Really glad you made the point about dogs and pets in this video, it may seem obvious but unfortunately people don't always think. What a little character Scooby is, you have a great friend there.
I have been following Jason Jones and I did watch Janson's 50th Vlog, he did smile, amazingly so. And 3 times no leas. He looked happy. I like when you feature another Vloger you like. Thanks for sharing that.
Cheers Gary... In truth, I watched this video yesterday, gave it a thumbs up but ran out of time, had chores to do! Glad you brought some water along for the little guy too! I could see he was running out of steam on the uphill climbing over the rocks... Probably a good thing you tucked him under your arm on the return trip down... Bill Farr...
Thumbs up ere' Gary, always enjoy your photography vlogs! Enjoy a good walk with my dog when it's cool - well done Scooby!!! Love the shout out - always good to mention other sites! Keep up the great work - many thanks for sharing :)
Hi Gary, Another great video and I especially liked the image with the tree on the left hand side. Fully get the stoic nature of older dogs. Will check out Mr Jones. Cheers Chris.
Hi Gary... have recently walked this route and shot some fantastic compositions...my legs were murdering me too. Poor scoobs ... love the channel BTW... thanks for all the learning and inspiration...
Excellent images Gary, just proves you don't need to go to the top of the mountain to get decent images, but will look forward to when you do get there.
Hi Gary. Really enjoyed this video. I love seeing people get so excited about the the mountains and the Lake District. It reminds me not to take it for granted and it's inspiring to watch. The images you got were great and I particularly liked the inclusion of the tree. I'm definitely not a dog man but it looked like a day to remember for you both. Good stuff.
yeah he's a clever cookie. I had to carry him back down the mountain then he ran off. He knows what he's doing alright! Thanks for watching my videos, it means the world.
Hi Gary, another great video, loved the images, especially the the black and white at the end. How's Scooby, well I hope. Hope you didn't push him too hard. See you next time, off now to check out Jason Jones.
it was me that needed the recovery time, I had to carry him back to the car :) He's fine thanks. Glad you like the vlog and thanks for checking Jason's channel.
Good choice on taking the little man home :). We've not long just got a second puppy and took him a hike up the Lost Valley in Glen Coe but he wasn't allowed on the ground yet due to vaccinations. We bought him a doggy backpack for hiking and it was excellent. He loved it, got to come with us and my other dog got the walks she loves. If you could handle the walk with a dog on your back for some or all of the journey it's worth a look at :).
Hi Gary, another great vlog mate and great images too, totally understand about your pup, I had seven up until a few months ago ( have lost two over the last few months) as for Jason I have been following his vlogs for a while now and agree he is great to watch, not sure about that smile though pmsl! Keep up the good work mate, cheers Davy.
Thanks for your promotion of Jason's channel; just watched one and I can see what you mean about him smiling ;-) As for your cracking images, I prefer the first one with the tree in it. Hope you eventually found the lone tree of Buttermere.
Thanks for another great video Gary, look forward to your vlog and your enthusiasm. After watching you at Salford quays I went down and tried a few shots, something totally new for me. I was really pleased with the results. Thank you.
There are only really four shots that I have put on Flickr for the moment. One is a panoramic. You are welcome to look. flic.kr/s/aHsm76DmQw (I hope that is the right link...lol)
Love the dog story in this. Have one of my own just like yours and I understand completely. Good thing they are small enough to be carried when needed. You managed to capture some great images from where you were. Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of a hike I took with my old Cardigan Welsh Corgi he wasn't so old at the time but a big boy pushing 45 pounds. One minute he's keeping up the next he's stuck half way over a fallen log. ;-D
Hi Gary - great vlog and stunning images. All the praise should really go to Scooby. I have two 5 year old Patterdales that were bred for and love that terrain, even they get tired eventually. As you say, know your pet and prepare their needs as well as your own.
