      @@-Wreckanize- i never fully put it into use as I was able to repair my MP40. When i did have it on there, it put out some good flow for how small it was. Keep in mind my tank is LPS and softie dominant with a few easy SPS

    These pumps are incredibly strong and ultra quiet. I have 2 octopulse 4s on my 200 gallon. I would recommend the 4s on tanks of at least 6 feet or larger. They are way too strong for a 4 foot tank.

    I have the pulse 4 and love it but it's just too strong, even on my 125 gallon, 6' long tank. Corals get blown around on the lowest setting. Can't really use it. Anyone seeing the same??

    If you buy two of them, will they sync/alternate with each other to work opposite? And do I need the control box if i'm plugging it into an Apex or Hydros or can i just buy the pumps only?

    Just a segue,
    I've been in the saltwater hobby for quite awhile and something has been bugging me. For people like us who are passionate about corals and love to learn everything about the underwater world, we of course, would care for the underwater world as well. We'd naturally gravitate towards learning much about climate change and the global ocean plastic problem. But here's the thing, aquarium shops and suppliers bag corals and fishes into plastic baggies when they ship and when you purchase them. This leads to much more plastic waste, especially when packing huge fish takes 3 huge bags just for 1 large fish. Any thoughts on this?

      @bogieramirez7368 3 роки тому +1

      I agree its not a very Eco-friendly hobby not only are we taking corals and fish out of the ocean but we are polluting it in the process.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому +3

      One thing that we could do as a consumers to help reduce waste at the fish store would be to bring our own containers or buckets when purchasing larger fish. There are a lot of cool reusable coral carriers out there!

    I think most people do not consider $250+ for a power head "affordable"...

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  2 роки тому

      "Affordable" definitely changes in definition from one reefer to the next. Compared to the other name-brand powerheads on the market, $250 isn't all that bad.

    Hi Thomas, I have a 60 gallon freshwater Cichlid tank, not a reef tank. Just want to add some flow for better oxygenation. Would you recommend the Octo Pulse 2 or Octo pulse 4 for this size tank? Thanks.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      The Octo Pulse pumps pump a ton of water. Assuming this is a 4' tank, you're going to be better off with the smaller Octo Pulse 2.

  • @foxchase725

    The fact that these, at that price point, dont have wireless connectivity baffles me.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому +1

      Compared to other name brand DC pumps with similar flow rates, these are actually some of the lower cost options. Good news is that they support 0-10v control, so if you have an aquarium controller like the Apex, you can essentially turn them into wireless powerheads.

      @@BRStv Stop pushing the Apex like a drug, there are other controllers. It's literally the only issue I have with BRS, Apex, Apex, Apex. I hope the Hydros ends up being amazing and people start buying that instead, Just so I don't have to hear about Apex anymore.

    Will stream flow make a wave similar to tunze wavebox?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      I'm not sure anything will give you quite the wave that the Tunze wavebox will provide, but if you use enough of any powerhead with a pulse mode, you should be able to get close.

      Definitely not expensive for what you get. These easily beat the Nero 5 in the flow department. Compare to MP 40s or heck even 60s. The 4s can out compete the MP 40s no joke.
