Have to disagree with your take about stories not pulling people in to this game... all the little stories they've put out have me quite excited for this game. I've already bought the audio book and am over half way through out. It's very cool. They are also putting out a ttrpg here in a few months and a Secret Level video on the 17th of this month. Definitely agree that it has strong mass effect vibes (That's a good thing!) Elohim is a hebrew word pronounced "el o heem".
One of my favorite descriptions of the idea of travelling at the speed of light, to reach as an example the andromeda galaxy, and then come back, at least 4 million years will have passed for earth. So in theory we can go see all the cool things, based on our knowledge of physics, but then at the same time those very laws forbid you from coming back to tell your friends what you seen. Brian Cox describes it obviously much better than this lol, he talked about this very thing on JRE2217, I'm always so fascinated by everything he talks about. So the fact that a game is not turning physics into complete magic nonsense, simply makes me happy. That said, I've barely seen anything on this game, seems rather lack luster in terms of their marketing. Looks flashy and cool, but we've all been fooled by that kind of thing before.
It seems pretty cool with the lore. I was originally turned off by the trailers, but once I looked at the lore I was pretty interested. The celestials are all different humans evolutions of the first humans that left earth and arrived first in the alpha centuri galaxy thousands of years have passed. The cool thing is that ships that left earth are still arriving in the galaxy because some of the ark ships headed the opposite way and had to turn around when the first ark ships found that the Alpha centauri galaxy was habitable; which means 10 thousands of years passsed by while they changed course and headed the other way and now these humans are meeting these evolution of humans for the first time. There a book out that really sets up the lore it called Exodus the Archamedies engine it’s pretty good read.
I'm not excited by what I've seen so far and I definitely don't like the idea of "time travel" in general. It's also going to depend on how much Hasbro is involved since they've abused the D&D licence.
I’m really hyped for this, but I have zero expectations other than it’s going to be a multi branching rpg. It’s not necessarily going to be a space game. I would be surprised if we actually fly a ship.
I like the premise, but there's something off about the faces. I can't quite place it, but the faces with helmets seem to get deformed, almost frog like, especially hers. And the leaks of what looks like gameplay look very very strange, far from great really. It's early, so maybe it's just unpolished? Look forward to it but won't hype over it.
I was excited about this game, enough to subscribe to their newsletter, which ended up turning me away from the game. They're very much on pair with CIG's predatory marketing which immediately turned alarm lights in my brain.
I am very weary of CGI trailers for games and movies. We can only hope these being past developers, that this is good.
"I love you."
Can't remember the last time I heard that in a game tbh.
Sounds like the writing might be good.

some of the characters are giving me Alita: Battle Angel vibes with those eyes haha, I kind of like it though, it's an interesting stylisation.

I had to go back and look Drew Karpyshyn wrote the Darth Bane Star Wars books. That’s a good sign
Being written by Drew Karpyshyn so I'm definitely getting this day one. Loved all the stories he's written so far be it games or novels.
AAA is just not worth the squeeze anymore

There is also a full length novel based on this game already.
Yeah, Elise looks like Jack from ME2 with hair with a MECH instead of Biotics powers.

It's Mass Effect and Starfield.

What does that even mean?
Don't like the character art style, but we'll see.
I like the story's premise so Ill be cautiously optimistic, but I'm swamped with great Indy games without DEI and ideological crap atm.
You don't understand what ideology even is, bruh.