Just watched this Gary... Scooby did well... I have just got a springer!!! Not sure she will be coming on my vlogs though... I can imagine that would be a handful! Great continent!!! :-)
Hi, Gary, I've stood in the same place. I made it to the top recently but it was hard. Hope Scooby has recovered. The view from the top is great but not bad from where you are. Cheers.
Great vlog Gary awesome images loved the bonus image. As for Jason's channel well I just love it so straight forward and down to earth guy, you get what you get and if you don't like it then, well, in polite terms go away although Jason would probably say it in a more blunt way. I've been subbed to his channel for a while now and he produces some awesome images, as do you. Great stuff looking forward to your next video.👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice Gary. If I had to pick between them, the one with the tree is my favourite. All too often it is the unplanned vs the planned that come off better, I think that has something to do with achieving something beyond your expectations. And yes, you can certainly always go back!
Cheers David as always. My bullying tactics have proved fruitful in getting Jason to smile. Think I need to work on you a bit now lol Just joking, just keep being you, your channel will be massive. 👍👍👍 Did you make the magazine btw?
I've been a subscriber to Jason's channel for a while yes yer right his language is industrial at times but takes great photos like yourself ,love to scooby
Great video Gary.. I hope Scooby has recovered. I already subscribe to Jason's channel and he can be a bit of a potty-mouth but it's all good, authentic stuff. Thanks for sharing, Gary!
Great film and love your enthusiasm. My dog is getting on a bit and cant take her anywhere mainly because she barks at anything, as well as stops to sniff anything as well. Atb
Another great video. Can't help with the JJ subscribe as I also subscribe to his feed. Both the shots looked great and unlucky with the low cloud base. Hope the pouch has fully recovered and it certainly looked like it was enjoying itself. I'm dying to get out but my Full Frame camera took a fatal fall and went to Nikon Heaven last week. Waiting for the claims to be settled and already missed one spectacular sunset. Be careful up those craggy edges, having seen my camera fall 15-20 feet it gets you thinking about your own safety when you are in the remote parts that us Landscape togs love to be.
Very kind, cheers. I just picked my Canon 5D MKIII from Canon repairers after I dropped it :( £700 it cost to get it repaired. Hope yours turns out to be cheaper than mine!
You have got it all mate, great presentation style, interesting content and great images. I had all last week in the lakes and got some ok shots (wife was very patient) !!
Nice vid as usual Gary! enjoyed you taking Scooby along and you made the right call as he looked wiped out! My dog is only two now and a lab/shepherd mix to that spaz would drag me up the mountain and it'd be me say "No Mas!" :)
Hi Gary Jason Jones suggested you so I've just subscribed to your channel and watched your most recent vlog and thourally enjoyed it I'm from West Cumbria so it was with a lot of interest. I climbed Haystacks just to the right of where you were three weeks ago and I think the views of the lake straight ahead that you got look brilliant something I can go at a later date. I thought your images were stunning including the B &W image I loved that one. Anyway looking forward to your next upload.
Hi Jeff, thanks for taking time out to look at my channel, very kind. Did you make it to the Bothy? You said you were to the right of where I was, was it still up the same path? Just interested to know as I'm going back to find the Bothy but I can factor in more time if there are other places to see. Thanks again and welcome. Gary
Great vlog Gary. I've been watching your channel for a while and this is my first comment from a fellow dog lover and Yorkshireman (Barnsley) living in Ontario, Canada. Love the way you interact with Scooby, I have a Black and White cross (6 months old) just like Scoobs. Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next post................Cheers.
Very enjoyable! I'm glad you put Scooby's welfare first - sweet little thing. And you still got some great shots. (BTW I'm already subbed to Jason's channel) Thanks for everything - it helps inspire me to have a go myself.
Gary, absolutely amazing vlog again. It was nice to see how you care about your little buddy! The pictures were amazing as always. Love the stuff you are doing, keep it up!
