You really had to play fut champions the whole month to get them. That means you had to get gold 3 every week to get at least 3 red informs. I did that once and my best player was 85 Trapp
Haven’t finished the video yet so not sure if it’s been mentioned but I think the significant factor that has killed FIFA is ESports. With the increase in competitive gaming, the demand to use better players means more promo’s, killing the market and accelerating the power curve way more than before, when the game was about fun (Fifa 15 and before that). Now it’s just about people abusing broken mechanics
"Now it's just about people abusing broken mechanics" Fifa 15 - People literally only paced down the wing. Fifa 14, paced down the wing, crossed and most certainly a goal because every header was basically a goal. Even in fifa 11 there were broken free kicks from your own half, guaranteeing you to score. It really never was any different in earlier fifas. There always was a broken mechanic which made the game unfair for the other player not using the mechanic. It does not matter which Fifa it is.
@@enmamu1430 the broken mechanics abused back then just seemed fairer is I think the best way to put it. Back then you’d buy a pacey team and a tall striker and abuse pace and crosses which were easy to learn. Now the broken mechanics are so many stupid skill moves, shot cancels, trivelas it just seems unnatural and is horrible to play against
No one cares about FIFA esports man. They’re looked down upon and clowned for being a pro in a p2w game. If they truly want a epro presence they need to figure out Pro Clubs
I used to watch Neps videos every day and played FUT all day for years. I stopped in 2019 and I have to say it was a blessing. Without FUT I could go back to enjoying my life outside of FIFA way more. Nowadays I play career mode again and it feels way healthier for me. Maybe Nep should consider going a similar route
@@slslskspslba2407y calm down with the age thing, I've played fifa from the first release in 93, up till now, my account on xbox is a fut founder too, fifa 13 is the best fifa ever released, for me personally, its been going steadily down hill since then. They care more about doing promos every week or 2 than they do the actual gameplay, theirs Far too many promos now, you get a top card and a week later you want the next one, the the next one, people prefer to menu grind more than playing the actual game which shows where the game has gone, go on streamers at content drop time and people lose their shit if theirs no new content to grind, the enjoyment of just playing fifa disappeared years ago due to the constant promos dropping. Guarantee most people only play the game so they can get rewards for the next promo instead of playing because they actually like the game and it's sad that it's got to this.
People / casuals don’t play draft because more often than not the get beat first game. If you got to play all 4 games regardless and got rewards based on how many of the 4 you won, I think a lot more people would play it
Reforming the game to cater to people with little to no talent is a bad direction to go in. The worst thing they could do is make it unimportant to not be superior to others🤷♂️
I want to like craft but I don’t play it because every game I play ends up being like 10 goals+ a game. I know you can say well you obviously suck at defending but I get rank 5 champs most weeks so I’m a reasonable player , it just feels like an arcade goal fest when I play draft 😂
The biggest issue was adding so many special cards removing the value of getting high rated players and special cards. It’s too easy to get a good team now
They special cards meant something as well it was a representation of someone’s season. Not a 96 rated striker Ramos when he’s not even a good defender anymore
I feel like chemistry styles have also ruined it (this FIFA atleast) because it's so easy to get good stats on a player so they have to nerf it or everyone would be scoring easily. If there were no chem styles even if you had a fast card you'd need skill to score goals and cards that can actually finish like toty hm kane would be used more instead of having 2 rapid strikers that can dribble.
Logged into Fifa 6pm, played my last friendly cup game to get that RTTF objective player, opened a preview pack and then turned the xbox off. Loaded up YT and this was the first video i saw which is highly fitting.
I remember back in like fifa 13 or 14 I don’t remember exactly. I had like 20k team and like 15k coins for squad fitness card. Used to bang out divisions and get excited for the coin rewards when winning a division. Now I have a 3 million coin team and 2.5m and am a trader and I can say honestly I used to have much more fun 😂
started the same as you back then, I think rewards, sbcs and the fact that untradeables exist has made insane changes to the market dynamics, it makes the grind a bit soulless. Might have grown out of it, but cards like mbappe being that good from day 1 is so stupid.
@@ZombiesNIghtmare99 I agree mate, I’ve had Mbappe myself since November now every striker since then in the game literally becomes irrelevant. I trade and have a good team and a good amount of coins but if anything it makes the rest of the game irrelevant, almost punished for having a successful account 😂
The most fun for me was having 2 teams so i can switch between them to recover fitness for free. Also every card used to be "usable" so i would get super excited to get any high rated player but now high rated players end up being bad because their stats arent meta
I honestly think the depth people have taken custom tactics and player instructions to is one of the fundamental reasons the games no longer as fun as it once was
I think it's ultimate team tbf. This gameplay is so slow and the meta is essentially players with dodgy animation style and body type for dribbling scoring. Passing is slow and rubbish, pace has been nerfed alot so players are forced to buy packs for the good players like ginola.
