The Chapter 7 was excellent. Definitely recommend if you get the chance. Sound like the Chapter 8 is a winner too
Ch 7 was an absolute home run, you should absolutely pick one up if you should come across it. The one with all the different wood finishes was Ch 6, which I skipped as the whiskey was quite young for the price tag.
I was gifted Chapter 7 and just didn’t really like it. I think the general perception is that 7 was a disappointment but that’s why there’s so many options. Something for everyone.
@@Average_BourbonDad That’s odd, I didn’t get the vibe that people didn’t like Ch 7. Every review I saw for it said it was a banger. If I could find another near MSRP I’d probably buy a backup, that’s how much I like it. But like you say, everyone has their own tastes.
It's funny, I sent a real afficianado friend of mine a sample of Chapter 7....I love it, he HATED IT. Said it tasted like leather and oak. Weird, all I get are complex fruit notes., and brown sugar-Vanilla. Looking forward to Chp 8!
Ch 7 was was too malty-did not like at all
Chapter 7 was super unique, fantastic pour if it's what you're into. I can see why some might not like it. For me easily the most unique flavor profile of any bourbon I own
The pop-up text chat was a nice touch!
Need to start an SLB drinking game. Drink every time the following happens
Kurt says “For me personally “
Trenton burps
Trenton touches his face
Either has an off camera conversation
Kurt calls his wife Babe
Trenton fails on a pop culture reference
Other suggestions…
Trenton says some off the wall thing followed by “but not in a bad way”
I appreciate that Kurt adds that frequently. There is a meaningful difference between a bad product and taste preference. It is respectful to the product and the listener. It is a big reason why I continue to check out this channel.
Trenton comes up with a tasting note that’s actually a smell or sound
When Trenton doesn't know what a word means.
160 msrp is real steep for a 4 yr. Jim beams pricing is all over the place.
I was a little disappointed Trenton didn't make a picture of a bunch of different whiskey's sitting around a table at Thanksgiving dinner to complete his image of "Family Style" whiskey
I honestly wanted to but just didn't have the time last night lol
At around 100 I’d give it a shot. I just feel like what they are asking is a bit steep for what is essentially a blended rye whiskey. But I don’t blame them either because in this market they will have no problem selling it. I feel like a Knob Creek store pick at 120 proof for around $60 if the way to go.
Rye is typically more expensive than bourbon so its no surprise its more expensive than their previous bourbon releases. Theres also so pretty old stock in there which drives the price up. Im not a big fan of knob creek 9yr or even the 12yr. Way too much of that peanut flavor for me. I don't get it as much in some bookers and the one little book i have, chapter 7, so id much rather pay more money for bottles i enjoy more than less money for bottles i dont care for.
@@jacksmith2315 I’m all about everyone buying and enjoying what they like. 👍 🤙
I believe the Knob Creek Single Barrel ryes are 115 proof.
3 Total Wines (I hate TW but had a moment of weakness) had/have chapter 8 for $134 limit 1. Carmel on shelf, Avon and 86th in case.
Thank you guy’s love your shows USAF here
I remember when Booker's was $45, and saying to myself, who would pay that for a bourbon. 😆😆😆
It's wayyyyy overpriced these days by me ($110-150) Not worth it
Nice! My chapter #7 is one of my top pours! Really looking forward to this bottle! Cheers!
The 11 year rye in this is probably the old over holt cask strength that should be out this year.
1:40 Trenton, I'm glad you're humble about it. I know about humility - I'm a Texan, and in Texas everything's bigger including our humility. 🤠
9:01 Mental or Technical Problems Have Occurred 🤣🤣🤣
Love the richness of the deep amber!

0:01 uh oh the boys are taking a chance on Jim Beam
0:28 Trenton makes empty promises
0:49 lol great recap Kyle!
1:12 future video leak
1:38 still trying to grow the clout
2:05 Trenton makes up his own definitions
3:14 higher praise cannot be given from Kurt 🙌
3:44 hidden story time with Trenton
4:58 the boys didn’t warm up for the show
5:09 a kentucky coffee, hold the coffee

8:13 Trenton gets lost in thought, gumballhead is very nice
8:53 Kurt disappears off screen! No cuts
9:20 wow! Much more disclosure
9:35 Trenton can do some easy math
10:29 Trenton tasting note: composty
10:58 Trenton takes one for the team and takes the rye home
12:28 trenton knows what’s going to really happen
13:22 so much praise from Kurt 😮
13:38 no cuts, thanks to our veterans and especially their fallen brothers and sisters
14:11 nice sign off and nod…. Buuuuurp lol
oh this one sounds delicious and interesting. I will be on the hunt for this. cheers
Love that light pine note in rye. Emerald Giant from Redwood Empire gives me that pine note
Same here.
