Antique Rusted Iron Pan - Restoration
Hey guys how are you doing?
In this video you will see how to restore a rusted iron Pan.
I bought this Pan in a fair for 3$.
Unfortunately I don't know how many years this Pan got.
To begin restore I brush wire by hand all the rust on the surface to make more easier to the next process remove the rust.
I used electrolysis to remove all the rust and the old seasoning on the surface, and than i brush wire by hand again and wash to clean all.
As you can see there is a lot of deformation and casting marks do i remove them with a file and a electric drill.
After this process done you could see there are still rust in some areas, so i decided to make a hydrochloric acid bath to remove all the remains of rust.
I leave the Pan in the bath for 6 hours.
I Also smoothed the surface sanding of P80 to P400.
Now is time to remake the seasoning, this process are made to the food not glue on the surface of the Pan.
To make that i used Olive oil but you can use any kind of food oil, and than i put it to bake at 200C till the surface gets dark, i repeat this process 5 times.
After the seasoning done i begin to make a new wood handle.
Now is time to assemble. I just put the wood handle with a help of my restored hammer, and the nut to hold everything.
    And its done!
Ps: sorry, i forgot to use glooves.

Very nice, man! I like the jumbo handle you made. I (100% seriously) once dismantled an entire shed/greenhouse with nothing other than a rusty cast iron pan that I found partially buried next to it hahaha. Very surprisingly, the pan held up quite nicely. Keep up the good work!

This is the biggest wood handle that i made on lathe, and fits very well with the Pan. 😂😂😂😂 even a Pan can turn out a tool (hammer).
      Thanks! 💗

That is a hot-plate/griddle with fat gully = when frying meat on it, the juices/fat runoff into the gully and after cooking is poured into an absorbent tray, allowed to cool and solidify and binned

  • @samuelfellows6923
    @samuelfellows6923 3 роки тому +1

2:45 - that electrolysis had no effect - the end of the handle was fizzing in the brine water and there wasn’t any bubbling from the main part of the griddle = there was a poor electrical connection in that seized joint that you tried to unscrew 🤭 - that is why the main part still had stuff on it and the part of the handle that fizzed was clean/been plated

не нужно никакой электрики и химии. отжиг на открытом огне, металлическая щётка. покрытие делается на основе льняного масла, оливковое не полимеризуется.
