After paying $4 for some wilted dill yesterday I realized I want to start growing my own food, but I have a condo. Saw this on Amazon so thanks for the review!! Added to cart and subscribed!
How are you liking your GardenCube? I got mine a few months ago and I love it!
I was given this exact unit as a birthday gift. Thanks for taking the time to do this video; I have learned a lot. My best to you.
I realize your Garden Cube does not come with the circular labels you can use to cover the top of the pod baskets. These are needed to help prevent algae from developing on the grow sponges. The mixture of water , light and plant nutrients is a breeding ground for algae so using the labels would help prevent the light from coming into the water.
Hello,
I received one as a gift for x-mas.
Now I can start mine after seeing your video thank you for sharing🌱🌱🌱🌱
Thank you so much for this video! Sorry, when do you add the fertilizer included? I unfortunately planted multiple kinds, I'm on day 3 and the dill has started to sprout but I'm not sure how the fertilizing works and how long to leave the little lids on. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!
I put in the fertilizer about every 3-4 weeks when I start to see yellowish new leaves vs bright green new leaves. Take the lids out when the little starting leaves start touching the domes.
Nice video! I'll have to wait to plant, because it's too cool in my home to germinate right now. Saving your video to watch again later. Thanks!
As long as it's room temperature where you set this up, it should be warm enough for seeds to germinate regardless of the season outdoors.
Hi, I purchased the cube however, my daughter got to my quick guide and seemingly my instructions because I can’t find it. How much fertilizer do I put in each week? Thank you great video.
Question..... Can you detach the light? I want to use the cube with a Different light I have in my grow tent.
Just started putting mine together. Thanks for the clear instructions. Now to figure out how much fertilizer to mix. Soaked my seeds but I didn’t see you soak the sponges for 15 min so I am gonna assume that’s not vital for success.
Yes, I just followed the written instructions. Best of luck on your seedlings. Hope you subscribe.
Such a beautiful video 🥰 I can’t wait to start mine. I have 2 of them 🥰❤️
Have fun! My tomato plants have been growing like crazy tall. I had to prune them because they were over my head. Still no fruit yet though.
@@LolaGenie No, that's the frustrating part. They've grown into big plants so tall that' I've had to prune them when they got over 3ft tall. But no fruit.
Nice! If you have recommendations/reviews for stand-alone LED lights, I'd watch that for sure.
My dill plants are tilted over big time, with one of them touching the ground a tiny bit. Any idea why? My two theories were 1) they are at the sides of the gardencube so maybe they are growing too much towards the center where the light is or 2) I have it near the window, so maybe they are growing towards the actual sun. My two basil plants in the middle are growing straight up for now. It also seems too early to be able to stake them up. Thanks!
@@MoondogReviews Not yet. I thought it might be too early at just two weeks/wanted to keep the light lower. Wasn't sure if that was normal for them to be falling over without the stakes.
How often do you add the fertilizer liquids to the pods, and how much? Do you add the fertilizer liquids before or after germination 🤔 Thanks for the video.
There's a little fill line in the cup. I put the fertilizer in every week starting from before germination.
Second question - how often should you fertilize and/or change the water?
I add fertilizer ever 3-4 weeks. I haven't experienced a yellowing of the leaves that indicate they aren't getting enough water. I also add more water every 2 weeks or so. It's winter so its very cold in my garage so perhaps that's why the plants haven't been sucking up more water in my case?
The cube instructions say to add the fertilizer after germination....and they show the portions to add. My seeds are all sprouting now and i guess its time to fertilize...but my water level is still at 3L. Do i remove all the water and mix the full portion of fertilizer for 3L and refill? I'm a confused beginner to the whole gardening thing...help
My parsley is falling over. It's about 3" tall and is just lying on the top of the unit. What can I do?
They included these green plastic rods in my kit. They go into the little holes next to the planter/cone holes. You use these rods as stakes. I staked up the cilantro and tomato plants to these rods and they've been growing well past the max height of the lamp.
Thanks for the video! How high should I set the lamp when I first plant my seeds?
I went to clean my system today, and now can’t find the back plug. Can you post a pic of it? Or tell me if you can buy a replacement?
I donated the system to a school science class so I don't have it anymore to take a photo of. Sorry. You could use a cut down wine cork?
After 14 or 15 days can we transfer these plants to my garden, I mean that can Itranfer them to soil.
Yes. I wouldn't wait longer than that because the roots can get entagled with eachothwr.
