Today my Japanese wife and I celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary. Her family originally were very much against our marriage, but I bought her an air ticket and she came to London with almost nothing. We had a son and daughter, and now have a granddaughter too. I hope you have a good life together😊
My Japanese girlfriend, Yuri. showed me this video today cause we are talking about getting married one day, and she wanted me to see this cause us meeting is similar situation.
Thank you that’s very kind of you. I guess we need to improve our content both in quantity & quality. Hopefully the channel will grow with time & effort :)
What app or website did you use to find each other? I'm really trying to find a Japanese person to practice my Japanese with online before I study abroad! Great video btw!
Hello Austin, thank you for your comment! I'll be honest with you, in my opinion, the absolute best tool out there to have genuine, daily conversation is an app called ''HelloTalk''. Not only is it free (paid version adds a few things but really isn't required to make the most of the app), it is filled with amazing translation, transliteration & more. I believe you'd benefit from subscribing since I'm planning to release a video in the next week or two about all the tools, apps, websites, textbooks I used to learn Japanese. There will be a lot of content in there that might really help you out. Hope we'll see you again. Have a great one.
Thank you for uploading such a wonderful video😊 I’ve been dating a Canadian guy for a year and a half. We are also thinking about positive and negative sides for living a few countries and cities. So I would like to ask you to make video what is good point to live in Canada or specifically Montreal. Thank you😊
Hey Janey! Thank you so much for taking some of your precious time to watch our video and leave us a comment. We’re very happy you enjoyed our content and we’ll do our best to improve as time goes on. Feel free to share if you have any specific questions or topics you’d like us to address. Have a great rest of your day :)

I can't imagine asking someone's parents if I can marry their daughter. I'm a Canadian guy living in Japan. I can't imagine doing that here, in Canada, or anywhere else. It just seems strange. Is a woman the property of her parents? I also wonder about proposing. It seems like a strange idea to me. Do women expect that? To me it seems that if you are with someone and would like to get wmarried, that you would both talk about it, that it wouldn't be the guy asking the girl if she would like to get married. It makes me wonder if some women are just waiting around to be proposed. If it's that much of a concern, why not just talk about marriage with your partner? It also seems like a scam to me because the woman can always flip that back on the man later, like, "Hey. This marriage sucks, but it was YOUR idea to get married in the first place. I just went along with it because I didn't know any better. It's all YOUR fault." (When actually she wanted to, but just was waiting around to be proposed.)
Well to clear things up for you and if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, we did talk about marriage together for a while before I proposed, so it’s not like it was a one-way proposal. I had never met her family so when we went to Japan to meet them after we had decided to get married, we didn’t ask for “permission”. We informed them of our intention of getting married and I, trying to be respectful to her mother, decided to say so in a manner that would be considered “correct” for a Japanese mother. You may be overthinking it. Our process was very similar to what it would be here in Canada. Now if you disagree with marriage altogether, that’s okay, but there’s nothing controversial here. Thanks for sharing your opinion and watching.
Hi there, Choco, greetings from New York!!!! I've read your comment & was wondering about your age & how long you've been living in Japan. I grew up in Japan & I know it's a tradition to get a permission from the parents of the woman you want to marry with. It's definitely done out of respect to her parents & the chance to show your firm intension to marry their precious daughter. Of course when her parents refuse to give you a permission, either you keep trying to win their heart...or if all fails, the couple will still get married anyway....but it's not an ideal situation. In old days, a hundred years ago...many women chose to break up with him if her parents didn't approve their marriage! It wasn't that unusual, as the children were never to disobey their parents! So, if you happen to be in a relationship with a Japanese girl whom you want to marry her & it's better to follow the tradition whether or not her parents are super traditional. (^^). Japanese parents will appreciate you doing that. (^^)
@@freesian59 OK. I'll remember to ask a woman's parents if I can marry her if the day ever comes. I don't want to reveal too much about me online. Anyway, I've been in Japan for many years. Nice sharing.. I like it
international couple here too ❤️
