As I always say this is how you conduct an interview. Ask a question and sit back and let the person answer and tell the story. Not constant babble, fake laughing and interrupting the guest. Chris is one of the best out there. This is a funny segment. Well done.
1:56 "He doesn't laugh, he recognizes humor" Wow, that was actually too relatable for me at one phase of my life. Co-workers always made fun of me for that
It was also one of the subplots on a Seinfeld episode, where a woman would always say "that's funny," rather than laughing. Oh, and part of a Curb Your Enthusiasm plot, where a woman would say out loud "LOL" rather than laughing.
Bryan Cranston's an amazing actor. Not taking away credit from Bryan, but Jerry and Julia were the ones who broke character and laughed uncontrollably the most frequently in the Seinfeld bloopers. I can't imagine how hard it is to get Jerry to laugh. The guy cracked up at anything on set. A lot of his scenes, you can tell from his face he's struggling not to laugh.
It's easier to laugh when you're with a familiar colleague. Bryan wasn't really famous back then, so it's a better story that he saved his spot on the show.
Also, on-set "when you're not supposed to etc" easy laugh, outside of that, Jerry has little time for poor jokes, so an audition would be very intimidating
i went back and watched the series start to finish. it's amazing how many extras from that show went on to be famous. it comes off as star cameos now, but they were nobodies back then.
Was about to make this identical comment. I know Jerry wants to give laughs to all his comedian friends, but sweet lord, he needs to work on his acting. It's painfully fake sometimes.
A person of integrity doesn't need to take credit for everything. A person with zero integrity needs to take credit for things that are obviously not about them. Remind you of anyone?
This guy is my 90s hero. Not only did he pay a memorable role on Seinfeld, but he also voiced several monsters from the original Power Rangers and was the inspiration the original blue ranger's last name
I thought of the same bit as soon as he said he has to ask for the nitrous. Didn’t realize he was so good at impressions! Those were spot on. Well, I can only assume that “guy on a ladder” was spot on as well.

Nice of Cranston to give credit to the guy for the joke :D

John Loobkoff lol that's so awkward doesn't he realize things are recorded and that the inconsistency in the story is obvious?
John Loobkoff he probably realized the truth was actually a much funnier story

I agree. Cranston is an incredible actor, one of the best, and a naturally funny guy. As the dad on Malcolm, he was perfectly cast.
@Tom Spencer did the same on imdb.
Now that I'm older, I have a new appreciation for how good that show really was.
Yeah, in that scene it absolutely looks as if he’s high in just a second haha. Nailed it.
yup that was a hell of a story masterfully told
