@@DylanODonnell the small cameras come with the flatter box, the big cooling cameras come in the larger box? That's how I figured it worked with the 290mm and 183mm I own. The qhy box is bigger still though, and the negative print of the sky is a nice touch.
Haha i had the video edit open as I was editing the first light so it all just happened 😆 .. still using windows on Mac so almost everything works as advertised.
On the bright side Dylan you will always remember the good times with the old camera with the cool desktop wallpaper :) Finally after a 2.5 month wait my ZWO2600 shipped today
The music made me so pump I went and ordered a goto mount, large apo, a ton of accessories and this camera. My credit is shot! oh .. ooooh... there comes that drop again! What was i saying!?
Good one, Dylan, thanks for sharing! Am kind of a “unbox, plug & play” person, hadn’t even heard of bench testing before. Oh well, we live and learn.. Will check it out again in a couple of weeks when my new camera gets here, one of those coming in the brownish cardboard boxes, not the fancy design ones.. But you got my interest tickled, and will be checking out QHZCCD at some point..
Dylan!! why did you go crazy at the end 08:14? I was watching this video again - you are so much on the point and then something happened to you at the end!! It is like something in you come back alive!! I would like to know how you did so well until 08:14 and then you got that thing!! either way, I love your videos! Love your videos bro!
Dylan. I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning and this is definitely one of my favorites. Hilarious and equally cool, all while maintaining the level of science I’ve come to expect. Keep up the good work!!
Always enjoy your content. I hope all the ads I watched will pay for your new camera. The last ad is playing now, 1:15:00 long. I hope it pays you particularly well because I'm turning the volume down and going to bed while it finishes playing. You deserve it for dissecting your old camera and giving us a look under the microscope.
Great review. I've had the 247C since end of 2019 and really love its performance. Interesting on your "bright" bars along top and bottom of dark image. When I noticed the same thing in my early photos I contacted QHY and they seemed puzzled by what I was experiencing.Took me a while to figure out to use master dark frame to get rid of it. Also if you haven't already , QHY has a nice paper "Setting GAIN and OFFSET on cold CMOS camera for deep sky astrophotography.pdf" which goes into details to get the most from your camera. I also "characterized" my imager using the "Sensor Analysis" tool in Sharpcap. Would be interesting to see what your results might look like. Take care
A quick question though: What is the reason for the unsymetrical difraction spices on the bright star at the lower right corner? That answer would be very useful to me! Is it cable management of your camera in front of the RASA? Greetings Chris ps: don't get me wrong!! Thats a f** amazing image with only >10 min exposure! WTF Rasa! i'm jealous ;)
Still got some interesting bright star halos/artifacts despite that AR coating. Interesting, I haven't gotten that pattern on my asi 183mm on hyperstar, haven't used my qhy294c enough to know if it does it.
Hey! New to your channel! The plastic dome you have your gear in, that you have at home and can be assembled etc. Can you buy something like that online? Big cheers from Sweden!
Nice Video! Ethe "I've got this RASA 11 lying arround, gathering dust (not jealous at all ;-)) Cool bit of equipment! And really interesting, this winter I've astromodified a Nikon D3200 (the poor man's Version to get an IMX193 ) and the dark pattern looks similar, albeit being a bit "hotter" due to the lack of cooling. Though shooting M42 at 0°C in northern Hemisphere WInter has its perks, who needs active cooling :D
Dylan, Have you tried imaging NGC 1333 w/ your super rig? That’s what I want to try next Fall. Err maybe you don’t see it from the southern hemisphere...
Hey Dylan, thanks for another fun video! What is the opening thread size if you want to use the camera with no included adapter. I mean just thread it straight on to the optical path. Also, do you know what the back focus would be from there? Thanks Dylan!
Different for different scopes. I haven’t measured the thread but used the same adapter / spacers I had for my qhy12 to thread to right distance for rasa 11 with no filters (direct) with some trial and error.
Dylan I just cant bring myself to spend $300+ USD per filter for mono an only have the option of 4/3 or full frame "no APSC yet" when one comes out I will get a mono. I have my eyes set on the QHY 268c
Hallo I am Sahil from India.... I love astronomy!! I want telescope for starting it but how can I get enter it? Please make separate video on it! (How can we enter and learn astronomy or Astrophotography) Thanks!

WTF!? ANOTHER RASA!? Dylan, I absolutely feel the same as you do about the natural beauty of the colors in space. That Orion/Running man image is the new standard I will use to hold up against my humble Canon EOS RP and Edge HD 8 images. Nice job!
Highpoint!? I bought gear from them and what lousy support and/or wrong info; all talk. I mentioned I has a Trad Quad filter and they bad-mouthed it so I went to CN and found happy owners of that filter. I do nearly all my business w OPT as a result. I ordered the zwo asi2600mc-p
