Sir, while explaining limit point, when you took the neighbourhood of a, why didn't you take {a,b}, {a,c} , {a,d} and others according to previous definition of neighborhood?

Because the definition mentions that this should be an "Open NBD" of point a. And for a subset to be open, it must be a neighborhood of each element. you can easily check that (a,d), (a,c) do not satisfy this criterion.

Null set is both open and closed . So it's a semiopen set /"clopen" set is the right word

By definition of a topology T, we know all element of T is open,therefore "∅" Is OPEN.
X also belong to T and therefore X is open.
Now,
1. Complement of ∅ is X (here both X and ∅ is open which is a contradiction to the definition of open and closed sets since complement of an Open set should be CLOSED) .
2. Complement of X is ∅ (same reason as 1)
Therefore ∅ is both open and closed. CLOPEN SET!!
