- The basilica of San Siro, one of the oldest churches in Genoa, was built according to tradition in the 4th century and was initially dedicated to the twelve apostles. The holy bishop Siro was buried there and it became the first cathedral of Genoa. In 1580 the entire southern wing of the church was destroyed by fire and the Theatine Fathers decided to rebuild it completely. The convent and cloister were also built next to the church. In 1821 the main façade was finally built, in neoclassical style, based on a design by Carlo Barabino. Before then, the facade had remained rough, since the project foreseen at the time of the reconstruction, the design of which had been reported by Rubens in 1622, was never carried out. Under the tympanum there are bas-reliefs depicting various episodes from the life of San Siro, inspired by the traditional hagiography of the saint. The interior of the church, divided into three naves by two rows of arches supported by coupled columns, is rich in works of art. The decoration, in Baroque style, is for the most part the work of the Carlone family from Ticino: in particular Taddeo, author of various sculptures, and Giovanni Battista, to whom we owe the frescoes of the central nave, the dome and the choir, executed with the collaboration of the Bolognese quadraturist Paolo Brozzi. The main altar, in black marble and bronze (1670), is the work of Pierre Puget, an artist from Marseilles active in Genoa in the second half of the seventeenth century, to whom the Crucifix is also attributed. In the apse, the Pietà group, by Giacomo Carlone, is inspired by the famous statue by Michelangelo in St. Peter's Basilica. Along each of the aisles there are six richly decorated chapels and a valuable collection of works of art.

Thanks a lot!
Such a debt of gratitude is owed for the beauty of these videos , that capture the beauty and grandeur of the Catholic Church , when once the places of Her Worship resounded in undying veneration and adoration of God and His Saints.
Sadly I must say that the music accompanying most, if not, all of these broadcasts, is remarkably and persistently, inane and grating.
surely, in the almost endless volumes of sacred music, polyphony, and Gregorian chant, there would be more appropriate background music, to enhance and enrich. A genuine and heartfelt criticism in no way intended to do mean or detract from you. Grace filled project
Thanks for your comment and for your advise. I also thinks that gregorian music would be perfect but I haven't been able to find copyright free music of this genre but I'm still looking for it...
A Genova le chiese spesso sono sobrie fuori e meravigliose dentro
Anche questa è superba... naturalmente trovata chiusa apriva solo per le messe
