      @@UrbanTarantulas Lots of good close up examples. Your editing/production is spot on too. A tarantula collection - terrestrial video similar to the arboreal x communal video could be cool.

    That was the BEST educational tarantula video I’ve ever watched. From actually pointing out all the anatomy like the book lungs and the high quality picture of what it looks like under the microscope was perfect.
    My favorite part was seeing how calm that male was. I can’t believe he went from trying to skedaddle off the table, to letting you mess with him by lifting up his legs AND pedipalps. I for sure thought he was gonna go into flight mode the instant you touched him.
    You’re obviously very skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to tarantulas. Keep doing what you’re doing man :)

      I've only ever been bitten once, and it was a P. Metallica. I've never been bitten by any other tarantula.... in my opinion, the balfouri are all bark and no bite, especially in a communal setting. They are super tolerant. The HP's are pretty chill also.

      Thanks for the reply, as for the the p metallica bite. Did this result in a hospital trip? Through my research many bite reports on pokies sounds excruciatingly painful with severe mucle cramps.

    great video! I used this to sex my davus pentaloris (my first and only spider) and I'm sad to find out he's actually a male. I've been calling him "she" for 2 years. Google says males only live about 2.5-3 years so he's gonna die within the next year :((((
    very easy instructions though, took me like 5 minutes to do. Thanks for the tutorial!

    lol it's funny that this was in my recommended videos cause I just sexed my freshly molted B hamorii the other day. I rescued it and a suspected male A seemanni from a Petco while I was across the state to see my new oncologist (woo rare cancer disorder 🙄). they had the seemanni's enclosure looking like a LITERAL SWAMP. like.... most of the bottom was submerged in water and it was clinging to a branch. the B hamorii was only somewhat better... I just couldn't leave them.
    ANYWAY, I am usually pretty good at ventral sexing my ts but they were a bit iffy for me so I asked in The Tarantula Community. they said both were male. my hamorii's molt the other night said otherwise though! on top of that, I successfully bred two of my tarantulas (T albo) for the very first time the other night!!! (if you're ever looking for some, lmk cause I might have plenty 😂)

    So do all mature males have the hooks on the front of there legs ?

    • @UrbanTarantulas
      @UrbanTarantulas  Рік тому

      Yes they do, once a tarantula matures, they do have the hooks. Some species its super easy to locate and see with the naked eye, and sometimes its a bit difficult to see, but they are there 100%.

    • @UrbanTarantulas
      @UrbanTarantulas  Рік тому +1

      @@m1ssslowie1 Tarantula molts are primarily composed of chitin, a tough, fibrous, and insoluble biopolymer that is composed of repeating units of N-acetylglucosamine. Chitin is a non-polar molecule, and as such, tarantula molts can be considered hydrophobic and not soluble in water.
      Chitin is also a component of many other arthropod exoskeletons, as well as the cell walls of some fungi, and it is generally considered to be hydrophobic and non-polar. While chitin can be modified chemically to make it more soluble in water, the natural form of chitin found in tarantula molts is not readily soluble in water.

      I usually get high quality ceremonial grade from this asian market, and its pretty pricy... BUT if you find ceremonial grade at Whole Foods, Sprouts, they should also be good... but super pricy.
      Mix oat milk and water 50/50 or more oat milk if you like it more creamy.
      This mixture should be between 6-8oz. Depends on your taste, experiment.
      Heat it up, but do not let it boil. Just before boiling, maybe 180f add half or quarter of a teaspoon of honey and mix.
      Add 1 teaspoon of the ceremonial grade matcha powder, and mix.
      Mix really well. I have a handheld latte mixer that I use, it's better than using a spoon.
      Then pour in a cup, sip and enjoy. If you want to make it an iced latte, use less water/oat milk and then at the end just ice a few ice cubes.
      Let me know how it turns out.
