One of the best albums ever produced.
Should probably just do this entire album.
Minus 2 songs he's probably heard a dozen times. You know em
IMHO the whole album is amazing
Yeah why not
@@212mochaman you can not listen to Siamese Dream in full without those two songs. Whole album is a masterpiece.
Agreed
The entire Siamese Dream album is fire!
Thru the eyes of Ruby, another moving track from the Punpkins
"Here is No Why" and "Porcelina of the Vast Oceans" on Mellon Collie along with"Ruby" are some of the best songwriting I've ever heard and seen live from any band...Top tier Pumpkins tunes that imo often get overlooked because of Siamese Dream and it's classic status (obviously well deserved for it's amazing guitar tone/songwriting/production)..Just a killer band period!💯
Every single moment of Siamese Dream is just perfect.
I think the drums are the best part of this song. Followed by those groovy guitar strum patterns.
You have to see the live version titled "Smashing Pumpkins - Geek USA (Live Munich Germany 1993)" on UA-cam. :)
Great track and great review, David. More Pumpkins please.
Smashing Pumpkins have a lot of high energy songs.
The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right)
Quiet
The Groover
Rocket
Soma
Bodies - another in your face track
XYU
An ode to no one
Tales of a scorched earth
Hello Kitty Kat
Jellybelly
@@Gutsens An Ode To No One from the 2000 Metro performance, is one of the greatest live performances ever. Insanely epic! 🤘
Tristessa, Hello Kitty Kat
@@Gutsens don't forget Silver Fu*k, X.Y.U, Gossamer
Love your reaction - very genuine. Discovering the Pumpkins for the first time.. man I wish I could that again!
You’re gonna be shocked when you hear the Smashing Pumpkins song “Rhinoceros”. Then listen to their song “Pissant“.
Great review - one of my top Smashing Pumpkins tracks. Hopefully you can check out ‘Here Is No Why’ or ‘Silverf*ck’ at some point if you haven’t already
One of the first cassettes I purchased myself at I think fourteen. This and Korn's Freak on a Leash. I would literally fall asleep to it on loop through my Sony Walkman. The whole album is incredible.
You can here Zeps Achilles Last Stand in this track. My favourite from this album. You can hear Corgan and Chamberlain locked together all the way. 🤘🏼
Siamese Dream is unironically a masterpiece
Great job dh… such an awesome start to finish record. One of the first ones i bought when i got a turntable. Give me this album over melon collie 10 times out of 10
First let me say I Liked & Subscribed to your channel.
I was going to hammer down on you for being music critic that hasn’t listened to Smashing Pumpkins.
Brother… you have to allow Smashing Pumpkins into your life. They are a real game changer. True artist. Their music will take you on a glorious journey. 👍🏼
Jimmy Chamberlin best drummer in the world.
Having watched a bunch of your videos I appreciate your knowledge of music and totally respect your opinions. Thus, I was so happy to see you vibing to this modern classic. Easily their best song in my opinion.
I do love this song. Just so well conceived and so well executed.
Heavier tracks of the album. Cherub Rock, Quiet, Rocket, Geek USA and Silverfuck.
One of their top drawer tumes
You’ve probably since learned that this was BEFORE Thunderkiss, bro.
Thunderkiss 65 👍👍 u listened to astro creep 2000 then I guess
on tempo change- I tried to set a metronome to this- and I think for the ENTIRE SONG- it's kinda wobbly, or the tempo is just done "by feel". Or it started with a "base recording" of one performance, and everyone else matched it.
so - that calm section in the middle- I think it kiiiinda slows down, but mainly the feel change there is just QUARTER TIME. But yeah- the transition out of that back to the fast feel is pretty gangster
Best smashing pumpkins song
So much swing in this song from the drummer.
If you like the drums listen to La Dolly Vita
Listen to the original pre master.....much clearer on digital!!!!! Great reaction
looser chords rather than the palm muting of white zombie, didn' t find them similar. Both great though!
Really good song. Jimmy Chamberlain was/is such a great drummer. It’s just too bad his heroin problems got in the way.
If you think that song is cool, listen to Gish!
Possibly the most overrated band of the 90s
Pff
I have to agree with what people are commenting. Siamese Dream warrants an entire listen. As far as albums go, it's truly a masterpiece. I only feel that way with a handful of albums.
Gish being one of them :-)
Agree. It’s is their best. They captured lighting in a bottle this album.
Billy gets a lot of criticism for his vocals, but I love them on this album and Gish. His delivery is really creative. The way he seamlessly switches from a gentle, breathy shoegaze style to shouty, gritty rock multiple times in the same verse is quite special.
His vocals on the records have a little secret, he would have D'arcy record vocals for every track in a higher tone, then sync her vocal track to his own and turn its volume down - basically using her as an effect for his own voice. She mentioned this during a public argument a few years ago and Filter confirmed it, saying they'd had her do the same thing on one of their records.
@@georgial6398 Wow thanks for sharing that. I had no idea that's how they recorded vox on this album :o Super cool!
@@georgial6398 Never heard that before. You have a link or any source to confirm this?
@@claytuckett1830 I'll dig it up, found it (w images containing her mention of it and Filter confirming it in a reply on Instagram) on an SP messageboard.
@@georgial6398 awesome sp trivia/recording insight!
thank you!
This album was engineered by Butch Vig, the drummer for the band Garbage. He also did the Nirvana's Nevermind among others. I think this was his best effort i.m.o.
Butch Vig is first and foremost a producer. he also just happens to have a good ear for drums and can play drums. aside from Shirley, the other 2 members of the band are also producers.
And this is the 'slow' album version of the song. They really kick up the tempo when they play it live. Jimmy Chamberlin at his best.
the slow album version of the song....? what other album versions are there?
