  • Follow us on a t-shirt journey to see exactly how textile recycling works. And see how automated textile sorting technology is advancing circularity!
In Europe alone, 6 million tonnes of textile waste are produced annually.
Only 35% textile waste is collected for reuse or recycling. As for the rest of the textile waste, approximately 90% ends up being land-filled, burned or down-cycled to create rags or insulation.
In this video, the TOMRA Textiles teams guides you through the journey of a t-shirt on its way to be recycled and how technology is enabling circularity in the textile value chain.
But technology cannot solve textile waste alone, we call on policymakers and stakeholders to support:
Textile policy and incentives through extended producer responsibility schemes
Collaborative business models throughout the textile value chain
Digitization in the textile industry that enables reuse and recycling
