Just seeing this one. Great job. That pitch/gate knob on the 1m pulls me in every time I turn the thing on. I’ve had it redirect my original intent more times than I can count.
I love it too. It was my first 'modular' back in 2015 and couldn't really figure it out so it was stored somewhere out of reach. But after learning modular for three years I was amazed of how much it can do. And it's even cheaper than the same set in Behringer System 100 modules. The 1M is sold for bargain prices on many sites - and it's a real Roland. The only remark is that it's digitally modelled analog but I hear no difference. The JP-8000 was digital anyway which sounds just brutal. My System 1M is here to stay.
@@mpingo91 Three years ago there weren't so many resources on YT to learn modular stuff. Now it's much better. I learned a lot from 0-coast, where virtually every circuit makes sound. You should definitely check out all MakeNoise factory videos.
Thanks for sharing! Is it worth getting the system 1-m today ? Love the plug outs but afraid of software not updating or Mac screwing everything up ( I lost a chunk of plug-ins $ because of this ) … and now they have zen core ….will they discontinue this?…thanks
I can only say that I love the 1-M a lot, it sounds amazing. And if Roland still sells the plugouts, they install pretty easily when you can run a VST3. Roland has been ahead of her time with these plugouts. Even if you compare the 1-M with cheap Behringer System-100 modules, the 1-M is still a bargain and compared to the Roland/Malekko 500 series it's a steal. I must admit I haven't been monitoring what Roland makes today, so I am not familiar with Zen core. I have installed the System-100 plugout and you'd need a lot of eurorack modules to make similar sounds. So I can't decide for you, but if you find a cheap second hand 1-M you can't go wrong with it.
@@CinematicLaboratory thank you for your response! Yes is great sounding and I agree with everything you said … I just want to keep it and didn’t have good luck with software… great channel and you always respond to questions!!! Keep it up 👍🏻
Hi! I would like to know, when you say "it can do poly" you talk about the System 1m engine not the System 100m? Or the Plugout System 100m can play poly to?
Hi, The System 1 supports polyphony over midi. It has four voices. The System 100 is a mono synth so it's modeled as a mono 'plugout'. All the modular in and outputs at the top (red, blue) only work when you set the synth to mono, so if you want to integrate it with a modular setup it also needs to be mono.
Delay and Reverb are the System 1-M (button push intro). Ext in is not used. Later, the 1M, 0-Coast and Liquid Glicher are all going through the Desmodus Versio reverb which is huge.
this rules. always wanted a system 1m. i find that my favorite synth plugins from when i first started making music, with vsts, are usually my favorites in real life too. and the roland systems were some of the best. sucks to lose audio. i fucking hate when that happens. sometimes my iphone will lose memory or just stop filming. infuriating
Yes, it sucked for a few minutes. But I know from experience that letting go makes room for something better. After working with many eurorack modules you'll definitely learn to appreciate the insane power of the 1M. You'd need a lot of modules and funds to get that sound (A System 500 maybe) and then you still would not have polyphony.
Your branding on all instruments around 1:19-2:45 is an amusing visual touch.

More Roland System-1m videos, please. It's so underrated synth...

@@CinematicLaboratory So it took three years... I hope it will be faster in my case. :D

Getting more and more addicted to your channel! Love the dark Jamuary jam!

Why does your Roland plug out synth say “Behringer” on it ?
I guess it's time for me to look closer at the System-1M :-D
I bet you can find great bargains and second hand items out there. It's underrated and underestimated. Highly recommended!
Wait a minute....What's in a name?...apparently LOTS of
emotion! Then, much laughter.😅
Sneaky switcher Mister....I needed that laugh- thanks!💡🙉
I just had to make a statement but not too loud. Even the title was part of the plan :).

Sounds very cool! So the sound is just O-Coast 'Thud'/Liquid Glitcher going into Ext In of System-1m? FXs are also completely from System-1m?

I was confused and then panicked, like no they didn’t!?!?! Haha nice joke!

The Roland logo at the start. 😆
Not just the Roland :). Cool you noticed. It was a silent protest.
Hahahahahaha!