I used to grind this game and rage when I would lose. Now that I've taken a step back, done content when it's good, and don't play online unless it's friendlies I absolutely love the game. I have a career mode that's almost in 2034 and it's the most fun I've had playing any game in a while. My advice for everyone is to take a step back in the game. Don't expect insane content every day and be happy with the promo players you pack. This game used to ONLY favor the players that spent an insane amount of money and people tend to forget that before promos you would have to open hundreds of dollars to get an inform and legends were off the table unless you played an insane amount or spent an insane amount. With tik tok formation meta's, skill abusing, and the obvious scripting in packs and games, FIFA has turned this game into a literal addiction where people are chasing the littlest bit of dopamine after hours of rage. I spent about 100 dollars on TOTY and thought to myself "If I packed Mbappe toty, I'd be over the moon excited for about a day or so then I'd be right back to chasing another high of packing another player." Just remember that after a year your entire progress resets and very little people can make a career out of this game. So stop taking it so serious, EA is never going to ever support the free to play player and don't even care about rewarding the people who spend thousands on the game because they can make money regardless. EA is so corrupt and the only way to not be affected by their corruption is not to care.
People really call this game a chore, you're not getting paid for it and you're barely getting rewarded. You can spend 10 hours of a day doing a friendlies objective and end up with a bunch of worthless virtual cards with one being a 86 skriniar that you think "at least it's a walkout" Take fifa out of the equation, replace it with work (because that's what people say it is now) and you'd tell someone you spent 10 hours of your day on saturday doing volunteer unpaid work for a company that doesn't know or care that you exist and they'd ask why you even bother doing that. That's what FIFA is these days.
@@wyattdoby2256 Y’all clearly have some other mental problems not related to fifa, and I hope you get that figured out. For most competent people however, fifa is a video game that is fun to play. I don’t know about you guys but all you need is talent and competitive online games are fun🤷♂️
I think the worst part about FIFA is the unusable icons. I should be happy for any icon I pack. I cant believe packing Shearer/VanBasten/Baresi/Scholes/Nesta/Rivaldo and many others is considered an L. Those were special players. They should be massive Ws
yea lets start giving prime icons their true stats atleast...I would start with giving prime Icons max Composure...or does anyone think prime Gerrard was more "scared" of surrounding players than gold Mbappe? And prime Rooney with 55 defending. Also Icons being worse chemwise than heroes is just...EA.
I was so disappointed with no league/nation friendlies for swaps. I love to do sbcs or keep fodder promo cards for these modes, but they no longer really exist. I have top 9 nation / efigs squads that are useless now. Big bummer for me
You haven't also mentioned the fact that we are in February and all these people have these monster teams, when I see some of these teams it looks more like August and I can't imagine what teams will look like by then..🙄
I started playing in January and at first I would panic when I see these monster teams and would lose easily. I've now nailed down the way I like to play and have built a decent team around that. I'm now washing these meta teams with my 85 base Zola upfront and love it when they rage quit after 8 mins and 2 goals down. I say just play to your strengths and gradually build a team around that. I'm currently in division 5 and don't have any of these meta players all these guys have.
Watched nep for years, and speaks nothing but facts. Someone who actually understands other players and not just posting endless mindless videos for clout Will disagree on one thing, spinna is a great card use him in elite and he's great
Poor management, greed and lack of ambition from the corporate higher ups is the main issue imo, i'm sure there's developers on the team at EA that are passionate about the franchise and what they do but this franchise blew up to such an extent that it's sole purpose is to make as much money for as little effort/investment as possible and they have cultivated a culture where they're able to do that. This franchise could be truly special if the powers that be were passionate about actually creating the best product available but that clearly isn't their ambition. They have a blueprint that yields results that they are happy with, the last time there were substantial changes to the game was over 5 years ago now. Since then there's really been little to no innovation and the mode just feels stale, repetitive and regimented.
what improvements do you want to be added to squad battles, i hope they dont cut out this mode, i just cannot force myself to play online and rage, i would like to see the game to continue to improve, but at what cost
It would be cool to have league specific squad battles to fit the name. Every week you could play against different squads from the same league and get rewards from that league like a player or packs
Agree with everything you have said mate and love these videos, they take me back! Was a loyal fan from 05 until FIFA 20 and have barley touched it since. Feels like a different game with no excitement these days. Love your work 👍
My first ever FIFA game was FIFA 09 on the PSP, after that I got myself a PS3 and bought FIFA 13. I've been playing and grinding Ultimate team since FIFA 14, since I love football and FIFA gave me the best experience to emulate the feeling of playing football. Every year when a new FIFA comes out I pre order the game. I did the same this year, however this is the first time in my life I was drained and bored by the beginning of November, literally a month a half into the game... I have not touched FIFA since then, more than 4 months ago now and tbh I don't miss it anymore. For me it's become too competitive and well like I mentioned before it physically and mentally made me tired
My biggest thing with Fifa in recent years is that there is no genuine tournament mode. We have those BS "Cups" that come very week or so but its not an actual tournament mode. We had a real tournament mode for years in 14/15/16 but then they replaced it with the DKT which was okay but still not the same because it wasn't unlimited entries. I used to play the DKT during the week and throw the final if there was no reward, I wanted to go back into it but you couldn't keep playing it if you won. It's so stupid because I would be in that all week long if it was still around. I don't understand why they got rid of it, they could put player rewards in it like they use to or packs. It's just seems hard to play Fifa in 2023 casually because any of the modes worth playing are skill based and its just very tiring.