Hi Gary! I am sending big hug to Scooby! I am sure it was hard for him. I have a 12y old dog, and few days ago we went for a hike, as much as he enjoyed it, once we came home he didnt move from bed until the morning... so I fully understand that sometimes the dogs are more important and even you didnt manage to get to the top, for sure you enjoyed the time with Scooby and you also did wonderful shots! Good luck with next adventures and videos!
Cheers. When we returned home we both slept for 12 hours :) It's really sad when they get old and slow down. He's always by my side. I'm dreading the day when that stops :( Thanks for sharing your tale and for taking the time out to comment. Means the world
Another cracking vid, Gary! Poor little Scooby! You're right, our dogs have to come first. My two lurchers go everywhere with me and my rule is, if I even think that they may not make it, I don't go there. I've been to the bothy and my two were ok with the walk (Maze is 13 and a mountain veteran trooper) But there are some routes in the mountains I will never take them on and I rest and water them far more than I need.
I saw an essential item missing from your food stuff, Beer!. Poor dog trying to drag it up there especially at that age. Already subscribed to Jasons channel Can't say I have ever noticed him swear. Love your vlogs very entertaining.
Beer indeed. Couldn't possibly show that and then drive. I had to carry the dog down the mountain. We were both pooped when I got to the car :) Jason doesn't swear much but he lets slip a couple of times. I'm just being over cautious. Clearly i'm not a prood :)
Great location and video. Love the images. Beautiful dog. I have an Australian kelpie and she would love those hills and run me into the ground. Over here, unfortunately, I can't take her with me very often do to rules banning dogs in many public spaces. Having said that there some locations where she comes and she loves it and so do I. Thank you for sharing.
Great VLOG Gary. Just came across your channel for the first time and really enjoyed your images, and explanations to how you go about shooting them! Subscribed, and look forward to the next one. Cheers mate.
What a superb vlog Gary and what a beautiful dog scooby is, hope he recovered well. Love the shots that you got big thumbs up mate. I'm off to north wales on Sunday you never know I might bump into Jason 😂. Have a great weekend
Hi Gary,i just subscribed through recommendation from your mate Jason Jones, glad i did, as a fellow dog lover i take my mate with me everywhere he's a miniature schnauzer.I see you have your fellow ratbag vloggers here,David Hirst-First-man,Paul Johnson,i presume Jason Jones, you only need one more to have an official Rat-Pack :) Good work Gary, now i have to rewind your video to see the photos you ended up with, cheers.
Great Video! Came across your channel for the first time. Subscribed right away :). The punching in of the final credits "Gary Gough" reminded me on one of those internet videos where you are forced to stare at the screen finding a mistake when all of a sudden a ghost pops up with a loud scream :D
Park at the Slate mine then get onto the footpath for Dubs hut , then carry on over the small river and up the hill and the bothy is to your right side
Hi Pema, I use the Kood (Pro Range) ND filters. I also use my Cokin filters too. Kood are my goto ND filters. They're as good as Lee but much cheaper. I hope this helps
Hi Gary, next time you go up there why not take the Arse? He could make himself useful and carry Scooby for you mate! Hope you remembered to check Scoob for ticks!
Gary, were both the coloured images made up by stacking? If you have time can you give any tips on set up of camera / lens settings for the purpose of creating a stacked image. Many thanks for the vid.
Hi Dave, No stacking in these images if I remember rightly. Stacking is really easy though. In a nutshell just focus close, then a third of the way, and then to infinity. Simply blend the images together in post. Blend = stacking 3 layers in Photoshop and simply use a mask to paint in or out the part of the images you want to keep or throw. Hope this makes sense?
No wonder that dogs legs are so short my dogs same age can't do it now shame it is . We need a Dog pack lol leave the big cannon lens at home weight be equal then . Great video
It was worth the trek, some beautiful shots, Gary. Poor Scooby must have been knackered :) Do you not worry about trekking back to your car after the sun has set? I've done it a few times and waited till sunset, got s beautiful shot, then realised i have a long walk back in the dark. I suppose you're better prepared than me and have torches/headgear. Schoolboy errors on my behalf :) Another good video.
