50 Years Ago in Burnsville NC

While learning acting skills at a Summer stock theater in the Smokey Mountains in 1965, I became friendly with a local family, the Penlands: Mina, Noni, and Dodi. I recorded a song they sang in their home. Now 50 years later, their song survives. The Super 8 film of this magical place...not so much.

My late grandparents on my Dad's side had a vacation home near some friends of theirs on Seven Mile Ridge back in the 70s. Little Switzerland and Burnsville are such beautiful and peaceful areas.

This is amazing. Do you have any more info about this song? How was it recorded/what media is it on? I grew up in Burnsville and moved back recently, would love to learn more about this. This should be preserved/possibly released if it's an original.

I recorded Mina, Noni, and Dodi Penland in their home in Burnsville, on a two track tape recorder. I'm not sure if they wrote the song, but they are the only ones who sang it. Mina Penland is on Facebook. She can tell you more.