@@MoondogReviews this is true. I became busy and ignored my parsley a couple months ago. I just kept feeding water and once in a while taking a branch off to eat. It became a bush and nearly broke the machine when I finally took notice of what was going on in the corner of my kitchen. I had to basically pry it out, wiggling the giant root out from the hole in the base plate. It eventually came out, but it risked breaking the cover and killing the plant. I got it out in the garden now and it's doing ok. But hopefully won't do that again.
Question! Do you keep the light on all day everyday ?
Yes. That's the whole point of these systems is to grow faster than growing outdoors.
Excuse my ignorance, but growing cilantro, do I need to put the vegetable light on?
Yes, that's what they recommend. The fruit light is for plants that requiring flowering to produce fruit.
Thank you so much . Do I transfer my cilantro to a bigger pot , or just cut and use from the garden cube. Also, how often do I add fertilizer? I noticed the water level has dropped a small amount from the 3ltr at the beginning of using the growing experience. Do,I,just use purified after again to top up or add fertilizer?
You can cut it from the Cube. Though I'm not enough of a hortaculturist to know if the herb will grow faster in a pot or hydroponics. I suspect the later but I don't have the data to back that up.
@@MoondogReviews thank you so much and thank you for your garden cube videos.
@@elizabethhewson4644 You're welcome. I hope your a subscriber to my channel. I can't tell who is.
Do you know how to reset the lighting schedule? I have one of these, but the light doesn't stay on for 16 hours; if I turn it on before I go to work, the light will be off when I return home. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong: the instructions don't go into much detail about the light timer.
How do you change the water? Where do you put the plants
I just poured and added more when it got about 1/3 of the way down from the top. I eventually planted them in a flower bed and hoped it would bear fruit. One did. But just 1 tomato. It's too cold here in SF for tomatoes. Hope you subscribed.
I've been using one of these for a month now, no matter what the roots just start to rot days after the plant fully sprouts, it's been pretty useless.
I wonder if it makes any difference if you use distilled or bottled water instead of tap?
how often do you add the liquid feed ?
The instructions say whenever you start to see yellowing of leaves. I've been adding every 3 weeks.
@@MoondogReviews Thank you so much!!!!! I am having a blast with mine! Even moved some extra ones to my fishtank. I have no clue how often to dump the whole reservoir out. It says be careful the roots do not get entangled with the motor but why did they not design it so there was a screen in front of the pump ya know.
What are the rods for?
They're support stakes. As the plants grow, they don't have soil to support them and they often start to tip over, so you should tape them to the stakes.
Might want to check out cycling water; every two weeks or so.
Always check the water. Mine never had mold despite not changing the water for over 3 months.
How much of fertilizer packets A and B do I add to the 100 ml bottles A & B
Thanks for making this video! Quick question for you: I am trying to grow multiple herbs (cilantro, parsley, basil, dill). Some of them have germinated, so I have removed the lids, but others have not. Is it okay to start adding the nutrients before the others germinate?
That should be fine. But be advised that growing mixed herbs is problematic. I found that the plants have drastically different growing rates. My tomatoes quickly overgrew my basil and choked off it's light. My basil ultimately failed. The cilantro kept up but barely. Don't be afraid to prune if the plants get too tall. Hope you subscribe.
I just got one and it doesnt have a drainage tube, it just has a hole on the back of the system, what do i do with that?
Does this work for.......... yknow..?
Honestly, if you're State allows dispensaries, it's cheaper to buy. But if you want to do it as a hobby. It's .... ok. Real high intensity grow lights are way better.
I wish you would have gone into how often to add the fertilizer etc ... not much real help here for beginners.
@@MoondogReviewsI disagree, I found your video to be extremely helpful! You answered all of my questions. ☺️ Thank you for posting!!
Trump 2024 bro. San Francisco used to be such a great and safe city for us, Asian people.
Easy way to soak seeds.
Hope this gets noticed, I see you starting plants/seeds. I have found a way to start seeds quickly, I take an egg tray that would hold 15 eggs (my IDOO has 12 basket holes, same as my MUFGA) and I take some domes and turn them upside down and place them in the egg tray to match where the seeds will be placed in the IDOO/MUFGA. I add a little water and start placing the seeds in the domes the same place as they will be in the IDOO/MUFGA, soak them for 6 hours and then place them in the sponges in the baskets where you want them to germinate. I have had seeds sprout in 2 days done this way. I hope this helps someone.
Agreed, egg grates are great 'free' starters.