It's always a balancing act between grabbing that shot and the trek home :) It was a long walk back but it wasn't a dangerous one. I've turned back early before now if I thought the trip was dodgy in the dark. Cheers Dave
Jason Jones isn't smiling now since he dropped his Canon into the lake and ruined the shutter. Well he did get a couple of shots in Outdoor Photographer magazine for Nov so I guess he is smiling a bit. Haha
Completely different emotions. Gutted and over the moon! It's such a great hobby/profession. So glad his hard work has proven successful. Super pleased for him.
I cant wait to get there. This is exactly the Spot I planned for my Vacation in October. Have itchy feet already 😉. Thanks a lot for this brilliant piece of Video. Keep on. P.s.: did you drive over Honister pass, or from Keswick?
Great shots - especially the one with the tree in the foreground. Just getting in to focus-stacking myself - the sharpness was spot on. Well done for looking after you little buddy there. Subbed and liked. Do head over to my channel some time - would love to see you there.
Great video Gary. Subscribed. The location is great, I was recently up the same walk when I was over for some photos. I had my 4 year old boy and although he done amazing, we could only make 3/4s of the way up. Would have been nice getting to the top, but as you said.......you can get a photo wherever you are. I managed this pano shot www.flickr.com/photos/129182467@N03/35389772583/in/dateposted-public/ . Keep up the great work mate.
Well worth the hike ..stunning images
Cheers again
This is why dogs are a mans best friend and most loyal companions. Enjoyed the video. Cheers Gary thanks for sharing.
Really glad you made the point about dogs and pets in this video, it may seem obvious but unfortunately people don't always think. What a little character Scooby is, you have a great friend there.
Thank you for saying. Very sadly I lost my best friend of 15 and half years a short while ago to a sudden health issue. Thanks for watching
Enjoy your simple direct approach in all your vlogs Gary, your love for Scooby is obvious and just enhanced the appreciation for the video.
Thank you Bill. I recently lost my little best friend :(
Thanks for watching
@@GaryGough sorry to hear that Gary
I have been following Jason Jones and I did watch Janson's 50th Vlog, he did smile, amazingly so. And 3 times no leas. He looked happy. I like when you feature another Vloger you like. Thanks for sharing that.

Very kind again, thank you
Cheers Gary...
Hi Bill. He was a little knackered but I made it look worse for the video. Still love the little fella though :)
Nice shot and well worth the trip. Great job!
Thanks for saying Roger
I am glad to see your vlog again fantastic guy you are!
Cheers Norbert, very kind
Just hopped over to see Jason's work, fantastic shout out! Love to see you looking after Scooby too. Cracking pictures once again!

Great watch Gary.

Hi Gary... have recently walked this route and shot some fantastic compositions...my legs were murdering me too. Poor scoobs ... love the channel BTW... thanks for all the learning and inspiration...
Cheers Darren, very kind
They've finally done it. The Welsh have finally worked out how to miniaturise sheep. Scooby is awesome, nice one Gary.
Excellent images Gary, just proves you don't need to go to the top of the mountain to get decent images, but will look forward to when you do get there.
Sounds like a challenge :) 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Gary. Really enjoyed this video. I love seeing people get so excited about the the mountains and the Lake District. It reminds me not to take it for granted and it's inspiring to watch. Hi Adam, Very kind of you to say. Ditto ref the great videos. Catch you up there one day. Let me know if you ever want to do a colab :) Gary
I'd definitely be up for doing a collab. Especially if you took me to the Mach Loop. I've been meaning to go there for ages.
Hi Adam, I'll sort that in a breath. Email me your number please and I'll call you to chat about it. gary@garygough.co.uk
Speak soon
enjoyed the vlog again Gary and the pics were nice. keep up the good work and glad Scooby is ok
Cheers. He's a soldier. It's me you need to worry about :)
Gary, Jason sent me over and glad he did. Great shots. I think Scooby knew what he was doing when he stopped you.
yeah he's a clever cookie. I had to carry him back down the mountain then he ran off. He knows what he's doing alright! Thanks for watching my videos, it means the world.