Great review. Just a tip, for me sometimes the music was too loud and I couldn't hear you talking very well. Otherwise, keep up the good work. 😎🤙🏼
I just picked up the LB chap 8 for my brother. Its really good. Its very very dilly/that dill note a loy of people say is common in rye. I drink a good amouth of rye, i dont typically get much dill in most of the ryes i have and have tried, but this little book is very dill forward and on the finish. I always thought the dill note would be very off putting to me, but i like it a lot. I have the chap 7, i think that may be better, but i still like this a lot and hope i can find it for myself when im ready for it since i have a couple tastings coming up raffling off brook hill bourbon and rye and found north hell diver, so depending how those tasting go, hopefully i get lucky, if not, ill prob get the little book, if i can find it again
Great video. Trenton was focused!
Chapter 7 was fantastic! I'm looking forward to grabbing Ch 8 now!
The 10 year overholt is beam and fantastic. Hope I can find this as I am on a rye kick. Cheers..
'Chapter 7: The Redemption' was fantastic! It's gone up around KY to well over $200. I think I paid the $180 MSRP when it dropped
Chapter 7 was “in retrospect”
To start i wanted to say how much i enjoy watching the channel. I watch it with my dad all the time. Thanks for all the great advice. Leads me to this question. I wanted to get an AWS bottle. I prefer a sweet and dark profile. Would you recommend Georgia heartwood or the fiddler toasted? Any tip is appreciated. Thanks again for the whiskey recommendations
I was pleasantly surprised with the chapter 7. Looking forward to getting this one. I don’t seek out regular Bookers but I will the chapter 8.
I had a sample at Bee's on Saturday, and it is fire! Sadly, they were sold out by the time I got there. Enjoy
I’m good with pine hints (have gotten that from Redwood Empire Emerald Giant). What I don’t like is dill (looking at you, Black Maple Hill rye).
Chapter 7 was incredible. I have the bottle and it’s about half gone unfortunately. Would absolutely buy another if I came across another one
Can you guys do a video of 2XO blends ???
As long as I see this at retail, I think I’m gonna have to buy this one the only little books I own or chapter 3 and seven
Sounds like a great buy! Especially with all that rye in there, I love the mint and piney stuff too 😂
Have you had Emerald Giant from Redwood Empire? I get a really nice, subdued pine note in there. Actually gives me a little Eagle Rare character as well
@@houstonSoloI haven’t but I love the eagle rare for its flavour for the price! Thank you, I’ve written it down to the list :)
Little Book Ch. 7 is fantastic! Highly recommend and would love to see you all do a blind of some of them!
Any chance there is some of that unicorn Bookers Rye in there?
I heard of tree huggers before but, what Trent does to trees I am not sure if it’s legal.
I'd love a bottle...if I can find one.
I’m a big fan of Beam products. Would like to give it a try.
And then Harry said "it's 80 bucks, now do you want one?"
$80 for a little book, ya...right. never going to happen. Be lucky to find one for $135.
@@jacksmith2315 Hey Jack, plain ol' Bookers is $125 here.
Have you guys tried any of the Bourbon's from Milam & Greene?
I also like Three Floyd’s Gumbel Head !
"What is worth $160?" Agreed
I think Curt was doing a little Memorial Day celebration today lol
I’ve got an opened bottle of ch 1.
Guys you HAVE to try the Rare Character apricot brandy barrel
I tend to like Beam but I've never sprung for a Little Book.
Ch 7 was best ever. One of the best bourbons I’ve ever had
Chap 3 blew it away. 7 is too malty
Can't remember - ya'll done a blind with KC 7 yr rye?
Is Knob Creek rye worthwhile? I never hear anybody talk about it.
I’m coming to Trenton’s house!! 😂
Not big on ryes. Are there any lower rye Little Books?
I'd love to try this, but I'm out on the price, I've got 200 plus bottles, 35 that I don't like at all. Anything over 125 is a hard decision. Cheers 🍻
I want this bottle. I have close to or over 200 bottles ive bought since feb 2023. Little book chapter 7 being one of them and its amazing. Most of my bottles are in the 100+. Quite a few being 130-160. Not a ton 50 or less, and those are the ones i dont care for the most. Do i have some 100+ i dont like, of course, but far less than the $50 or less price point. Even bottles $50 or less that everyone says, "its an amazing bottle, at that price" i just dont care for them. Some are ok, but they just have a youthy taste thats not appealing to me. Like green river bourbon and rye, they are bad, but not great bottles. I wouldnt buy them again, and so many people rave about how good they are. There's not much in the $35 or less i would buy again. Buffalo trace picks, old forester rye, eagle rare picks 35-40, even william single barrels, those i will keep buying, but theres not much else. I agree it can be hard to pull the trigger on some releases $125+, but some of my favorite bottles are in that price point. Just have to be careful which ones you buy.
