Night of the Hunt: Rite of Blood is out now! Grab it on Bandcamp for £5 (just under $7) alexroe.bandcamp.com/album/night-of-the-hunt-rite-of-blood Also available on Deezer and Spotify (Other stores soon). This song was a weird one for me because I initially wanted to write something eerie like Wandmacher or Amon, but it's not the sort of thing I usually write and I think I could probably do with different samples for some of that stuff. And I started to think about the King's Field song "Dark Reality" and that's sort of how this song came together. It was fun coming up with different textures here with pianos and harpsichords, it eventually layers up with the orchestra in a Bloodborne way.
Alex Roe Although Cecile Grosvenor is probably my favourite song of the expansion, this one has a really nice atmosphere aswell. And I also really like it when you have that one melody that stands out rather than a lot of harmonies and a melody that seemingly never ends
Any commissions I prefer to discuss over email, you can email me at alexroetaka@gmail.com I can't always take on commissions and I do have work taken on already, but I still like to hear from people and discuss the work and if I can do it.
Durenwol was never a peaceful town by standard definitions. Sure, it was quiet. But no one ever felt at ease there if they were just visiting. The people seemed off, like they knew something the visitors didn’t and were reveling in that. The town lies a few miles south of Yharnam; but apparently a river hidden by time can get you there much quicker. You go to the town and investigate. No one is hostile. Yet they aren’t friendly either. The way they talk to you is reminiscent to how Yharnamites treat outsiders, but less outwardly aggressive. You make your way inwards and fall into a trap. You’re trapped in a pit, in the halls of a buried cathedral. And now you realize. They feed the Druid with outsiders. A hulking monstrosity that stalks the halls. And unless you lure it into the open light, it is invincible. Find a way out. Run. And put an end to this cult for good.
"Her knowledge of horticulturalism, and its role in various arcane practices were unmatched, however, as time wore on, her wild policy of self-experimentation grew intolerable. She quaffed all manner of strange fungi, herbs and concoctions, intent on gaining some insight into the horror we both knew to be out there in the great cosmos above. The change in her was appalling, and, no longer able to stomach it, I ran. i cannot imagine what manner of gruesome state she is in now, nor do i wish to." ~ apprentices journal
"The creature was almost unbearable to look at, even for me. A hulking mass of discolored flesh and limbs riddled with equally strange and disgusting fungi growing from it. It crawled fruitlessly around the forest, consuming everything, only to grow larger and more grotesque. There was no face, no mouth, but I could still hear strange words emanating from it, warnings of Blood Rites, eldritch chants, and a raspy female calling for her assistant to help her." ~ Hunter's Journal.
I've noticed this album so far focuses more on the Victorian era side of Bloodborne than the original Night of the Hunt. If that makes sense, I'm finding trouble grasping my words for it. As in, less on the Eldritch Lovecraftian style. I like it so far.
It feels more like fantasy. Not particularly Victorian era fantasy, but the dream realm aspect. Like Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. It has that vibe to me.
For this track I imagined more of an environmental boss. A large cloaked man, like the giant churchmen in Cathedral Ward, patrols long winding halls or perhaps a large library walking in tune with the stomping sounds in the track itself. He holds a large staff that shines a golden light that acts as his field of vision and a source of frenzy. It's up to you to stealth and manoeuvre around the large Druid and make your way to either vantage points to drop attack him or activated traps that severely damage him in order to win.
the greatest, largest Elder Pthumerian alive, who've ashended his mind to another level. Maybe, Durenwol is another calice dungeon, made by him, some kind of "human" Seath.
Alex, this is by far my favorite song by you. You were able to step out of your norm and make something odd but amazing that same time. I'm listening to your stuff. Thank you.
Intro: Even now the fog spreads. Into men's hearts, they loose their minds, and attack the sane. Song starts: Shhhheeeesh I love all your songs bro! But this.... this smacks!!
Know what I see when I hear this...plant base environment boss, like vine like creature just sprouts out of the ground to attack you or exploding poison pollen fallen from the sky, or giant vines suddenly raising up from the decrypted ground only to smash back down on any unlucky person under it, like those damn snakes from bloodbornes shadows of yharnam boss
So I've now purchased Rite of Blood, and I have to say that it's one of the best albums that I've heard in a long time. I've always found you to be incredibly talented, but I'm shocked to see that you're still able to refine and improve your craft. Well done, sir.
Thanks for the purchase! I always worry about how I can improve and do something better and different than before, I hope I can keep finding a way to do that.
Strangely, the boss fight could be similar to the Witch of Hemwick (hunchback character who is teleported from invisibbile, accompanied by his faithful that he revives) but unlike it, the arena is like that of the One Reborn; a square with balconies from which he can shoot with his darts or cast natural spells (such as: poisoning, brambles from the ground, shock waves and so on)
I'd say that this is one of your most complete tracks in and of itself. Not my favourite(even if in the top 5), but purely objectively, or as far as i can be, this is one of your best. It also sounds like you have a lot more samples to play with, fixing the one problem in your early dark souls(or the first pre-release bb) albums. I'd be enchanted to have you compose something into the next similar game.
Absolutely amazing I have no word this is my favorite track for now I really want to see the other tracks Im gonna buy it when it come on google play in France

Would it be hypothetically possible to.. buy your services? Or perhaps.. Would you take payments for requests? Just curious.

“Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
I love this track, reminds me of some New Orleans voodoo.

僵尸 / Exactly what I meant.

In my opinion, Night of the Hunt would focus hard on the Lovecraftian side of BB, while Rite of Blood would be all about Beasts.
This is, in my opinion, one of your finest tracks.
agreed
Something about this sounds like a endless spiral, twisting and confusing as it goes on and on.

Fuck, you win.
lol didn't realise there was something TO win

This song feels like it'd be a great vampire theme

I feel shivers when listening to this song it's so haunting.

Better and Better.
Probably best track of the album, good job Alex.

PS. that waltz beat at the background is underappreciated.
Id love a cosmic remix of this. Great song.

I think this is the best track of the album. It's very different to the others and it creates a really misterios atmosphere. Good work mate :)
Honestly, I have no words.
Can't wait to hear your music in Apotheosis. You've done great work.
You mean the Skyrim mod?
Yeah. Hopefully all these delays are worth it.
I know some people that are apparently doing some music for it. Afaik the guy asked me to use my Borne in Blood tracks aaaages ago.
lol im here for the same reason stayed for the music though love your work
Another great piece!
getting a feel of Micolash here
Hey. This is seriously some awesome stuff. Do you allow permission for your tracks to be used in not for profit videos?
Sure, as long as credit is given I'm fine with it! Thanks
How long does it take for you to make these tracks?
HECKING FIRST :D (Oh actually no, now I'm sad).
technically i am.
Yes, I already realised that. Need to edit my comment :D