I’m sorry, but this is exactly why Nephentez is my favorite UA-camr. I’m mostly subscribed to Fifa UA-camrs and I see some that hype up fifa way too much, and I get it. It’s so that they’re channels can do better. I just love the fact nephentez keeps it real. I don’t really have anything against what he said, I completely agree with how he feels about the state of the game and the very little EA has been doing with the game for the past few years. I too was wondering if I was falling out of love with Fifa but I still want to log in and see exiting new content. I just think that I get upset/frustrated seeing the wack content EA put out. I hope next year can be different and better.
I agree 100% with your points. However as a game developer I can also say that having a game planned for every year with all the complexity of productionalization it leaves little room to take any risks. It has become a never ending battle against fast approaching deadlines
Overall I think swaps have become more accessible to players from all skill levels. I started FUT in Fifa 20 and remember how people were relegating themselves to grind swaps objectives in div rivals. The requirements for tokens then seemed more difficult. What I have noticed is that it's almost impossible now to maintain cards in your club without spending fifa points.
I used to play fifa every day of my life, I’ve gone away from a game I’ve loved and have so many memories with. The game has changed for the worse, my most fond memory was packing an 85 rated gold Torres many games ago and absolutely loving him. I don’t feel that any more with any of the players. They’re trying to fill the game full of promos and challenges and all sorts that just kinda overwhelmed me and I just couldn’t be bothered anymore. I do miss it but I just don’t get the same feeling anymore when I play.
My biggest problem is the player base. I’m in elite and had several rank 1 finishes, but playing boring, sweaty, negative football game after game is so draining and unenjoyable. The game I used to love now feels like a chore to play and I’ve never been so close to dropping it. I don’t see how this could even be fixed either :/
I don't think it's as simple as saying they haven't added anything new for years that's significantly improved the player experience. It's a number of factors that have combined to ruin what we all loved between '14 and '18. I think the biggest influence on the decline in the experience has been that it became too easy to achieve the 95% team. You've proved you can get a great team in just a few hours now. Back in '17, unless you were spending money on it, it took all year. It kept you engaged. Now, you play with a card you've earnt for 5 games and it doesn't matter. In '18, making the wrong sbc choice in November was still hurting your team in February. Every decision, every game was important if you wanted to build your "ultimate team". Now it's so easy to get, there is no sense of achievement, no jeopardy if you did the Daniel Sturridge SBC and he turned out to be a stinker.
My biggest problem with fifa is the players people use. Ultimate team used to be fun where everyone had completely different teams and tried different things. Every single game in champs, which you have to play if you want to get any kind of rewards in this game week by week, you come up against mbappe, jairzinho, maldini. Pretty sure at least 75% of the people I played this weekend had them. Its just so boring, I get why people are using them but I just don't see it anymore in terms of why they release half the players they do because no one will use them over any of the players they already have. I've gone to make a tottenham past and present team with the players I can afford (which isn't a lot if you don't spend money on fifa points). But I am having fun with it, just wish fifa was more fun rather than the competitive game it is now. I know its gonna be competitive but its just too serious and stressful and barely any fun anymore
@@nathan113 I think it’s more previously it was sweaty, but it was never everyone using the most expensive cards against me every game I played. I remember in like fifa 18 or 17 getting to division 1 with a full Spanish team, no icons or anything. It was just a different time where each game I saw a completely different team, now it’s pretty much the same 20-30 players being used by everyone
Couldn’t agree more it’s the lack of care to the game and the ability to get a ridiculous team in a few days when it would take you the full game cycle to get a team like that in previous fifas
Esports killed the game faster than anything I said it from the start, there should've been a separate mode for competitive gamers rather than having a game mixed with casuals and Esports people it messed everything up. Also on a side note remember using teams that had base gold Emenike, Welliton, Doumbia, Ibarbo or even silver teams and absolutely destroying people in divisions and being happy with the game
I absolutely hate Rivals, I do it for the rewards but it's just not fun at all and I'm seriously thinking of stopping playing that game mode with how awful it is, I do well in Champs, I consistently get around 50 odd points in champs, 60+ on a great weekend but on Rivals it's just insane to get wins. It's not fun and they need to implement the same form based matchmaking for Rivals IMO
I think if they have an official fifa 23 discord or something where the fans of the franchise can recommend game changes and work with ea to solve problems etc. I think that level of fan interaction would be amazing and if they have a problem they would have thousands of opinions to solve the problem. Have a team manage it and collect feedback on a regular basis.
Also friendlies for objectives, let us build ANY team and play with the best players. Then it's a skill gap not a team gap. Let us use any team to get objectives done and we can use any card in the game frequently
Ea losing touch with some of the hardcore older players, but they don't care, revenue and sales are up. Been on a fifa break for a few weeks, not sure what will bring me back. Too many promos for me is such a factor which are pointless, gives you another 2% advantage but everyone has the same team anyways.
Exactly man. Plus as well all of these stupid packs in the store. The ones that are 300k coins but only 1100 fifa points. It’s driving people to go and buy fifa points. Putting tokens in store packs and making them cheap with fifa points, still making everyone buy them. So frustrating to see.