Yeah. I’d get Calumet 15 or Sam Houston 15 (potato potahto) but otherwise there are so many
Us old blind guys been doing the camera zoom for years for reading tiny labels. 😊
I can't tell you how may times I have pinched-to-zoom physical text or pictures.
Probably an off-batch of Knob Creek 18 blended in there if I had to guess
I have a bottle of wild turkey 12 year old it is the original 12 it is over 45 years old in the original wooden box never opened what do you think it is worth?
any old overholt 10 year vibes in this?
Just got one for $160, got Ch 7 for $117 last year, it keeps trending that way and this’ll be my last purchase. Got this one cause Ch 7 was amazing, imo.
Chapter 2 was also very rye heavy
3 Floyd’s!!
Chapter 7 is worth a try
Surprised that with all the higher proof tastings you do, I never see you add a drop or dash of water to open it up after the initial taste-especially if it comes off “hot.”
As a reminder, Memorial Day is to honor Service members who have died either in service or afterwards. Veteran's Day in November is for service members in general.
I came to laugh knowing that some boomer would chime in with this comment. We know, we all know…
@@user-jp8mx1sp5v Apparently not everyone does know.
I think KY style is the 52% rye and the PA style is the 80% rye recipe they use
Its not ky style vs pa style he was asking about. It was family style specifically. It says theres ky family style and pa family style in the blend and the specific family style is what he was asking about
@@jacksmith2315 but that’s literally what it is… like compare what KC 7 rye is and what the new Old Overholt is. That’s the difference between the two family styles
Is this worth the premium over Old Overholt??
At that price I'm just buying Michters barrel strength Rye.
PA is the high rye rye. Kentucky style or Maryland style is the barely legal rye.
Thats not what he was asking about. Specifically family style rye. The blend says theres ky family style and pa family style. Its the family style part hes not sure of. Not just ky and pa.
Where do you guys get your music for your videos?
Great video as usual but please sort the music Trenton. Sounds like we're in an elevator! 😉
@@jdf7001 I like the soft jazz music
The music doesnt bother me, and most ppl. Its low enough to drown out, but not offensive. Thats the thing, no matter what they put for backround music, someones not going to like it, so they have to find something non offensive. Ppl get offended over everything and anything these days. Its not something i would listen to, but doesnt bother me as their backround music.
Just off the free youtube music library to avoid all copyright issues, searched for relaxing jazz/blues!
I agree with Kurt.
They’re getting everyone ready to rerelease Bookers Rye.
I have ch 1&2 backups unopened. Ch 3 turned me off, and haven’t bought one since. So maybe ch 7 is a buy?
Ch. 7 is phenomenal and it sounds like Ch. 8 is too
"Happy" Memorial Day. Maybe only veterans care about this kind of thing, but it's Memorial Day, not Veterans' Day.
It is, however, a good day to have and share a glass of whiskey in remembrance and with thanks, so the channel's on target there.
As a 38 year military veteran, we don’t say Happy in front of Memorial Day. It’s a somber occasion to remember those who have fallen. This day is not for veterans living. I appreciate the sentiment.
🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I’ve tried three other little books and I’m always disappointed. I do like gumballhead though… might give it a shot. Wish they’d write the percentages and even if it meant admitting that the 18 yr is like. 00002 % of the mash bill . I’d buy it for the honesty.
Do you ever have issues with bottles left open for years? Seems like a lot of bottles behind you that don't get touched. Or 5 years ago opened a little book and only drank 2 pours. Is there expiration dates to keep in mind once oxygen has been introduced?
Shouldn’t be too much of a problem if the bottle is close to half full and stored away from direct sunlight. Evaporation will occur but that should be over a long time. If the liquid in the bottle is getting pretty low, transfer it into a smaller bottle so there is less oxygen. The longer you leave a small amount in a regular size bottle, it can influence the flavor. I’ve had bottles that I’ve had open for a handful of years that were close to half full or more and tasted totally normal. I’ve also had one where I let it get too low and sat for too long and it lost nearly all of its flavor.
Not really no, but it depends. In the instance of a bottle open for a few years and only missing a couple pours, thats not going to effect it, and probably the best way to keep it. Especially in a cool dark space. What will effect whiskey, is if its open for a few years and theres 1/2-1/4 of a bottle for a few years. Now theres a lot of head space for the alcohol to evaporate. In this instance, it should be poured into a smaller bottle to keep it the alcohol from evaporating.
@@doubleg2475 Thanks. I'm newer to bourbon. I have a selection started and don't want any of my investment wasted eventually but also like having multiple reference bottles open to sample and blind.
