If you’re on Marina Beach in Chennai and fancy a seafood sapad (meal), then Sundari Akka’s Kadai seems to be the place to go. I visited this beachside stall one evening to savour some spicy fish curry, rice, plump prawn thokku and fish fry for a modest sum of Rs. 370. The fare here is rustic in its appeal and the sort of thing you do to tick an item off a Chennai food trail list and experience the city’s beach vibe. Hope you enjoy this short watch; take care, stay safe and strong. Happy eating.

இந்த வீடியோ நீங்க எடுக்கும் போது நான் அங்கு தான் இருந்தேன்... I was there when you took this video
Addicted to Kripals Kannada and my indirect Kannada teacher 😀
Seeing this video with Smiles for his Tamil slang ❤️
Thank you for connecting US 😊
Guess what, I’m literally starving due to my pregnancy sickness, and binge watching your videos to get the sense of food in to my systems. Ta :)
Hi Kripal, you have kindled my college days in Chennai, we used to go from Meenambakam to Chennai beach to taste the fish fry, Prawns and beach special sunda kanji, You manages to speak Tamil also. Amazing.
Happy to learn this kindled your college memories, Subash.
Kripal, sorry to say this is not the best representation of "seafood by the sea" shacks in Chennai. This place falls under the category of overpriced and overhyped places, made popular by misguided UA-cam food vloggers. Would recommend you take a walk down the beach and you'd most likely find many hidden gems that will take your taste buds by surprise, in a good way of course.
Fish fry is too high to have ...
Well said
Yes agree
Yes ...and hype is constantly continuing..Now Mr.Kripal is also on the misguided list.
Kripal, I agree this place is very highly of erated. I had been to this place very highly overpriced. The owner is a lady she says they are using home made masalas. During my visit I literally saw with my own eyes the cook was cutting the Masala packets and adding to the curries. Worst place.
Hi kripal, you should do a Chennai breakfast tour like the dosa tour you did in Bangalore. Rayar mess, ratna cafe, welcome hotel, Murugan idli etc. Also, try the north chennai staples like atho (burmese origin), biryani etc. For something offbeat, I would recommend the farm in OMR. Locally sourced food and amazing ambience inside a working farm.
I am ardent fan of yours. Your presence in Marina beach gives us a pleasant feeling and your review of sundari akka kadai is just owerhelming and wonderful.
Appreciate your honest review sir 👍
It's not the place that we can visit with family especially on lunch time. Happy that you dint keep the same hype like other youtubers do 👏👏
I can clearly see that Kripal's patience and humblness was put to test here..
True that
During my Chennai stay Many time I went Marina beech n enjoyed sea food Incredible fish fry ,Mirchi vada, boiled peanuts n raw Mangoes Thanx Kripal for reminding me my chennai days
I come here for two reasons..
First the food he explores and
Second to improve my vocabulary
Even we locals don't recommend sundari akka kadai to anyone.
Thanks for giving information about food follower from Belgaum
Kripal, you're a modern version of food historian! These are not just vlogs but documentaries for present and the posterity!
Kripal sir, your Tamil is surprisingly good.
I try. 😃
Well come to Tamilnadu sir, I am watching your videos, its nice and good speaking about the food and the way explaining is good. God bless you long live.
After migrating to chennai in 2021 when I visited marina béech after it was reopened after long deliberation during pandemic I couldn't find a single eatery good now i will visit again
First time I see so many negative comments in a video, when prices are not worth the quantity, then it's mainly a scam and not service...
Sir, you must go to South Tamil Nadu especially Madurai/Trichy for your next gourmet on the road 😊👍
Wow trichy really pathetic place fr nonveg
Well said sir ..after long walk ..time for sapadu ...vajaram fish - king fish , paarai - trevally fish ....for nominal price you get worth for your penny as kripal sir said ... one more seafood restaurant must try is aazhi restaurant in chrompet , where they serve unlimited sea food buffet ..and another one is Nair mess in chepauk , behind chepauk cricket stadium ...
