hey wattles it could be fun redstone project to add a pressure plate on the platform before boating on the ice road, that activate a few note block in series to create a station melody ;) then each stop on the ice road could have its own melody activated with a pressure plate upon arrival or departure in the station :D

Wow! I love it! So creative. It’s funny you were looking for a Soul Sand Valley because in my nether all I have is Crimson Forest and Soul Sand Valley. I found a tiny Nether Waste biome and no Warped Forest. My last world my nether spawn had all the biomes very close. Keep up the great work!

@@wattlesplays it was my first Minecraft world in survival so this second one is definitely a learning curve! I also had a fortress with 2 blaze spawners as well right next to it.

Wattles, instead of wasting time climbing down the ladders all the time you should just put some warped vines at the bottom of a hole to stop your fall. Much faster, and still very safe.

Dude whenever I build over lava in survival mode I’m very careful because one wrong move leads to my death, everytime I get into a situation that involves lava or a high place above it I’ll not only shift I literally lean backwards a bit in real life out of habit due to it being survival mode!
Digging loads of sand and smelting it
That would require a lot more grinding for the villagers and emeralds to get enough glass, not really worth it when he wandered away from the base for no real reason and has a good shovel on him anyways.
@@Missingno_Miner I disagree. I don't even think it takes a single villager heal to get the trade (1 emerald for 4 glass). He has a fuck ton of leftover villagers so can easily make a few librarians. The emeralds are easy, just get a few armourer/toolsmith/blacksmith and you get 24 emeralds per villager per day by trading iron with it from the iron farm. Easy profit. I can get 6 stacks of glass per in game day
@@bradleyfirby648 Here's the issue: it takes time to grind the emeralds and level up a librarian to get the trade, let alone multiple to get enough for large projects, and he'd already wasted a ton looking for ice when it was right under his nose. He was in a good spot to gather sand and had a shovel that could do the job quickly, so there wasn't any reason to not gather some when otherwise his trip would have been a total waste.
Not saying it's not a good idea, I do it myself. Just saying that going for sand was definitely the right play for this particular build.

I do agree that it made sense for him to do sand in this episode but as a general rule I'd say villagers is better, not least because it's 100% renewable

Pretty sure he'll keep it because it's not like 1.18 where the overworld is getting completely revamped. He'll probably reset some chunks for the deep dark and explore far for a mangrove swamp

You would love my nether spawn I had in my new realm since the update, both crimson and wrapped forest, spawned in a little nether cave, popped up literally between a red and a blue tree. Couldn't be more perfect

Wattles is having trouble finding a frozen ocean; I have the opposite problem in my current world: I'm surrounded by frozen oceans on three sides and have no warm biomes nearby (I only recently managed to get a cactus from a wandering trader). Oh, and my Nether spawn is a basalt delta surrounded by lava oceans and more basalt deltas (the nearest fortress doesn't even have a nether wart room TT_TT). I feel your pain Wattles, in an ironic, opposite-problem kind of way...

Ok I've not heard anyone saying the rivers are a god send. We can finally get in a boat and row: just row for prolly 99.5% of the time. Before this 1.18 update you would have to teraform the river path due to the land intersecting. Again it a thing not that talked about, and it should be. You're doin a fine job @wattles keep it up.