@@jacksmith2315 Thank you. In addition to my previous comment, I was recently at a friend's house looking at his parents liquor (they have passed away but used to be serious party hosts) and noticed a half bottle of Johnny Walker red (I think) that had been stored under a bar in the basement for a questionable amount of years that had some floaties as well as bottle staining. A couple other bottles had this effect. Unopened bottles looked great. I used to drink a lot of wine and recently opened a really nice bottle of Pinot noir vinegar. Didn't want the same outcome for my whiskey.
They have some old videos about it. They make infinity bottles or transfer the unicorns to smaller bottles
A little rich for my blood
Chapter 7 was great. Cracked it with friends then when out next day and got a backup.
Sounds like Chapter 8 is a banger as well
Chapter 6 , for me, wasn’t worth half the cost they charged
Agreed. Chap 7 is amazing. Only little book i have since i just started collecting feb 2023, but this chap 8 sounds like a must have for rye fans.
What does SLB stand for in your name?
If you didn't pick up chapter 7 you missed out. It was incredible!
Unfortunately I’ll never see one. I’ll have to stick with rare breed rye and River roots rye. Local NDP by me in Ohio. Neither Bookers or this Little book come around me ever same with Elijah Craig single barrel. So Larceny BP and rare breed it is. I’m okay with that we can’t have them all.
Chapter 7 was good. Overpriced for what you get, like the entire bookers line, but a good bottle. Little Book is bottle that my non-bourbon friends all look at and go "wow, that has to be special whiskey"
PA rye is no corn in the blend. Kentucky rye is a sweeter version of Maryland rye which is maybe 51-52% rye and the rest corn and barley. Wonder what the high rye 18 year bourbon percent is on this blend.
A while back, someone next to me at a bar ordered Little Book. He said it was nasty. I took a sniff of it, and it smelled like a nasty wet mutt. There are few odors in life that I despise more than dog odor. (Needless to say, I will never have a dog.) I don't know if the bottle was off for some reason or if Little Book had a wet dog release in the past. I've heard that some releases haven't been all that great. Unfortunately, I don't remember which chapter it was. Although I generally like Beam products, simply smelling that stuff put me off Little Book. After seeing this review, I'll have to give it a try if I see this release. It sounds like exactly the sort of thing I would like. I think the chance of finding it in a store is near zero, but maybe a bar will get it.
Gentlemen, appreciate the salute to veterans today, but today is in memory of the war dead of the innocent and civilians. Veterans have a memorial Day, it's Armisist Day aka Veterans Day. Regardless, a toast and a prayer for the fallen today is in order.
Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day)[1] is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2][3] It is observed on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial beginning of summer in the United States.[4]
Hey! First comment. Happy Memorial Day!
7 was also excellent!
Nothing wrong with the veterans shout out but today is about the fallen. I pray for all the families who’ve lost those which gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom 🫡 🍻
What happened to SLB tries? decide it is too much to add on your busy schedule?
Blend of whiskey, not blended whiskey. Blended whiskey has neutral spirit. Unless it Scotch. Different rules lol.
Not true. Means the samething. There's plenty of blenders/ndp's that call it blended whiskey. In scotch, it just means that theres single malt and single grain/that its not a single malt. You can have a scotch single malt thats still blended, but its blended with other scotches of the same malt so they can still call it a single malt, because only 1 malt is used. Most whisk(e)ys on the market today are blended. There's even some single barrels now that are blended, but after they are blended they are aged or finished in single barrel/not a vat/big or small batch, so they can still call it a single barrel, because that bottle came out of a single barrel, not a big or small batch. But, when you see scotch called a blended scotch, it just means theres more than 1 malt or 1 malt and 1 grain. Single malts are still blended, just using the same malt so they dont have to call it a blend, because there is only 1 malt used.
@@jacksmith2315 Blended American Whiskey is required to contain at least 20% straight whiskey; with the balance being unaged neutral spirit or, in a few cases, high-proof light whiskey. It has a general whiskey flavor profile (most closely resembling Bourbon), but lacks any defining taste characteristic.
@jacksmith2315 single malt scotch whisky means that all of the malt whisky comes from a single distillery. Blended Malt scotch whisky is a blend of malts from 2 or more distlleries. Blended scotch whiskey is a blend of malt and grain whisky.
@@xiamengbaby Yes. And that guy is confusing the scotch rules for American rules. Not the same.
@grapesodapopinski571 it gets more confusing when talking about "blended bourbon whiskey"," blended rye whiskey", etc, in that they need to be at least 51% bourbon, rye, etc. [American rules, of course].
Lol. Chapter 3 is the best release ever. You 🤡s
Jim Beam.....no thanks overrated.
