    I just bought the MoshCty and the RushCty Speed a few days ago on clearance sale and absolutely love them. They're 1st gen bikes and will not work with Serial 1's new cloud based app so my LBS was blowing them out at 70% off retail. I really didn't care about their app as I have two Specialized ebikes, a Vado SL and a Levo Comp Carbon SL that use the Mission Control app if I want to track my stats. These bikes are cruisers and the gates drive makes them stealthy and virtually maintenance free. I highly recommend Serial 1 as the quality and attention to detail are top notch. 👍

    As a serial 1 owner (2021 Rush Cty Speed) I can attest to the well above average ebike build quality, stable handling at speed and simplicity/function of the drivetrain. With my slightly larger battery I can eek out 50 mile range by using Tour mode on the flats/downhill and Sport mode for hills. It is the easiest, quietest ebike I have ever ridden and it just works perfectly as an around town or limited touring bike. It's a great first effort from HD.

    Some add-on taillights have accelerometers so they also activate a different mode (usually steady and brighter) when you decelerate. I clip one onto the rear of my trunk bag and bolted another under my saddle.

    My second ebike. Excellent bike. Other than the seat being a little hard on long rides it's been perfect for my use. I'm well I was 300 pounds a few months ago put about 20 miles a night on second power setting. And I also would use high power setting for the occasional easy ride home. With my use a pretty good range of between 75 to maybe 85. Went a few nights between charges till it got really low. That's where I got that figure. Average terrain few hills but not mountains. Also I'm about 270 now thanks to the bike and good diet. Even a heavyweight like me could get close or hit 100 in the lowest setting on even terrain no problem. Been really impressed by it. It's not a race bike. Twenty speed cutoff I think but it's great for me.

    • @adaml1162
      @adaml1162 Рік тому

      @christobias5682 yeah it's comfortable in the highest setting at top speed. I got a bad knee and i can keep it going for a long ride with out having to stop. That 18 or 20 it cuts out is honest. Trying to go faster than that it seems pretty hard. But up till it cuts out its pretty good. I only use the highest setting if I'm in a hurry. Otherwise I'm in 2 or 3. 2 usually. I could actually go faster on my multi geared mtn bike. I was a strong rider before my motorcycle wreck. If ur looking for above 20 mph speed. I'd look elsewhere. This bikes great at being a simple easy to use regular bike role. Replaces a regular bicycle great.

    Court, watched your review of the Mosh/City Serial 1. With the Mosh/City being single speed, do you start to ghost pedal in the higher pedal assist? It does seem that all the Serial 1 bikes are purposely made and constructed to last and be efficient.

    • @magnusskallagrimsson6707
      @magnusskallagrimsson6707 2 роки тому +2

      I tested two models, including the MOSH, and I didn't notice any ghost pedalling on the circuit I rode - which was a very generous ride from the dealer.

      @@magnusskallagrimsson6707 what was the other Serial 1 you rode? Rush/Speed? I like the Rush speed which has the internal gears and larger battery, but I did like the simplicity of the Mosh and the clean look, just concerned about single gear getting around and up hills. It’s also good bit cheaper than the Rush Speed. Thoughts?

      @@clayhull4239 The Rush, not the step-through and I don't think it was the Speed model - I thought Class 3's were illegal for sale in Canada (where I live). Nice bikes, though I rode on the default cadence setting for the Rush and it was set a bit low for my preferences. Cort covered this off in his Rush review, but one of the factors deciding against the Serial 1 for me is the carrying capacity. It's a bit low for a commuter/everyday riding bike replacing a vehicle.

      Hi Duke, I prefer multi-speed with chain and a wide cassette like 11-42 or 50. My favorite are light minimalist ebikes, because I like to spin fast and have a feeling of control, so I can still bunny hop and handle the bike in the air. This is one of my favorites right now electricbikereview.com/specialized/turbo-creo-sl-expert/ it even has a built in stem suspension system (future shock)... very unique, also beautiful looking!

    Okay, I have been hating on the whole idea of this brand and the speed pedelec has a lot to be desired, but this is different. Love how both frames use the frame as sort of a chain gaurd that also means it has no frame break for the belt drive (strong, no rattling).
    I am more and more in love with IGH's and belt drives. Quiet, clean and lower maintenance (none are maintenance free, you do need to clean a belt with a brush routinely to get maximum life).
    Kind of disappointed in the aluminum fork. Steel would absorb vibrations. Glad the hydroforming is butted for a more lively feel, but it is still unreasonably heavy (the speed model being absurd). This bike cannot stand up to something like The Bluejay at $500 less (even Bafang KITS now have comparable app's).