It became shit when after 3 months of release people were already running around with teams that were worth 10 million coins when mine was worth 200k. It's just so fun when your players can't make a decent pass while the opponents central back scores bycicle kick goals.
Think I miss silver and bronze teams most. I know you need a silver team for the odd objective but really think having competitive game modes for those level cards is an alternative to just playing rivals and champs.
i really wish trade offers came back to fifa with all these untradable cards. how they cant make price ranges for a trade offers amazes me if theyre so scared of people just sending coins or too many players a fut player already has a price range and so would cards you would send in an offer.
100% agree. As a community we always pined for more and more content. But that isn't what we need. We need less content but quality content. For starters we need to calm down on the promos. 2 weeks a month maximum of well thought out promos would be way better than this constant mid level stuff cookie cutter rubbish. The over influx of all different special cards actually means that everything feels a whole let less special.
I had been a long time player in Fifa. I played competitively from Fifa 12 to my last year in Fifa 21. I believe FIFA at this point is best in class at delivering content, different game modes, and player accessibility. The main reason I left the game (spring 2021) was two fold: 1. The gameplay was stale and everyone uses few different formations, tactics, and mechanics at the top level. 2. Players and gameplay stopped feeling unique. Everyone at the top level had to have the same cards and players were mostly picked due to their stats rather than playing style. From my point of view each game was Robotic. Use the same players, use the same mechanics, rinse and repeat. I moved to PES/Efootball in spring of 2021 and while I don’t believe that either FIFA or PES/Efootball is better than one another, I certainly believe the fundamentals in player selection and squad building in PES/Efootball is better and leads to more satisfying and creative gameplay on the pitch. This comes down to 3 things for me: 1. Form updates. 2. Player playing styles. 3. Player skills Before diving into these three things I will give the basics of the game so everyone has some context. In Efootball, chemistry is built differently from FIFA. You train players to be good at certain playing styles (possession, quick counter, long ball, etc.) and then each player’s familiarity with the playing style builds chemistry. This means that you can have any player in a squad and as long as they can play the position you are assigning them to and they are familiar with the playing style you can use that player. Similarly to FIFA, improving chemistry also improves players stats and positioning, you can use any formation you’d like, you can do individual instructions on players, and you can have alternate formation/tactics to switch to in game. In Efootball, players have form updates weekly ranked grade style from A to E. This means that if a player has a good or bad game in a week, it is reflected in a weekly update in the game. Players who are in bad (D-E) form for the week get stat reductions from the base stats and players who are in good (A-B) form have stat increases from the base stats of the cards. This means weekly I am adding different players to the squad to have an in form team. (legends are always on good form) In Efootball, players have different playing styles by position. For example, center forwards have 5 different playing styles that inform how they move on the pitch: Goal Poacher (Van Basten), Dummy Runner (T. Muller), Fox in the Box (Romario), Deep Lying Forward (Benzema), Target Man (Dezeko). The same exists for midfielders and defenders as well. Benzema will look to play deep in game to link up play with midfielders and wingers while Dzeko is always standing amongst the defending line looking to knock on headers to midfielders or head a cross into the net in the box. So in addition to player form I am considering how a player’s playing style will affect the team. Finally is player skills. These are similar to traits in fifa but they are a lot more in depth. There are skills for passing, defending, skill moves, and shooting. Sticking to forwards, players with first time shot will shoot the ball as it comes to them. Players without this trait might take a touch before shooting the ball. Forwards can have long shot skills, trivela skills, etc. Additionally, player skills are not locked to certain positions on the field and they obviously reflect a player’s skill in real life. A culmination of these three things keeps my team selection and formation rotating almost weekly. I will show the last two weeks’ formations to show the selection difference. 3223 possession based style Name (playstyle, position, form from A to E) Casillas (Offensive GK B) Timber (Buildup CB A) Gvardiol (Buildup CB B ) Beckenbauer (Build up CB B) Rodri (Anchor DMF A) F De Jong (Orchestrator DMF B) F Wirtz (Deep Lying Forward, AMF, A) R. Gullit (classic NO. 10 AMF B) Salah (Prolific Winger, RW, A) Kvaratshkelia (Prolific W, LW, A) Rummenige (Goal Poacher, CF, B) This squad was made because I had a lot of prolific wingers and orchestrators in form for the week. Looking at the players I had available this week (in good form) I wanted to create a squad that was solid in defense, could create a numbers overload in midfield to keep possession, and fast players up front that were capable of winning one on one battles and have wingers to provide width outlets to the formation. I have buildup center backs that are good dribblers, passers, and are fast. I have an anchor to protect the back line as well as contribute to the midfield overload. I have an orchestrator who links play between defense and attack with offensive and defensive playing skills. I have attacking midfielders who can link up play with passing and finishing skills. I have wingers to provide width and are great dribblers and finishers. And I have a fast “do it all” kind of striker in rummenigge. The key is to keep possession, find one on one opportunities for attackers to beat defenders and look for a final pass or find a shot on net. 4123 possession based style Name (playstyle, position, form from A to E) Cassillas (Offensive GK B) Cafu (offensive RB B) Nesta (Destroyer CB B) Puyol (Destroyer CB B) Alba (Offensive LB B) Rijkaard (Orchestrator DMF B) De bruyne (Creative Playmaker, AMF B) Pedri (Creative Playmaker AMF A) Gnabry (Creative Playmaker, RW, B) S. Berhuis (Prolific Winger, LW, B) Van Basten (Goal Poacher, CF, B) This squad was made because I had a lot of technically gifted passers available through form. I wanted to create a team that had rock solid centerbacks who were strong in defensive capabilities and in the air. I wanted an RB and LB who had good technical and passing abilities along with great stamina to transition between defense and attack. I looked for an orchestrator with mostly defensive and passing skills to sit in front of the back line to provide protection along with passing capabilities to link defense to attack. Finally I wanted midfielders and wingers who were great passers to send crosses to the striker or the back post winger/midfielder or find a cutback pass to a striker or midfielder. Even though Efootball lacks in game modes and content cards compared to fifa, each week I find myself using a new team with different players, playing styles, skills and formations that forces me to try something new and find things that work that I might never have tried otherwise. It is refreshing to have to build and tinker with something new each week to find a balance throughout the week to dominate opponents. To be clear there is a generic meta formation and playing style in Efootball but I see even top players doing formation tinkering and player tinkering weekly due to these squad building and player features. I think adding a similar version of form, player playing style, and more player skills would help make FIFA diversify player card and formation usage to bring a refreshing weekly twist to the game.
