I was fortunate enough to get an Exchange slot to Australia back in the mid 70's in helo's. Most incredible experience of my Air Force career. Back then the assignment was for only 2 years....which went by way too fast. I loved everything about the country and the people.....except for the vegimite.

Now for the air force with the arrival of drones, the heavies remain and the fighters disappear. One heavy could launch a squadron of hypersonic drones to create controlled airspace for 1,000km around the drone carrier. So heavies the right future career choice.

If that first great guy transitioned to the KC-46 from the KC-30 I just bet he thought 'What the hell did we do here?' The A330 MRTT (KC-30) was the aircraft that won the USAF competition but the politicians made them have the Boeing KC-46 and its been a disaster.

Our tankers are basically modified brand new Airbus A330s, more/just as modern as what they have.