    Love how they designed the frame around the belt drive but single speed on a mid drive is a real head scratcher to me. It makes sense on a budget hub bike like the RadMission but even a cheap and simple hub like the Nexus 5 would increase the usability of this thing massively. Can't help but think this is partially the result of a motorcycle company trying to make bikes 🙃

  • @L0st-n0found
    @L0st-n0found 2 роки тому +2

    Some things like replacement battery availability would be nice.
    The only accessories you can get are a bike helmet at this point (2yrs?) Can not get a battery which is proprietary.
    Purchased 1st gen rush/speed from bestbuy on super sale... but the current offerings most places are still 1st gen and no longer on any sale.
    When I recieved my rush/speed I immediately decided I wanted the mosh as well but was back to full price so didn't get.
    There are no braze-ons on any generation is is monumentally stupid.
    Still love the thing just wish some more thought and planning went in.
    And now I'm in the point u listening to fever - the all modular batteries can swap...
    Except THEY DO NOT HAVE THEM AVAILABLE AT ALL. You must purchase a new bike to get a battery at this point 2yrs into offering
    Also the front headlamp is really bad and wish it wasn't there... it works pointing straight ahead a bit but if you need to turn say in a neighborhood or trail you have no idea what's around until too late.
    Also which goes to the braze ons - wish they though to do regular rack mounts because these are proprietary also not great and also not available
    Also I'm just shy of 5'11 yet have a short inseam and biased on fit recommend went with the medium rush city. Would probably buy small Mosh if the 2021 goes back on sale and should have bought the small rush. Medium is too dangerous for the dangly bits.
    Put a cheap suspension post on until I figure what I want. Bought Selle drifter seats In black and brown and the widest respiro as well as the 9.5" Bikeroo. Have the brown drifter on, put respiro on another ebike and will probably give away the bikeroo going to use the black drifter on a regular bike.
    Purchased handlebar and stem bottle holders and bottle holders that wrap around bars... like the center tube which because it's tapered and slick doesn't work at all and the handlebar ones don't work at all. Purchased a metal handlebar mount to mount a regular holder on... doesn't fit anywhere on handlebar with light in center.

      Great input. Thank you. I just bought a Rush cty Speed in small and I'm 5'5 with 28" inseam (short legs). Wasn't able to test a Medium size. Now I'm wondering if I should of went with medium since sometimes my show tip will touch the front fender when I turn slowly (sometimes). Are you still happy with your medium rush cty or would you have preferred the small size? Thanks in advance.

    • @L0st-n0found
      @L0st-n0found Рік тому +1

      @@hur8canemail92 You have short legs.... I'm 6" taller and have about a 28.75-29" inseam. If I want to stand over the lowest part of bar I have to tilt is a bit to not become a eunuch on the Medium speed. So yeah despite the other geometry probably being a little off - I wish I bought the small The measurements of the Mosh are a tiny bit smaller standover so I still wonder about the Medium Mosh to get the longer wheelbase and farther handles. I'm not sure. BestBuy has the Most for $1520 and the Speed for $2240 right now. I don't think these as ebikes can be beat by anything at that price . At their full price I'd go with something else more thought out like Riese Mueller or Gazelle
      As there are still no updates on any replacement parts ... let alone the battery and charger and its now a month after my last and almost FIVE MONTHS after Serial one said they were 100 percent going to be offered at the absolute latest.... I'm more hesitant to buy another.
      The Mosh I saw in reviews has the loud hub clicking when coasting that I wouldn't have thought it did --- it's supposed to be a "nostalgic feature" I think this is BS for we couldn't figure out a good way to make it silent.
      So Thoughts since they went on sale at BB again - the Speed is $280 less than I bought it for. Wish I bought now instead and saved money especially if I had known the issues I would need to figure out and fix before tolerating it. The seat that came with while being I believe good quality - is excruciating for me and I have currently nine mountain bikes, one road bike, one recumbent bike, two tadpole trikes two hybrid and one beach cruiser.
      And the grips are the worst grips by far I've ever felt.
      So I have PNW Loam XL grips now, bike mirrors, the selle drifter, Hafny mirror - so far one on the RIGHT - if one in america should be on left but the motor interface is where it needs to be and I haven't figured how (where) to best move.
      So.... not sure I can tolerate the coasting noise of the Mosh and sorta want to buy another speed in small just because the racks might SUCK but at least they come with. I'm worried also about the version of brose motor - seems like it might be one of the ones not upgraded - and these can have catastrophic failure rates (as witnesed by riders of Specialized bikes.

    To me this bike is somewhat of a copy of the Stromer e-bikes as far as like the handlebars and not having a suspension seat or suspension forks and in my opinion is too expensive to not have a suspension seat post or suspension forks which is exactly what stromer does when they charge $10,000 for a ST5 that does not include a suspension seat post or a suspension front fork and for that kind of money everything should be included in my opinion but the bike still looks like a good solid bike but I wouldn't think that it's too comfortable
