Advoko MAKES recently I have been thinking very much a lot about galvanic corrosion in weapons. People do not use carbon fiber in firearms because carbon, such as graphite or carbon fiber, actually has an electrical chemical reaction and it makes metal rust. Putting two different metals together, putting multiple very different elements together from the periodic table actually causes rust. I’m worried about your nice axe, the carbon fiber might cause it to rust very quickly. The metal in question is steel, so that is exactly what will get rusted. Maybe titanium maybe aluminum would not corrode, but copper and bronze and steel 100% will. It will not begin until an electrical circuit is created, such as when it gets wet.
The axe looks great, but how deep was your weld? From the video it looked very shallow and not the full depth of the carbon steel edge. If that's the case then it will eventually be sharpened off the axe over it's lifespan.
Advoko MAKES Okay, let’s get real! As a long time subscriber to his russian channel, I can tell you that his words are a sign of humility. He may be an amateur, but definitely not a novice, rather a very skilled and clever amateur. Besides, we see only very little of what really goes into making all this. As far as I know, there's far more trial and error that we don't end up seeing.

I love this simplicity, back to the basics lifestyle, as I feel overwhelmed by the fast pace, consumptive, high tech, digital era. I truly enjoyed the bi-metal axe you made. It is a marvel. The "simple" way you gave it slowly a shape. One thing I admire in you, is you make things look so simple in making. That is a gift. Regards, Chris

@@bobdole7127 lol right? Me and my daughters as an exercise in welding aluminum made a waterwheel. Over the course of 2 years using my excavator and tractor with lots of fun attachments I geo formed my stream into a proper running water source with a 65ft waterfall. So we made an aluminum spoke and hub with wood paddles and timber framed...frame. Hooked to a, sorry to use such tech jargon here, big ass generator. It makes damn near enough power to run my 3,000 sqft home. Doesn't get the shop but that's a full blown fab shop with heating and AC all electric...it has 300 amp service and multiple 3 phase tools. I'm quite aware of his ability to craft such a beautiful wheel in the flipping woods! Im going to talk to some enginerds I'm friends with about turning my wheel into a steam turbine. Using the generator to power a boiler to turn a turbine. Using pumps to run the condensate back up stream to the top of the waterfall. No clue if that will be more efficient or not. But I also have a 27 panel solar farm that I elevated to provide shade for my house that the trees I cut down to remove the shade for the panels used to provide. Anyway sorry to ramble lol. Thoughts on the steam turbine idea?
Quick thought: Put your drift through the eye then stamp the outside of the eye so you get a solid strike and it doesn't have to be re-worked:) Great job in general though.
Damn Max! That's some beautiful work! I saw a bunch of your videos in Russian, but I don't speak it. They were still instructional though. Keep it up, Sir!

one of my favorite things about your design, is it is well thought out. its like you didnt just think about it once, but maybe 10, maybe 100 times, until you decided, carbon steel tip. The fact that you did this alone, just says genius, and i ty so much for showing us this incredible technique. But then you video'd, and expertly narrarated it all for our enjoyment. ty i will now pay you for your videos, and tell all of my friends.

Best looking homemade axe ... watched a few 100 axe making , really good looking well done🔥. Most are over polished and some has casted metal handle. Damn love the rustic hammer strikes on the back end.
Regarding when you stamp your logo into the axe, the method I’ve seen other blacksmiths use is they keep the drift in the eye of the axe protect from deforming the eye or having any kind of recoil when stamping the piece. Maybe that’s a method you could try?
You have a rare gift. How can you cross cultural and language barriers like that? How can you build a house out of logs bigger then it seems possible to move by hand? How can you forge an axe from old railroad pieces? A kayak out of branches and plastic wrap? What??? I am fascinated and truly grateful that you’ve shared these amazing things! Just my opinion, I could watch your videos every day. Please keep sharing!
Fantastic results for an “amateur “ as you say finished product is beautiful and functional good job max
A novice with vast amounts of natural talent. Love the anvil, never seen one like that, very cool. The axe was beautiful. So far, everything I've watched shows you have incredible talent. Can't wait to see what you do next.
That may be the most beautiful axe I've ever seen. Excellent
Absolutely beautiful as well as highly functional. True old world craftsmanship. Truly a gift from the heart. Well done. You honor your teachers.
Great stuff as always, we hope to see more videos soon!
Ahh, beauty and functionality, all from the mind and muscle of a dedicated amateur - whose work looks very professional to me! I am so glad I found your channel. I have enjoyed your videos and look forward to watching more of them.
Cheers, you are right there are a ton of sliding angle grinder builds on Utube, but none look as professionally industrial as yours. I would love to see a video on it, but I would really love to know what you used for the slide/arm track. Your channel rocks, thank you for taking the time to put out content.
IAM impressed at the technical difficulties of forged bimetallic bearded axe!!!
My friend love this axe love the chisel also fantastic whoever you made this for is VERY lucky thumbs up my friends WOW
Just found your UA-cam videos and I’m impressed and envious at the same time.
You are a talented man and I’m enjoying seeing how you overcome problems.
Your country retreat is fantastic. Keep on posting.👍👍👍👍
Classic Smithing with a creative twist on used materials 👍
What a awesome gift!!
By use my "legs" to hold the work piece I believe he meant "balls". Cause this man has balls of rare Earth metals! Great job.
sticky balls lol
I trust this guy" he's the best & knows his stuff & I call him my Bushcraft Brethren! This Viking mixed race Cherokee bushcraft man thanks you kindly" God bless & take very good care.