Vanakkam sir welcome to chennai.. 😄
This is the first time I'm seeing negative comments regarding eatery selection in kripal's video
Thalaiva neenga vera level nimmana Chennai Alli nodi Kushi aythu
After seeing sundari akka's kadai ...kripal you've choosed a wrong destination for sure
Hello Kripal Sir, love your style of making videos.. What I love about you is you try to blend into the Culture, Tradition, and language of the places you visit. I wish u all the best for your Channel :)
Thank you, Siddharth, happy you enjoy our work.
Hi Kripal I am from Gadag Karnataka near Hubli, i have watched all your videos and a fan of you the way you describe food Is next level , I have watched a lot of videos from Pattinapakkam Chennai famous for sea food you will find more than 10 shops in one stretch plz try to visit
It's now called as shop of scam they won't even respect customers only respect youtubers old sundari akka shop was very good now just not taste up to mark
You should have asked before to viewers which shop is best in marina. One suggestion. Hereafter at the end of each video you mention a place and ask the viewers to comment which hotel is best in that area.
The video reminds me of Puri beach road. Very similar setup with plenty of food carts and loads of crabs 😄
Hope Kripal sir visits Odisha sometime soon!
is it certification
is it recommendation
is it your expeience
Are u strongly advising 135 crore can take this safe hygienic food irrespective of all ages
Welcome to tamilnadu sir, sundari akka kadai verymuch famous for seafood cheap & best. 👌
When he says “hmmmm” after taking the bite, we know the food is good 😊
Kripal sir, Do try Chicken 65 at Buhari Hotel in Mount road (Chicken 65 originated at this place)
Really? Interesting
I feel the workers are very rude from way they replying him ...Isn't it?
Our karnataka people are the best 💪
@Franz Kafka was here in the name of MULUGUNEETOPAL a traditional chennai slang will be like that... You can't understand that bro... Doomangolis can't understand dude..
This has been a compliant since many years....after getting more popularity the shop keepers started to treat the customers badly

Happy to see U sir in chennai. We like ur video s ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from chennai
I visited this stall, believe me,, the taste was awesome, and also they maintained cleanliness. do try when u visit marina beach
Hi Kripal do visit NAIR MESS in Chepauk without fail , you can taste best sea food in Chennai
Further down crossing the lighthouse, you turn left & drive on the beach side(Pattinapakkam) there are 2 shacks, viz Naga & Meenavan, these joints are currently trending. I carry my tiffen carrier to get it filled up with the seafood every weekend. Hog them all in the comforts of my home. These joints are frequented by PAs of most of the leading actors of tamil film industry. You do have the option of dine in, very close to the beach, unlike sundari akka place to Marina sea
Hope to visit in the future, Vasanth.
Love you sir because when you are in the area you speak that regional language.
Dear sir, admire the way you speak,, it's excellent, and really it makes me to get addicted to your pronounciation,, love you sir..
Wow! Iam very happy that you had a visit to Chennai. Take care of ur health and my blesses to you and family.Really very very happy Sir.....
Those who work nearby offices will gather to the sundari akka kadai @ marina Beach ⛱. One more spot for seafood lovers is Nair mess 😋 @ chepauk stadium, behind .
Nair Mess is on my list for sometime in the future, Josh.
@@FoodLoversTV thank you sir 🙏. Welcome .....

Great presentation Kripal Ji. It really adds some spice to the Sea Food served😘😘😍
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Eating on the beach would have been a great experience
Sundari akka my best friend. I love her food
Time for 2 hrs Superfast railway line between Chennai and Bangalore.. only 300kms..distance between these two metropolis..so speed of 150 kms HR should do be fine.. it would be a game changer for the Indian economy
... Nice video as usual Kripal Sir 😀👍
Are bhai are you joking...Chennai to Bangalore 300 Kms...From where did you get this (wrong) information...
