Yes steve skied on tele skis the whole clip. He's able to land backwards because he's talented and he practiced alot and he just gave it a shot. you should too!
I'm proud to say that I am not only from Norway, but I am from Telemark! Telemark is a place in Norway! ;) I love skiing! I love skiing Telemark, it's realy funny! :D
@LutzBrux1 All of the stuff shot was around whistler, and it just ended up faster for him to scramble up a steep pitch than put skins on. He was in really good shape then, as he still is. since then I haven't seen anyone on teles in whistler rip as hard as him..
woah, no need to make it personal, sir. i'm a telemark skier myself and am blown away by the talent portrayed on this video. guess someone couldn't take a joke, or has never seen the bumper stickers.
@@riderwithani That's cool. He was great with the beats. Funny he owns a restaurant, growing up his parents owned a successful restaurant in Kitchener. Rad Skiing by the way, that guy can rip.
I knew Andy and lived in Summit Co back in the late 80's early 90's and I stopped in to see him on a return visit in '97 while all the skiers from ToughGuyProductions were on his couch watching one of their videos. He was a camera man.
oh my god, when will people learn that czechoslovakia doesnt exist anymore. Czechoslovakia split up and two separate states were formed Czech Republic and Slovak Republic

The best telemark skiing session I've seen on UA-cam to date!
mad props for switch in the deep, freakin sickest thing ive ever seen on tele's
Crazy man, Awesome.

My life has never felt so worthless as after comparing myself to telemark skiers.
loljk lmao 😂
the tele bindings have cartridges that have springs so the ski dosn't just fall away from your heel. You have to make it when doing a turn.
Inspirational!
some of the better telemark footage I have ever seen. Great riding and some decent camera work too.
keep those heels locked down deeppower11 til your ready to step it up and when you are... it will take you 10 years to ski like this guy
12 years, wow!
Steve's skiing was ahead of it's time!
@paddaaa No, it's not in Norway, it's on Dekur (decker) ridge/glacier behind Blackcomb Mountain, in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. (same at 3:15)
wow I gotta work on that backwards tele
stop being so good you're making the rest of us look like novices >_>
was that telemark skies that were used the hole time? How does he land backwards(switch) if it is?
Beau video
,bravo!
Telemark is the best! it has got way more style=)
tele is way more fun imo. Going from alpine to tele is like going from snowboard to alpine, it's just a whole new level of snow riding
Good Old Steve
Brilliant vid. Just a question: why does he take the skis on his shoulders to walk up the hill? Put skins underneath or climbing wax....
sicky. the switch stuff looked a bit choppy but still so bad ass! viva la tele revolucion!
Tele is best. It's much more fun to drive in powder. But in the park, alpine is cooler, but who cares? It's powder that is the real snow!! :D

Круто))))))
having twin tips helps too hey
nice style :)
Dam Steve! u crazy!! haha!
God oLD sTEVE
In my world, straightlining means pointing ur tips vertical, like in not doing turns. Why wouldn't he put his heels down? :)
Great freeride. Great style. Check out Josh Madsen...
It's unbelievable how you guys can "tele" backwards .... Wow
Thanks! It's not 'you guys', though. Just skier, Steve Leeder ( Steve Crazy ). I did most of the filming. Hope you enjoyed the show.
The song was made by DJ Czech vancouver B.C. based breakbeat producer / DJ from czechoslovakia. Look him up on the internet. He's sick.
That's hilarious. I am here because I am a telemark skier in the Rockies, and DJ Czech is a friend from high school.
@@hughdunbar9617 AWESOME. haha He DJ'd at a club in whistler is where I met him and now he's back in Czech rep. and owns a poutine restaurant. fyi
I remember asking him if I could use one of his tracks for a ski vid edit...

Dude! I thought the music RAWKED!
wow, how stiff are your bindings?
I can totally do that :-)
Is Andy Held still working with you guys?
Mm, not sure. I only met and dealt with Nat Ross. And not for years now.
I knew Andy and lived in Summit Co back in the late 80's early 90's and I stopped in to see him on a return visit in '97 while all the skiers from ToughGuyProductions were on his couch watching one of their videos. He was a camera man.
Ah cool. They made some cool videos. Was neat being able to contribute something!
I guess the hardest part about backwards tele is telling you parents that your gay. Do you rollerblade in the offseason too?
free your heel and free your soul
Drop a knee not a bomb
oh my god, when will people learn that czechoslovakia doesnt exist anymore. Czechoslovakia split up and two separate states were formed Czech Republic and Slovak Republic
deeppowder11 can't ski.
though the worst song ever, great vid
well he is good but im not that impressed.. normal skiing is cooler. why do you have to fast forward at 1.50? didnt look cool enough at regular speed?
Backward tele - how do you get the balance and timing right ??!!! Amazing !!