LOL I love this philosophy! Are you sure you're a lawyer and not an engineer? Great video as always
James, Thank you! Well I retired my law career this year...)))
@@Advoko congratz "livin la vida loca" ;)
This guy is all in one...I can't get over his skills, it's amazing!
I KNEW HE WAS A ENGINEER (i've only been wathcing his vids for a few days)
Greetings from Athens, Greece.
I have enjoyed all your videos. You are really an authentic, unpretentious, genuine, simple and down to earth person.
Chris, thank you!
If Max ever wanted to make a real short video in his spare time, he could do one on all the things he doesn't know how to do lol.
I’m just
It's a 30 second video of showing an airplane being built lmao
@@jeffreyhill1011 Give it some time and I'm sure he'll make his own. He could used polymer tape and the wire clamping device to fasten parts of it together, while he's at it lol.
Just quit my job to become a full time blacksmith and axes are a big part of what want to make and sell. This one is an absolute beauty.
Matt, appreciate your comment!
Thanks for making the awesome videos. Beeen watching since the first log cabin video. You're living my dream, man.
Quick thought: Put your drift through the eye then stamp the outside of the eye so you get a solid strike and it doesn't have to be re-worked:) Great job in general though.
Your knowledge, yet humility, is awesome. We need more men who are like you, to be role models and inspirations.
Damn Max! That's some beautiful work! I saw a bunch of your videos in Russian, but I don't speak it. They were still instructional though. Keep it up, Sir!
Nik, I appreciate your loyalty!
i did the same when i ran out of english videos, all are great!
the quality of these videos is superb.
Love the sounds of the birds in the background
I like your grinder jig. Nice job
Great video! Fantastic axe! Brilliant craftsmanship!
I never thought of using xlr connecters for diy power cables and it's an amazing idea so thankyou
Very clever. Its understandable that ancient people thought blacksmiths were magicians.
Indeed. Teliavelis Baltic god of blacksmiths who forged Sun was apparently considered to be on evil spectrum of morality and the craft itself was believed to be taught to humans by devils (pagan devils not biblical).
@@marazas20 very interesting. When Cortes was fighting the Incas their leader ordered all Spaniards to be killed .But spare the blacksmith and the hairdresser. The Spanish won.......
I believe the first King Arthur was a smith who pulled a (bronze) sword from a stone (mold). A man w/ such skill might very well become king.
@@thefunkosaurus Sounds logical....When you consider that in those days tools were very very expensive items so in turn the man with the skill to use them would be held in high esteem. Also metal and cloth were expensive and not taken for granted .Well done .Another educational answer.
@Darco Brevich ok
you are a magician amigo, so pleasurable to watch, everything you do is endearing an beautiful. You are a true artist!
Thats a great looking axe!
Beautiful axe
Use borax as the flux for the metals to forge weld, great video!
one of my favorite things about your design, is it is well thought out. its like you didnt just think about it once, but maybe 10, maybe 100 times, until you decided, carbon steel tip. The fact that you did this alone, just says genius, and i ty so much for showing us this incredible technique. But then you video'd, and expertly narrarated it all for our enjoyment. ty i will now pay you for your videos, and tell all of my friends.
Thank you for your compliments!)))
wow that's truly amazing, very very talented
🙏
This guy is awesome!!! Don't see people do work like this anymore.
Maxim made a new video! I can understand what he's saying!
Time to relax.
👌😄
This is my favorite channel! I am very happy to have found this! Thank you for sharing your skills and experience!
Thank you!
In the West, we don't call it 'branding.' We call it a touchmark. One identifies one's work with a touchmark unique to that shop or smith.
I think it is more like Trade Mark...
I mean, I guess so, but Ive always called (and heard them called) a maker's mark.
A touchmark invokes a very different picture in my mind
Incredible work. Modern material meets old school craftmanship. The product is simply beautiful.
Loving your videos mate. Hello from Australia.
Thanks mate! Australia 🇦🇺!
@@Advoko I appreciate that you take the effort to make English language videos. Thank you.
Greetings from Michigan in the States Advoko! Nice job on ax as well as video production. Both turned out quite well. I would like to see a video on your slide grinder. Thanks for sharing and have a happy day!
Greetings! Appreciate the feedback
Ahaha AC/DC Metallica, nice one. One talented Man. Oh and a Lawyer. 😁
My Grandfather's blacksmith's shop is on my short list to get finished by years end. Thx Max
I love your videos thank you for making them!
Thank you for your kind words!
Thanks for the tip!
@@Advoko when do you think part 2 will be done?
I’m not entirely sure I know what to say about this video. Beautiful craftsmanship! Also, nice calming “Bob Ross” voice.
Ооо, наш земляк из Питера популярен у западных ютьюберов !😉👍
You are a multi talented amazing craftsman...
Thank you, Jim!
Skills, well impressed.
I can’t wait to see your next project.
Thank you for such a high praise!
Nooo noo noo, Metallica might be heavy enough but you need a SLAYER album to cut the heaviest of metals :)
:)
that carbon fiber contrast looks beautiful. Absolutely awesome build!