@@Anoopkumar-ef6lr he must have meant the displacement between the two cities, not the usual route 😅
Sir welcome to Tamilnadu
I'm a very big fan of you 💚😍
Lovely vlog, totally enjoyed the presentation. liveliness, narration, thank you
Welcome to tamilnadu especially Chennai. If u want taste the real taste of tamilnadu, you have to visit Madurai food.
Great presentation , Kripal sir , always enjoy your videos , all the best
You rightly said. When you come to such places, you look for an experience and not fine dining. Both which I do. No wonder love 💕 your vlogs
I like the way u present abt food, I have watched each n every video....I got some suggestions for u ,how about trying prasada(food) in temples of different places...I would like to watch ..hope u like my idea
Sir happy to coming Tamil Nadu
Welcome to tamilnadu sir... Do some food bloging in Coimbatore and Chennai please
Kripal, groundnut oil is richest and healthiest oil which is predominantly used across Tamil Nadu.
The issue wasn't that of groundnut oil as a medium, but the quality of the oil used in this instance.
In shops they only use refined sunflower oil
Repeated usage of oil would have diluted taste of fish and as well as oil
Sir I'm a big fan of you..
There are lot of food exploring places in chennai.. I would like to take you to some wonderful eateries in chennai 😅
Visited Chennai... Great sir... what's in your list for review
Sir when your coming Andhra pradesh
Try titanic fast food shop in marina beach , famous chinese fast food shop to visit in marina
Thanks for visiting TN Anna🙏
Try Hotel BUHARI in Mount Road and Anjappar...
You should defiantly try "Bharathi mess"- Veg restaurant, Jannal Kadai(Shop with just a window)- evening snack shop in Mylapore near Kabalishwarar Temple.
Very crisp & apt presentation.
Thanks for coming to tamilnadu hearty welcome sir

The beach looks very clean. I last visited 5 years ago, and there was paper and plastic everywhere.
Do try mutton head curry ( I usually don’t like it but in this place I love it ) and fish curry is yummy ! And prawns 🥰
Good morning dear Kripal - Vanakkam 🙏 I simply love Marina beach - have so many wonderful memories with my family and friends 👌 Sunadari Akka Kadai stall is an iconic eatery - so synonymous with Marina beach for sea food lovers 😋😋 Your Tamil pronunciation is getting better by the day - Super Thalaiva 👍👏🏼 The moment you posted this pic on Twitter was so eagerly waiting for the Vlog . Had to finish a business call and straight away jumped into your fab Vlog 👍 This is what my friends and I invariably order 😋😋 Truly agree it’s an overall experience that definitely enhances the eating experience 👍 Glad you loved the Prawns 🍤 It’s fab for sure 😋 I just feel that the Vanjaram fish fry could have been better so that you would have enjoyed it as well coz I have had a really good Vanjaram in Akka’s Kadai . The rice plate along with mackerel fish curry , Kovakkai curry is super delectable even to watch you enjoying it 😋😋 Ha ha ha - Tax collector is busy for the being . Agree it’s a must do - tick in the box when you are in Chennai - Longing to travel to Chennai and hit Marina beach for a quick visit to Sundari Akka Kadai 👌 Short but very special Vlog for me as it brings out some wonderful memories. It’s in Marina beach where my brother and Bhabhi said YES - let’s get married while we cousins we’re busy enjoying our Sundal 😀😀 Thanks a bunch dear Kripal for this wonderful Vlog 🙏🙏 Much love and respect to one and all 👍🙏🙏❤️❤️ Take care , stay safe and happy eating 👍
It’s only for the memories and the experience that I would like to visit the place . There are definitely other better places to enjoy sea food . Like you candidly mentioned you might not return back however I am sure you would have enjoyed the overall experience- compromising on the quality aspect for sure . Truly appreciate your honest . For me it’s a fab Vlog 👍👍
@@rajeshramachandran1704 Yes, it's one of those things that you cross off a list. Nice to learn of the wonderful memories that your family has of Marina Beach.
I feel the pricing is fine for someone travelling from Bangalore to Chennai. As for overly priced, a visitor may not be able to figure that out but given the fact your get prawns for 120, I would say it’s reasonable.