The pivot to make a fundamentally unstable game more competitive definitely has decreased the overall fun you can have and forces you to play in a certain way if you want to keep up.
This was a really good video Nep. At its simplest, the decline in this game and our enjoyment in it comes down to 3 broad factors: 1. Staleness and EA’s lack of desire to change a winning formula. 2. EA’s desire to continue nerfing the generosity it gives towards its own community because people will still play and use the game the same way and EA will continue to make billions off in game purchases. This has also dictated the severe rise in untradeable packs and rewards. 3. What you call the quantity over quality issue which has emerged in particular in 22 and 23. Unfortunately, I’m not convinced that the move from FIFA to EAFC in 24 will fix the 1st or 2nd ones.
The lack of fun game modes to use different cards. We miss actually random matchmaking in modes. We only have SBMM and the Champs matchmaking. Furthermore it's very stale. Miss the actual tournament modes like we had in FIFA 16 and earlier.
I’m someone who just prefers playing squad battles rather than playing online and thats due to not finding a way to control my anger, it’s just got the point now where rewards are not good enough anymore(based on luck i know that) and it’s too repetitive which can become a complete burnout. Love your content though each day! 👊✌️
UT was special for me because of the trading aspect. Everything had some value in a pack. Even consumables. Now EA has stripped out everything that requires the VALUE of cards. Remember when fitness required you to rock 2 squads or have a hoarding of fitness consumables. Or when we had league SBCs, Friendly Cups or Weekend League requirements that brought value to lesser Bronze, Silver and Gold Cards. Like Nep has said EA focus on quantity over quality have ruined FIFA….Dead by Feb
I was with you up until the end where you basically gave them a pass. We been saying for four game cycles now the next one will be better, why will it? Fifa aren't stopping EA from doing league sbcs, improving gameplay, fixing glitches, better rewards to keep up with the game curve etc. Hope is a great thing but i can't see the next being better when the last 4 imo have been so poor.
25:44 I actually see Spinazzola quite a bit in div 1,mostly its Capdevila and TOTY Ashley Cole(suprisingly) but Spinazzola has been in a lot of teams i faced, granted it was mostly for chemistry and ingame a lot of them played him RB and brought on subs for LB,for me he's never gonna be the choice to play there because of his right foot but i can see the appeal in using him
Also to add on,i think that the worst thing EA ever did was ruin the fun of building different teams,i cant remember when i had so many games on single cards,i had so much fun building random really fun to use, sometimes off meta teams which actually performed well, today if you use for example that new bundesliga POTM Brandt, ill actually respect it,but ill exploit it heavily because the card is just awful
dont apologize for making a long vid perosnally and i knwo some people agree is that its more enjoyable actually hearing your opinions of the game instead of showing content then ending it when theres f all out
If Season Progress objective had an icon player pick for level 30, it’d have been so cool even if the weight of the pick would be bad, it’d still be worth it
For me it went wrong almost In fifa 19. My worst year was last year when I was only motivated I the last three months of the game. Won't be buying EA sports FC next year cause I'm not buying a game called that. However there needs to be a massive rebuild of sorts for the next game.
It’s all about packs, why? Because the more free packs you give to people the more they become addicted! The more addicted they become the more packs they buy!! It’s all about money!!
Imagine telling someone you spent your Saturday working 10 hours unpaid for a job that doesn’t know you exist and all you got was a 15 virtual nft’s that millions of other people own worth nothing. That’s FIFA. Quit the addiction.
the problem with ultimate team is that it is impossible to get an ultimate team from gameplay. they have monetized r9, dinho, pele, eusebio, vieira, maldini, gullit, cruyff, and blanc. those cards are impossible to have together. also the way ea patches the game and just nerf your players. you can't tell me 85 pace in October is like 85 pace in may. they are not the same. in FIFA 18 when icons were introduced if a prime icon sbc was released it was there from the point of release to the end of the game. you could work to get the icons you wanted not the ones Ea hand picked for you. they give you less and less for more work. I'm telling you any other company could beat FIFA so easily
This game reminds me a lot of the game I play now, Master Duel, In a lot of ways it’s almost eerie. I actually miss playing Fifa. I think the last one I played was FIFA 17 and I feel like that title was probably the twilight of this incarnation of this Football game. Just as Master Duel needs best-of-3 to change up the dynamic of their game, I feel like fifa will need to change up their game modes and they’ll have to inject life into their game constantly trying to make the game better.