And yet you still captured a great image without getting to the top....phew!
Hard to fail when it looks like that :)
My little fella was fine when I got home. It was me that had to carry him all the way back down the mountain. I could of slept for a week :)
Aww Scooby what a little champ :) Love you channel and great pics too :) x
Thank you very much 👍👍
look after old scooby Gary lovely dog, great pictures enjoyed
He's well looked after, if not a little spoilt. Probably why we're both in this shape :)
Hi Gary, another great vlog mate and great images too, totally understand about your pup, I had seven up until a few months ago ( have lost two over the last few months) as for Jason I have been following his vlogs for a while now and agree he is great to watch, not sure about that smile though pmsl! Hi David again. Cheers for the comments and glad you like Jason's site. Think I bullied a smile out of him :)
Poor dog, Gary! Fantastic video and images, as always!
Poor dog, poor me. I had to carry him back to the car :) Cheers 👍👍
Great Vblog, great images and what a super Scooby. Hope you carried him back to the car.
Carried him right down the mountain. It was me that was knackered in the end not him :)
Thanks for your promotion of Jason's channel; just watched one and I can see what you mean about him smiling ;-) As for your cracking images, I prefer the first one with the tree in it. Hope you eventually found the lone tree of Buttermere.
lol do you know I still haven't found the tree. Maybe third or is it fourth time lucky :) 👍👍👍
Hopefully, it hasn't been cut down since I was up there last November!!!
Thanks for another great video Gary, look forward to your vlog and your enthusiasm. After watching you at Salford quays I went down and tried a few shots, something totally new for me. I was really pleased with the results. Thank you.

Cheers again. My dog can't be arsed chasing anything. Never been a barker either. Proper lap dog. Fat and lazy just like me ;)
Great blog and brilliant images as always. Hope Scooby recovered.

Thanks for everything - it helps inspire me to have a go myself.
Really glad I've helped to inspire you. Always put scooby first but I think his vlogging days are over :(
Gary, the pic with the tree was truly great, nice work. Already a Jason fan; but I am sure he appreciates the heads up.
Cheers. Glad you're a fan of his too :) Think I might have bullied him into smiling :)
Gary, absolutely amazing vlog again. It was nice to see how you care about your little buddy! The pictures were amazing as always. Love the stuff you are doing, keep it up!
Thank you Tamás again, very kind
Just found this channel Gary after watching one of Jason's vlogs. Great stuff here. I hope Scooby survived the journey
Hi Jim, welcome to the channel. I smile a little more and don't swear anywhere near as much Jason :) Hope you like what's on offer 👍👍
Gotta take care of your best friend !
Always Steve. He meant so much to me. Very sadly we lost him recently after 15 1/2 fantastic years

Loved the B roll, lol. Especially how you laughed when the milk spilt 🤣🤣 great stuff 👍
The wife spilled it :) she;s getting the blame :)

Very sadly we lost our little trooper to a kidney infection last month. One of the saddest days of my life :(
Oh Gary, I'm so sorry to hear that. No words make that better but at 15 years old, you have him a great life.
15 and a half years the little fellow was beside me, day in day out. 😢
Oh poor fella. Heartbreaking :(
I saw an essential item missing from your food stuff, Beer!. Poor dog trying to drag it up there especially at that age. Already subscribed to Jasons channel Can't say I have ever noticed him swear. Love your vlogs very entertaining.

Hi John, just googled Australian kelpie. It's a little like an Alsatian. Beautiful Dog too. Look after him and thanks for your kind words :)
Lovely vlog Gary awesome pics and gorgeous location :) ps my old dog just turned 21 sometimes he thinks he's a puppy

Oooo my own rat pack. Love that idea

that's brilliant thanks and welcome to the channel
Bet the dog slept well 😂 nice images!!
