of his torso without his coat... I wasn't looking at a digital render of Ludwig. **I was looking at Ludwig himself.** This video above all others, even if only edging out over a select few, was the most ALIVE I have seen you bring your characters to life. I'm hypnotized and beyond impressed. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. I'm only sorry I lack the adequate lexicon of vocabulary to properly express the magnitude of my awe.
Ludwig was my favorite character from Amygdala and seeing him in his adult form is positively astounding. I had to flip through my copy just to see the sheer difference. He looks regal and yet feral, civilized yet vicious. And SPOILERS After what happened to him at the end of book, it seems he has grown significantly in terms of wisdom and intelligence. Just the way he looks at the camera portrays a deadly precision unlike he had in the first book. It makes me genuinely curious to see what role he will play in the second going forward. The allusions to Methusa makes me think that, in a way, Ludwig will be her successor in rebellion; a new challenger to take up the banner in challenging the truths of Kiv society. While his methods may be crueler or backhanded, I have a feeling it will fall down a similar line of thinking. And that will be incredibly interesting to see indeed. (Of course, I could be totally wrong, but hey! That's the fun of speculation!)

This is something I did not expect at all, fennah using a song from Epic the musical, my current hyperfixation, and I am not disappointed at all HELL YEAH
Oh wow, I'm starting to remember why I had a crush on Ludwig back in Satellite City. This animation is incredible, what a way to welcome the second edition and audiobook (absolutely gonna be picking up both as soon as my wages come in). Ludwig's new design is magnificent, not just aesthetically but in the way he moves. There's a determination and ruthlessness here that shows how much he's grown (the limp actually adds to that). If this is an indication of what he's going to be like in Wanderlust then I am even more excited for that. Also thank you for introducing me to EPIC, I've never heard of it before but if this song is any indication it will likely become a new favourite.
I'm probably reading way too much into this, especially as the colours were already part of his original design, but having Ludwig wear a yellow and black coat as well as carry a yellow and black cane/umbrella is interesting. Considering when he met Lucy and helped her plan to get Wiley to hire her using those colours, I wonder if there's a significance to him wearing them in his matured state. Nostalgia for better days? A harsh reminder of what he's learned about her? Taking a leaf from her book on reading people? A subconscious indicator of her impact on him? Probably nothing like any of that but it's a fun thought.
Ludwig and Fontaine have always been my two favorites. I love seeing this updated animation of Ludwig and the song fits perfectly! The more I read, hear and see of this series the more I love it!

LOVE how you've improved the rigging on the character mouths. i remember always focusing on how the extended "decorative" parts of mouths would be completely static and visibly separate from the functional ones, but you've animated everything now!
I think it's amazing to see how far you've come with the animation over the years. The facial expressions and the lipsyncing is getting so good! The camera work and clipping as well have reached the quality of a professional music video
I've been following you UA-cam Channel for years like over 6+ years, and I love seeing how much you've progressed and how much detail you added even more into your wonderful creations. I remember the first Personal Jesus for Yusha and he was beautiful and then seeing him again but even BETTER with more muscle tone and meat on his character with a more complexity with his facial reactions and body was INCREDIBLE! This is… This is absolutely fantastic. I saw this pop up on my phone and was like “no… this belongs on the TV.” I had never heard any music from EPIC before, and only saw it occasionally pop up as a a recommended animatic on UA-cam and didn’t know what it was (kinda thought it was related to that animated movie from the 2010’s). After watching this I’m going to need to listen to the entire album.
Ok, I'm obsessed with this and have already rewatched it probably too many times. Ludwig's been my favorite since the Satellite City days and he's looking so good here! His adult form is awesome, the lip syncing is great, the clear character development from where he was in the book is amazing. 10/10 Having said that, I think his cane/umbrella might be on the wrong side. A common misconception is that people use the can on their bad side, but as an occasional cane user myself it's actually supposed to be on your good side. Having it on your bad side usually means you actually end up putting more pressure on the bad side while having it on your good side avoids that and gives you a wider base/three points of contact with the ground (good leg in the back, bad leg in the front, cane opposite the bad leg) rather than narrowing all the pressure down to the bad leg side (good leg in back, both cane and bad leg together in the same place). Anyway, love it and love his cane-brella!
I have never bought both a physical book & audio book so fast in my life once I saw this in my sub box! rofl. I got the first edition already but DANG is that new cover just irresistibly good, just like these animations, fantastic job as usual sir!

I’m eager for the next part! No hurry is necessary on the author’s part, though; writing is an art, artists shouldn’t get burned out, and art takes time to be good. Until then, I will watch these videos and be content. If you haven’t read the book, I recommend it.

Oh wow, I'm starting to remember why I had a crush on Ludwig back in Satellite City.
This animation is incredible, what a way to welcome the second edition and audiobook (absolutely gonna be picking up both as soon as my wages come in). Ludwig's new design is magnificent, not just aesthetically but in the way he moves. There's a determination and ruthlessness here that shows how much he's grown (the limp actually adds to that). If this is an indication of what he's going to be like in Wanderlust then I am even more excited for that.
Also thank you for introducing me to EPIC, I've never heard of it before but if this song is any indication it will likely become a new favourite.
I'm probably reading way too much into this, especially as the colours were already part of his original design, but having Ludwig wear a yellow and black coat as well as carry a yellow and black cane/umbrella is interesting. Considering when he met Lucy and helped her plan to get Wiley to hire her using those colours, I wonder if there's a significance to him wearing them in his matured state. Nostalgia for better days? A harsh reminder of what he's learned about her? Taking a leaf from her book on reading people? A subconscious indicator of her impact on him? Probably nothing like any of that but it's a fun thought.
Ludwig and Fontaine have always been my two favorites. I love seeing this updated animation of Ludwig and the song fits perfectly! The more I read, hear and see of this series the more I love it!

LOVE how you've improved the rigging on the character mouths. i remember always focusing on how the extended "decorative" parts of mouths would be completely static and visibly separate from the functional ones, but you've animated everything now!

I've been following you UA-cam Channel for years like over 6+ years, and I love seeing how much you've progressed and how much detail you added even more into your wonderful creations. I remember the first Personal Jesus for Yusha and he was beautiful and then seeing him again but even BETTER with more muscle tone and meat on his character with a more complexity with his facial reactions and body was INCREDIBLE! I had never heard any music from EPIC before, and only saw it occasionally pop up as a a recommended animatic on UA-cam and didn’t know what it was (kinda thought it was related to that animated movie from the 2010’s). After watching this I’m going to need to listen to the entire album.
Ok, I'm obsessed with this and have already rewatched it probably too many times. Ludwig's been my favorite since the Satellite City days and he's looking so good here! His adult form is awesome, the lip syncing is great, the clear character development from where he was in the book is amazing. 10/10
Having said that, I think his cane/umbrella might be on the wrong side. A common misconception is that people use the can on their bad side, but as an occasional cane user myself it's actually supposed to be on your good side. Having it on your bad side usually means you actually end up putting more pressure on the bad side while having it on your good side avoids that and gives you a wider base/three points of contact with the ground (good leg in the back, bad leg in the front, cane opposite the bad leg) rather than narrowing all the pressure down to the bad leg side (good leg in back, both cane and bad leg together in the same place).
Anyway, love it and love his cane-brella!