@@kristopherryanwatson this is the slow album version compared to the fast live versions
Nothing blew you away... Its generally regarded as some of the best drumming in the world. Especially the snare work.
This is what they sound like a significant % of the time, at least in their 3 real albums. They had several modes and would mix it up often even within single songs, but one of the major modes was a metal band. A notably loud one.
One of the best songwriters outside of Tool.
Billy is outstanding. And yeah, this is very Rob Zombie-ish. This really takes me back to '92.
Great review. Let's hope the other two songs from the Patreon member are from the Siamese Dream album. The feel of the album from start to finish is euphoric.
Yup. I requested Hummer next
@@amassaic Hell yeah. 🤘
This is Smashing Pumpkins. The best band in the 90's. I have millions that would back me up on this. This song is from the 1993 album "Siamese Dream". Fantastic album. Just as its 1995 follower: "The Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness". Billy Corgan on the vocals and the guitar is the genius behind almost all the songs and lyrics. Jimmy Chamberlin is a monster on the drums. Nice reaction David!
Best band of the 90's is Nightwish. Started 1996. Peaked 20 yrs later but meh
Siamese Dream is the best album of the 90's, but Nine Inch Nails is the best band of the 90's. Gish is a good album, Melon Collie has a lot of filler, don't need to mention Adore. Downward Spiral and The Fragile are both brilliant, and both way better than Gish and Melon Collie.
Best band of the 90s? Lol are they the ONLY band from the 90s you've listened to because they are def not the best. The most overrated yes
@@screwdriverman5-kf2ui You're free to have a different opinion. I love a lot of other 90's bands, but SP, for me, was #1. In quality vs quantity of songs they were the best. What are your favorite bands from the 90's? And please, don't say Green Day, NIN, Nightwish or Metallica
Best band is personal opinion. 90s would be Soundgarden or Radiohead for me. Smashing Pumpkins top five. Siamese Dream qualifies as a perfect album but other albums also did in the 90s.
Whole Album is a stunner!
Jimmy C on drums and the distortion and tone make this album somehow more amazing.
Great suggestion epic track…album…band
I'm a HUGE fan and collector of The Smashing Pumpkins. I would love to see you do a reaction to these songs:
Psychodelic
Soma
Jellybelly
Bodies
Where Boys Fear to Tread
Space Jam
Superchrist
Love that you loved this. This song always gets me hype, so unpredictable and the drumming is sexual.
I believe Jimmy Chamberlin is the best rock drummer of the past 30 years. His work on the first 3 Smashing Pumpkins albums was just phenomenal. But you really have to see him play to appreciate how effortlessly he maintains such intense grooves and fills. Geek USA is a brilliant example of how Chamberlin's drum sound shaped the whole band's sound. Here he is, more than two decades later, performing the drum part for GeeK USA at a drum clinic in London. So cool. ua-cam.com/video/61VGr1-VXAg/v-deo.html
Love this reaction. However I'd give it a solid 10, as in my opinion there's not much better out there from any artist. As a huge Pumpkins fan, I hope you react to more of their music. My top recommendations: Siva, Soma, An Ode To No One, Thru The Eyes Of Ruby. 🤘
Its the pumpkins all right
This is there best album. One of my all time favorite albums in general
goat pumpkins song
Great
Thank you for the Mighty SP!!! I really appreciate the breakdown of the nuances. Helps me understand appreciate them even more. Excellent work.
Absolutely love this review! The pure wonder in your eyes as it develops is fantastic.....Siamese Dream is a masterpiece
while I'm at it- check out Pumpkins' "Drown" from the singles soundtrack
Love the reaction man!
Happy you enjoyed the song!!
It's the thing with the Pumpkins, you never see them coming. They are special like that.
SILVERFU(K!
Such a joy to watch you letting that TUUUUNE overtake you, man :) Takes me back!
Wait, you look like you’re clearly old enough to have heard this landmark album once or twice in your life especially if you ever been into rock ‘n’ roll. Make this make sense. 🤯 This is Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream!!!
Not overly into their other albums, but this album is great.
Hell ya great song from a great album
it sounded like white zombie to me when i first heard this song
Love your channel man. Epic.
FEELIN' YOU Sip!!! Glad to hear you're enjoying the content.
Every song's a drum clinic on these first two albums.
"I feel like i'm getting punked" golden lol
the glory that is Jimmy Chamberlin... we had a fun time with this song on our Top 50 SP Songs series.
Possibly the best track they ever did? it's up there Silverfuck, also on this album, also great
Soma will always be their masterpiece.
Let me guess, you are a drummer?
5:38 Jimmy Chamberlain simply rips shit. And this is one of the top-tier examples of that. if you're not sick of this album yet, check out the song "Quiet"
Please check out "Mayonaise" by Smashing Pumpkins too! Thanks
This riff destroys anything Rob Zombie did. Billy was no joke as a guitar player and he's backed up by Jimmy Chamberlin going fucking nuts on the drums.
Delta Empire does an absolutely astounding drum cover of this song. Please check it out. Drums are more pronounced.
I dont know how I missed this. This is my favorite SP song ever and I was a Pumpkin head in high school. I'm sooooo nervous to hear your reaction. Cmon Mr Heretic don't let me down lol.
Wish I could tell you it sounds like Thunder Kisses but ive only heard it once. In concert. Cant remember how it goes
This was a great reaction to one of my top five most influential albums of all time.
I totally love this song. Getting a feeling it's your cup of tea, let's see
My favourite off a great album. Brilliant song.
13:57 you loved it we know
Smashed it,go on smashing.
Pre thunder man!
Gishy.
You're right, there are definitely some similarities between Thunderkiss 65 and this - but I think this is riff is far better. And a better song overall.
This came first. 👍