Think you'll find we both slept well :) 👍👍
Great Video! Came across your channel for the first time. Subscribed right away :). The punching in of the final credits "Gary Gough" reminded me on one of those internet videos where you are forced to stare at the screen finding a mistake when all of a sudden a ghost pops up with a loud scream :D
lol think we've all been had by that one. Thanks for the sub it means a lot 👍👍👍
Nice vlog , i was at the bothy a few weeks back for sunset also , i think coming in at it from Honister slate mine is a lot easier
Hi Helen, Can you tell me how to find it from the Slate Mine please?
Park at the Slate mine then get onto the footpath for Dubs hut , then carry on over the small river and up the hill and the bothy is to your right side
Awesome thank you very much xx 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Gary I really appreciated your photography skills and which brand of Filters do you used???????
Hi Pema, I use the Kood (Pro Range) ND filters. I also use my Cokin filters too. Kood are my goto ND filters. They're as good as Lee but much cheaper. I hope this helps
Great video buddy . I hope Scooby recovered :) Love Jason channel , just watch em when kids aren't about ..:)
Cheers Paul, I'm off to win your money. See you in the van, sooooooon
Shhh ;)
Hi Gary, next time you go up there why not take the Arse? He could make himself useful and carry Scooby for you mate! Hope you remembered to check Scoob for ticks!
lol now that's a great idea. I'm on the phone right away 👍👍👍
Bit far pal for the little guy.
Love your posts mate.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks Gary, my mistake, thanks for the info on stacking, will attempt it in very near future.
No wonder that dogs legs are so short my dogs same age can't do it now shame it is . We need a Dog pack lol leave the big cannon lens at home weight be equal then . Great video
That's a fair point Malcolm. Think I might have to invest in a dog pack. 👍
It was worth the trek, some beautiful shots, Gary. Poor Scooby must have been knackered :)
Do you not worry about trekking back to your car after the sun has set? I've done it a few times and waited till sunset, got s beautiful shot, then realised i have a long walk back in the dark. I suppose you're better prepared than me and have torches/headgear. Schoolboy errors on my behalf :) Another good video.
It's always a balancing act between grabbing that shot and the trek home :) It was a long walk back but it wasn't a dangerous one. I've turned back early before now if I thought the trip was dodgy in the dark. Cheers Dave
poor doggy. lol.
lol he was fine after I carried all the way down the mountain :)
Jason suggested you so here I am subscribed (also fellow Welshman)
Welcome to the channel David. Us Welsh people have to stick together :)
Thank you Gary. Definitely
Gary there is no way that little dog is going up there.
I know that now Gary :) It was quite a hike. Looking forward to the challenge for myself :)
Gary Gough How is Scooby doing BTW? He is such a little trooper.
He's perfect. The video probably made him look a worse. My best pal like you said is a real trooper
Thank you, Jen. Very sadly we lost him recently to a liver complaint. He was my best friend for 15 and a half years. Sorely missed 😢
Had to pack my old Jack Russel into my backpack and carry her down from 1/2 up haystack.
That's fun part sad too. Hate it when they get old. My best pal is really struggling these days. :(
I cant wait to get there. This is exactly the Spot I planned for my Vacation in October. Have itchy feet already 😉.
Thanks a lot for this brilliant piece of Video. Keep on.
P.s.: did you drive over Honister pass, or from Keswick?
Hi Christian. Im creating a page with all the info on where to park etc during the week. I did go that way though :)
Gary Gough Awesome. Hopefully that would help me (and of course a lot of other Fotolovers) to plan a bit better. Thanks a lot.
It just goes to show how much this nation is a lover of animals lol
indeed we are :) 👍👍
Great shots - especially the one with the tree in the foreground.
Hi Dan, Thanks for you kind comments. Cracking panoramic picture btw. Great light 👍👍👍
