The scientist Maxwell has his 4 electromagnetic equations based on calculus. Entire electromagnetism stands on the shoulder of calculus and the great Scottish scientist Maxwell. There wouldn't be any of the today's technologies including mobile communications, satellites etc without electromagnetism and in turn the great calculus. Calculus is indeed god's language of design intent

Seeking area must have preceeded integration. It seems more practical i.e. in construction etc.etc
Here on differentiating v(t)=8-2t w.r.t time we will find that the car is traveling at a constant deceleration of -2m/s, which means we can apply the eqn of motion for constant acceleration given by, v² = u² + 2as and in the place of "v" we can put V(4) and in place of "u" we can put V(0), job is done without integration,
PS: you will find the answer to be 16m