One of the main issues is the power curve increasing quicker year on year which makes promo to promo marginal or sideways upgrades and listening to idiots who complained the game was pay to win and wanted it to be easier to get cards until the point we have now where everyone had end game teams by TOTY, the game has never been pay to win and hid behind this ideology even though multiple content creators have gone unbeaten with trash teams
If they would've made a game, just a copy of FIFA in visual and gameplay sense but removed half of this shit that most of players don't even care about, removed non performance-based special cards, put some effort in what's left then I would love it. I would play it. I would buy the game every year in preorder. The amount of what is in FIFA (not only in fut) is crushing my love for this franchise.
Before we had rivals and had divisions, everyone would complain about the rewards being bad and for ea to update it. People used to play divisions cause it wasn’t sweaty then ea went and changed divisions completely and made it competitive but upped the rewards. That’s not what we asked for
Superb video Nep, up there with the best you’ve produced. Like the mention about anxiety for those playing online that stick to squad battles. That was me for 3 years and even now I do play online but get anxiety before playing weekend league
This isn’t a criticism of your points but simply stating ‘they’ve added SBC’s, Draft, SB and done nothing with it,’ is a pretty blank statement. The way it’s phrased makes it seem like complaining for complainings sake and I know that’s not what you intended. Just wanted some sort of suggestion on what they could possible do to ‘do something with it.’ SBC’s are perfectly fine imo and don’t need any change, in fact they improved it this year by removing chemistry on squads that required a high rating. The only thing I would say about drafts and SB is rewards need serious improvement.
I think EA should think of an evolving enviroment for the game. I mean, squad battles rewards are the same from start to finish, it should evolve as time passes, the same for fixed SBC like the gold/silver/bronze upgrades, I mean, it's march already they could've gone with 82+ gold upgrade or even an 81+.
I agree with what Nep says, there hasn’t been any innovation or something really to spark my excitement of the game. I honestly think though that the reason fifa kind of sucks is that the game is too easy. I’ve been playing fifa my entire life and I’m not insane at the game I’m in DIV 4 for rivals and I get about a little over .500 in fut champs but this year (and it’s only February) my team has 5 icons and just other quality players (pogba SBC for example) and if this was fifa 18 I could only DREAM of ever getting a team like this and I’ve done it without really playing the absolute shit out of it. They’ve gotta make it harder to get the top top players but make the cards in the middle enjoyable to use with creative rewards in Swaps or objectives so that we can actually use those kinds of cards
There is no one better in the business than EA at repackaging and marketing things that have already been in the game and selling them as new and revolutionary. It's honestly impressive.
I can't even do my obj now. I got promoted to Div 2 and I get smashed the majority of games. Now I just go into SB and set the controller down whilst I do something else.
everything in fifa has turned to them making as much money as possible. The season rewards could give u an exclusive icon for level 30 or something but they wont cause u wont open a pack in the store then to attempt to pack one or get fodder. they could do so much for rewards and for people to grind the game more, the best way u said it was the fortnite skins, but EA have such a good system to make money right now with packs that they wont do anything that rewards us by playing. Most of the things that they have taken out and put in is basically put there to incetivise us to open a pack over grind the game. It wont change until they value their players of the game but they dont and wont because they currently have a money printer, it would be dumb of them to change anything and jepordize their income.
The problem with fifa is the player movements they move so awkward plus nearly every goal goes to the top or bottom corner and it gets boring fast fifa 14-15-16 was the best fifa ever made
The fucking scripting making every game a sweat fest ruins the casual and fun experience imo.. its all grind...stress.. grind.. stress. Maybe 1 good pull a month. Games a joke
This game is suposed to be fun to play and enjoyable yet myself and most others agree the game is not fun to play to the point that its miserable to play. Champs friendlies to get tokens. Its not fun its a chore i just play to get coins and get out
Untradable rewards.. No point of packing some cards because 99% is fodder of it doesn't fit the team. No reward feeling and kills the market. NO reward means no reason to play..
I think that there used to be a bit of a balance between fifa being a football simulator and an arcade game and now its just trying too hard and lost both, its neither good as a simulator nor as an arcade game
I’m glad 2k are dropping a game as well later this year! Should bring competition to EA, and hopefully they step it up. Or else I’m playing FIFA2k next season
Not seen any confirmation of this anywhere? I'd gladly try a new football game. All anybody does is use fastest players on game and run down wing and pass across for a goal. Also the over powered custom tactics are absolutely pathetic. Its so boring playing versus same players and same tactics constantly.
That analogy with the red totws is so true. I remember from fifa 17 seeing red players was a flex and people who had them were top players.
