"They thought they could make the best film and that would appeal to the white audience", I'm sorry but is it not your book? You could have had more say in the casting; that's a very poor excuse. Take a look at Alice Oseman, an asexual gender-fluid author who (for example) casted diverse real life queer people for queer characters. As if the representation in this industry for black people (especialy black women) isn't already little to none, you as a black woman (Gabrielle Union included) had a chance to reassess that. What a shame. This movie had such amazing potential, I'm also not surprised that it was directed by a white man. Anne Hathaway did an amazing job, as always, but I would've loved to see a black woman play that role. I would've loved to see a change for once. I am tired of seeing what has now become the standard: white stories. It's time for a change now.
