I once smoked a fat joint with Phil Lynott while standing behind the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, waiting to see Thin Lizzy. He came up and just jumped in chatting, started huffing, asked us if we were ready to rock, and then went into the show. Completely surreal experience still just thinking about it.
This guys are freaking ahead of their time playing amazing in 1983 nowadays people would kill to play this freaking good , their music were like futuristic on that 80s Era
I was there with my mate Steve Bunyan right in front of Phil Lynott…got his plectrum and a fair dose of sweat..fantastic gig from the Regal in Hitchin. Got it on dvd as well, great memories 😀
@@rickcamp8487 unfortunately not..i know the camera pans onto the audience but i’ve never managed to see me or my mate even in this remastered version 😩
What an underrated drummer! Man, Phil is about to nod out on stage here. Must have been in full opiate addiction here, so sad. That being said, he performs amazingly great. Didnt let anyone down for sure. So sad he couldn't win that battle. I think of all the great music he left on the table.
My favourite band of all time since the mid 80's, Phil is looking a bit rough here the cracks were beginning to show, Phil was a genius and is sorely missed. He could have done so much more and was thinking of reforming Thin Lizzy I believe just before he died in 86. But Lizzy's music and phil in that music will live on forever. Unfortunatly I was too young to ever see Lizzy live, but man this is incredible quality of sound and video from 1983.. Amazing stuff!! There never will be another band like them they influenced so many rock and metal bands through the years...
You're absolutely right. There is NOT one album that is unlistenable. Yes, some are better than others...but every album has some good or even great songs. And they ALWAYS killed it live! One of the best bands in rock history. (And yet another case of the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame overlooking a truly legendary act.)
best band ever...phil lynott was born in mids/w. brom where im from..we have a statue of him here....TL ruleeee...the greatest song writer to exsist....also his bass playin while singin was tight as can be.

@@TheHumbuckerboy because there has never been anything special about his playing, it’s also a very dated style of playing and when was the last time he’s done anything?
@@sspbrazil At the time I was about 16 or 17 years of age and Sykes was regarded as a young hotshot guitarist on the scene. I can definitely recognise his playing but for me he tended to over-bend the strings . He made so much money from his stint in Whitesnake that he didn't need to push himself in the proceeding years although he did have a band called Blue Murder in which he also sang.
@@TheHumbuckerboy I know about Blue Murder, that album was awful despite having both Carmine Appice and Tony Franklin in that band couldn’t save the awful lyrics and pretty bland rock.

Man that last album was great.
They were one of the best live bands ever, lucky to have seen then 3 times
Status quo were in the 70s early 80s .. then acdc .
A level above ...
You are lucky
Saw them at the Reading festival at the end of this tour in 83 and in 77 Reading festival, RIP phil

Phil was an incredible front man and performer. A true definition of a rock star! Miss you Phil, RIP.😢
Sykes was ahead of his time. He should get a lot more recognition, they all should...
Agreed. The music industry really did not treat him well. Specifically David Coverdale REALLY should cross the divide and get him back in the game.
This was my favorite lineup of Thin Lizzy. I really liked the edge John Sykes bought to the band.
Ripping and roaring, Brian Downey is enjoying being the eye in the middle of that whirlwind! Always admire his sublime drumming.
Phil looks super tired......but refuses to let the people down.

Thunder and Lightning is an excellent album.
I like the classic line up with Robbo better, but this is still really good, thanks for the upload !
Live and dangerous was their peak period! The man at the back always kept the whole thing together!✌🏻
I had the privilege of attending that gig😊
Amazing sound quality.
1983 live is their material I dig the most. Incredible ❤