You really had to play fut champions the whole month to get them. That means you had to get gold 3 every week to get at least 3 red informs. I did that once and my best player was 85 Trapp
@@michaelay4900 reds ain’t scary now, you can get them players from getting 0-20
Absolutely true
W take 👏
Ur spot on
"Now it's just about people abusing broken mechanics"
Fifa 15 - People literally only paced down the wing.
Nothing will beat the days of Fifa 14 when gold cards could still be end game and every person had a different squad with different play styles
I did the same with NBA 2k. It's more of a chore than just having fun with the game
Saying exactly what I’ve been thinking about swaps. Ruined the way you get them and the rewards. Just makes everything a chore, rather than fun
yep. Completing marquee matchups used to be fun hoping for profit. Now I feel like I have to complete it for the sake of doing it
I feel you nep I've been a hardcore FIFA lover since about FIFA 13 and the past couple of years I've really fell out of touch with the game
Same! Could be age also.
If you got to play all 4 games regardless and got rewards based on how many of the 4 you won, I think a lot more people would play it
Have you not seen the standard of player in the draft? It’s probably the easiest game mode for me, feels nothing but casuals
Even when u win all 4 games u get shit rewards
Exactly, thank you
Logged into Fifa 6pm, played my last friendly cup game to get that RTTF objective player, opened a preview pack and then turned the xbox off.
Maybe you have just grown out of the game.
@@slslskspslba2407 potentially yes :(
started the same as you back then, I think rewards, sbcs and the fact that untradeables exist has made insane changes to the market dynamics, it makes the grind a bit soulless.
I honestly think the depth people have taken custom tactics and player instructions to is one of the fundamental reasons the games no longer as fun as it once was
The game is just too sweaty and people don't wanna use fun players they love in real life, just the most OP ones
There are a lot more reasons but yeah accesibility is one of them
I think it's ultimate team tbf. This gameplay is so slow and the meta is essentially players with dodgy animation style and body type for dribbling scoring. Passing is slow and rubbish, pace has been nerfed alot so players are forced to buy packs for the good players like ginola.
I hated the custom tactics videos
They were annoying
They proved that fifa was no longer about having fun and it was more about competition
They should be massive Ws
especially when you like the players irl, i wanna use someone like scholes and van persie without them being iut of the power curve
@@musasaid5736always gonna be hard to make a game where a player like Scholes is great to use
and for most players the only thing the need to improve is pace. dribbling or positioning. Van Basten should be a top tier attacker.
I just got zola 85 and its w
yea lets start giving prime icons their true stats atleast...I would start with giving prime Icons max Composure...or does anyone think prime Gerrard was more "scared" of surrounding players than gold Mbappe?
@@10thwonderif you aren’t in D2 or above no one cares about your opinion. You aren’t beating people who are good at the game.
@@bigboybigdog8643 That's my point dickhead. Most of these guys with meta teams are not really good at the game regardless of the division I'm in.
@@bigboybigdog8643 you’re right
@user-ht8ji4jw1h He's actually wrong and I'm pretty sure neither of you are in D2 either. Lol
Watched nep for years, and speaks nothing but facts. Someone who actually understands other players and not just posting endless mindless videos for clout
Will disagree on one thing, spinna is a great card use him in elite and he's great
Poor management, greed and lack of ambition from the corporate higher ups is the main issue imo, i'm sure there's developers on the team at EA that are passionate about the franchise and what they do but this franchise blew up to such an extent that it's sole purpose is to make as much money for as little effort/investment as possible and they have cultivated a culture where they're able to do that.
They need to reduce match length and stop having the Legendary AI spam skill moves and hog the ball. Never used to be that way.
Based on the current power curve EA has created, the rewards are simply not worth the effort.
Love your work 👍
Same here finished after fifa 20 games was declining for 3 years in a row after the new engine, wasn’t fun anymore
Not being able to grind for the top icons until later on in the game is a big L
Good video Nep. Wish I could play with icons I grew up watching without spending $10000000000000000
Ultimate Team was never how you described people always used sweaty teams but the gameplay wasn't so obnoxious back in the day
@@nathan113 I think it’s more previously it was sweaty, but it was never everyone using the most expensive cards against me every game I played.
Great video always good to hear others opinion on FIFA. I just want this game to just be fun again not a chore.
I still haven’t got my TOTY Modric compensation from that draft objective from TOTY….. I got WC Modric
You are never getting compensation for that
People really call this game a chore, you're not getting paid for it and you're barely getting rewarded.
I know you need a silver team for the odd objective but really think having competitive game modes for those level cards is an alternative to just playing rivals and champs.
i really wish trade offers came back to fifa with all these untradable cards.
how they cant make price ranges for a trade offers amazes me if theyre so scared of people just sending coins or too many players
a fut player already has a price range and so would cards you would send in an offer.
MAKING IT A YEARLY GAME.
The one and only reason that no one seems to get.
Exactly, why do you think the cod series has been dying over the years as well
I had been a long time player in Fifa.
3. Player skills
Before diving into these three things I will give the basics of the game so everyone has some context.
(legends are always on good form)
In Efootball, players have different playing styles by position.
