It's so amazing to be able to watch Stobart effortlessly make a transition from a collection of formless marks and weave them all into a real comprehensible painting using all the elements of color and atmospheric perspective., While patiently explaining his every move to those young school boys without loosing a step or being distracted from his painting.

What a great video! Listening to John Stobart speak with such authority about the great plein air movement is amazingly inspiring.

Oh, I am so glad that youtube just have recommended this to me. I love paintings of sea and watercrafts. It starts beautifully with Für Elise by Beethoven. And it is very nineties- the decade I'm very fond of.

It's nice to reflect on how things used to be in a world gone with the wind. No one so it seems reflects on the true nature of anything anymore.

Around 17:20 John. says in olden times they painted their boats black - the black colour wasn't paint - it was pitch and helped protect the wood used in the hull. Pitch has to be heated and applied hot.

I believe that Boudin owned an art supply store and greatly encouraged Monet to use more color in his pictures. Monet and Boudin painted together (plain air) on a number of occasions.

Normandy is ethnically interesting, maybythe boys were English students on a school outting. Or Norman, there a gael connection in Normandy the french especially in northern France are more diverse in that way.

I love the scenes of the people-watchers around Stobart there just enjoying the beautiful day with nobody bothering them. Here in America, everybody is afraid of each other so much, thanks to that stupid "Sound of Freedom" movie, that they would call the police if they saw somebody doing that.

Sound of freedom is about ending the scourge of child trafficking and rescuing children from the drug cartels . What's that got to do with a great artist and mentor painting a great scene from life. What's stupid about ending child trafficking anyway.

I liked it better without those 2 clouds.