3223 possession based style Name (playstyle, position, form from A to E)
Casillas (Offensive GK B)
Timber (Buildup CB A) Gvardiol (Buildup CB B ) Beckenbauer (Build up CB B)
Rodri (Anchor DMF A) F De Jong (Orchestrator DMF B)
F Wirtz (Deep Lying Forward, AMF, A) R. Gullit (classic NO. 10 AMF B)
Salah (Prolific Winger, RW, A) Kvaratshkelia (Prolific W, LW, A)
Rummenige (Goal Poacher, CF, B)
This squad was made because I had a lot of prolific wingers and orchestrators in form for the week.
4123 possession based style Name (playstyle, position, form from A to E)
Cassillas (Offensive GK B)
Cafu (offensive RB B) Nesta (Destroyer CB B) Puyol (Destroyer CB B) Alba (Offensive LB B)
Rijkaard (Orchestrator DMF B)
De bruyne (Creative Playmaker, AMF B) Pedri (Creative Playmaker AMF A)
Gnabry (Creative Playmaker, RW, B) S. Berhuis (Prolific Winger, LW, B)
Van Basten (Goal Poacher, CF, B)
This squad was made because I had a lot of technically gifted passers available through form.
At its simplest, the decline in this game and our enjoyment in it comes down to 3 broad factors:
Can’t lie I only play Career mode now, rarely touch Ultimate team nowadays
they could improve drafts so so much. if they added sbc cards, position modifiers, and even create a generations fut draft, it would be massive.
I think the game would be better if they gave rewards after you get your 8 wins in rivals. Once you get your 8 wins there’s no point in playing.
Thank you Nep. Could you please do another video giving all your suggestions to improve the game ?
the problem with ultimate team is that it is impossible to get an ultimate team from gameplay. they have monetized r9, dinho, pele, eusebio, vieira, maldini, gullit, cruyff, and blanc. those cards are impossible to have together. also the way ea patches the game and just nerf your players. you can't tell me 85 pace in October is like 85 pace in may. they are not the same. in FIFA 18 when icons were introduced if a prime icon sbc was released it was there from the point of release to the end of the game. you could work to get the icons you wanted not the ones Ea hand picked for you. they give you less and less for more work.
The fact that we grind for a team that will be reseted each year is the most boring part. People have had enough I think.
All I want from the past is Fifa 19 league and icon sbc's.
Overall agree with most things you said, good video. Hopefully EA FC is a new dawn
FIFA 18 is where gameplay started to go downhill and then 19 was the first horrific game
31:30 Nepenthez genuinely might be the first gamer in 10 years to forget the word for a pickaxe 🤣
guys in the max chem mode do u need to place players in the right pos?
Making FIFA so stale and making it die quicker is defo a way for EA to gradually turn us against FIFA and play EA sports FC in the future
Remember the futchamps kits people where scared of them😂
oh my days 🤣🤣🤣
Love the video. It’s helped me whilst I get 5-0 up on semi pro squad battles and then just bounce around the house doing jobs 😂
Not the only one lol
I think what I am enjoying the most this year is the music tracks from past FIFAs...that says all you need to know, right?
First 2 months with 23 was so Fun. At this stage sold the game.
Always the best time of any FIFA
I remember in fifa 19 I think it was they added sbcs and objectives in the draft and it was fun.
Anyone else think moments wouldve been used for objectives
Eg having to recreate Bales UCL final goal to get his EOE card
I still fantasize about FIFA 12 and 13, even 10 and 11. It had soul
There is too many special cards, fifa 12-15 was the best for this reason
Thank you for what you do,Because you really understand us🤧… remember when playing fut was free
What a dumb comment. No one is forcing you to pay for points.
Death, Taxes and a Nep video complaining about "the current state of Fifa"
Having Meta cards and icons killed it
There is no one better in the business than EA at repackaging and marketing things that have already been in the game and selling them as new and revolutionary. It's honestly impressive.
I can't even do my obj now. I got promoted to Div 2 and I get smashed the majority of games. Now I just go into SB and set the controller down whilst I do something else.
Bro I gotta get high just to sit and play 5 squad battle bc I can’t sit and focus
everything in fifa has turned to them making as much money as possible.
The problem with fifa is the player movements they move so awkward plus nearly every goal goes to the top or bottom corner and it gets boring fast fifa 14-15-16 was the best fifa ever made
Fifa 17 was the best and the last real good one, only fifa 20 lockdown came close to the fifa 13-fifa 17 era
Forgot to mention things like prime icon moments and constant mistakes in game that just take the piss out of players
Looking forward to seeing what you have to say 👌🏽
I’m glad 2k are dropping a game as well later this year! Should bring competition to EA, and hopefully they step it up. Or else I’m playing FIFA2k next season
2k are bringing a football game?
@@brooke2598 yup! Fifa have soled their rights to 2k for the upcoming season
Lol if you've actually played MyTeam from 2k then you honestly wouldn't be excited
Not seen any confirmation of this anywhere? I'd gladly try a new football game. All anybody does is use fastest players on game and run down wing and pass across for a goal. Also the over powered custom tactics are absolutely pathetic. Its so boring playing versus same players and same tactics constantly.
20:09 games per day limit forces daily online users to stay high and be consistent daily, good marketing, crap gameplay :///
